Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

what's the perk that people want to see the most next?
Weapon Crafting(Devil May Cry):
I want to see more of Apeiron's mockery of his enemies, and even more i want to see Joe's reaction to Forge just telling him that he lives under Rule of Cool now and that for free.

Actually Joe's reaction to Forge telling him that soul is a thing that exist sounds fun too, so i will need to add That Undefinable Thing to anticipation list.

hum learned something new today. Since it was edited. I think it was for the same reason I was seeing (in my ignorance).
Fleet does have a helicopter and it is was of the Apache model. Amog the many mini vehicles that he have.
Well this all I have to comment about the matter. Hope that with clarification that we got that cold heads wins^^ and we can all move along.

Anyway, really not relevant to the thread, so thread tax: what's the perk that people want to see the most next?

Three come to mind:
1. The worm perk to be anti precog and stop holding back

2. Gurren Laggan perk so that joe can get spiral and we can see him do one giga drill breaker (i will laugh like a madman when i see that happening)

3. Symphogear so that joe can unlock all the background music fiats and have the power able to KILL or at least harm endbringers with the power of MUSIC. I hope the fiats he gets is Prometheus which is a giant flaming chainsaw

I wanna see Joe pull an endeavor with it:

Gurren Laggan perk so that joe can get spiral and we can see him do one giga drill breaker
Honestly, Joe would need Simon level character development to be able to use Spiral Energy to its full potential. He just has too much doubt and self-hatred to really make use of it.

His clones might be able to use it though. Hm.

...and now I'm imagining one of his duplicates going Kamina and breaking the chains of his own limited lifespan to force himself into continued existence, because dammit, I want more time to play with the giant robots!

Thats also why I think it would be beneficial for Joe to get spiral, like aura it will motivate him to be able to better himself and be at peace with himself since in my opinion a power like spiral is one hell of a motivator for anyone to achieve.

Edit:

Plus he can still teach tetra spiral and his felyne friend from the monster hunter perk is a confirmed companion, meaning he also gets all fiat based perks which includes the spiral, so Joe will still have two strong spiral users even if he ignores it himself.

Answering a single perk would be a bit limiting, so I'm gonna give my top 3 instead:
  • Miniaturization and Efficiency (Worm, 400 CP). It's Armmaster power. Even if it's amusing to out-armmaster armmaster, that's not the real reason why I'm interested in M/E. It come with a free perk called Outside Context Problem which provide an immunity to all precog power outside of Coil. Yes, that explicitly include The Sigmurg, which means Joe could finally let loose. Also he would get a room full of tinkertech to play with.
  • Strong Spark (Girl Genius, 600 CP). That would turn Joe into a Mad Scientist, with extreme charisma (bordering on minor mind control), outgoing personality, and crazy schemes. It would seriously shake up the story by discarding Joe personality defects in one single stroke, while providing new constraints for Lord to play with. As Lord once said, using Strong Spark to solve your problem is like replacing your current problems with new, exciting problems which are also on fire.
  • Item Construction A+++ (Fate, 600 CP). That would turn Joe into a Servant, which means some massive improvement of his body in every respect, serious magic, a powerful named special attack (as if Joe wasn't an anime protagonist already), and finally the ability to... well, craft bullshit magical items. To quote Lord, it's "one of the most drastic 600 CP perk (but then every 600 CP perk are game changer)".
They are all reasonably priced, which is something extremely important : anything above 600 CP is so unlikely to be pulled that I'm not sure we will see them before the end of the story.

The whole list is here.

...and now I'm imagining Garment with Spiral Energy. With that confidence and no-nonsense go getter attitude... Scion doesn't stand a chance, she will get him.

Soon, he shall be fashionable!

Well, I have lots of perks I'd like to see, starting with the Pagan Science Symphogear one, but the one I think would be most hilarious right now would be the This Is How I Want It Kerbal perk. Because here he is fighting on multiple fronts, and Suddenly! 24 Kerbals are running around the workshop. Or locked in a locker, which one would worry him worse.?.. Probably wouldn't know which hapened till he went to check.

Edit: well, I guess Survey could tell him..

If clones can use Aura, then they have Souls.
My question is, what happens to their Souls when they disappear?
Is Joe absorbing them Dark Souls style without realizing it?
Is he turning into an Eldritch abomination made out of stitched together copies of his Soul?
Is it more like a Soul version of a colony organism?
Or, worst of all, are they just disappearing into nothingness?

Judging by this description of how duplicates interact with Elven Enchanting:
I felt my duplicates around me, but this was something they couldn't help with. We were all drawing from the same well, so to speak. They could help carry the water, but they couldn't pay the cost. Not for this.

Other Joes and Joe Prime share one soul.

I feel like it may be an important reminder for some here, so I'll just say:

"Outside Context Problem (Free): It'd be boring if you were to just die right at the start so for free you'll have a selective immunity to the powers of a few rather nasty plot device level opponents that by all rights would probably want to kill you right out of the gate. Contessa, Ziz, and Zion's precog doesn't seem to be able to pick you up, instead returning a zero-sum error whenever they try to force the issue. They won't notice this until you garner enough attention for them to try and then they might take further measures to see what the problem is. But at the moment you'll be safe from being instantly killed due to the threat you pose to their plans. This works on all shard/entity derived precog. Your peculiar inter-dimensional nature just messes up their ability to predict you. Coil is an exception due to the weird nature of his power."

This power isn't really a blanket forever lasting protection against plot device precogs. As the perk itself notes, once Joe starts making waves they will notice the lack of those wave's source in their own perception and try to investigate. Whatever "further measures" the Simurgh takes, I can't imagine they'll be good for anyone. I'm not sure what approach Joe will take once he finally unlocks this, but I hope he doesn't throw all caution to the wind. Well, I can't imagine him doing that, but still, hope he maintains a certain level of preparedness for any confused alien death monster shenanigans.

Rereading the text of this perk, I'm also wondering if the phrasing "zero-sum error" here will end up being important. Most things the Shards can't see seem to be that way because of artificial limitations blocking their sight. Otherwise, you'd think if they came across something they couldn't predict correctly they'd just end up with an inaccurate prediction. But when Joe gets this perk it seems like he may end up actually breaking whatever pre-cog alien "software" is aimed at him. While this perk would prevent him from getting killed by unbeatable deterministic self-correcting predictions, which is totally worth it regardless, I wonder if it wouldn't also make him exceedingly interesting to any Shards specializing in the area of prediction who are now wondering what it is about this single person they used to be able to see that is now "crashing their systems," so to speak. Including the Simurgh, of course.

I didn't know there was a fine print to the perk. So even if Joe gets this perk there's a Catch and he has gotten a lot of attention already I'm just not sure if he has gotten Contessa's attention yet

IIRC the zero sum error is what March has as her defense. Her anti-thinker power is "return null" to an opposing power. I wonder if the perk would work against her- she isn't specifically one of the targets, but I would find it difficult to argue she doesn't rely on precog for her timing- too much requires her shard looking at the future for that.

Outside Context Problem is an extremely powerful perk, even with its caveat :

- It protect him from being discovered too quickly (same as the privacy curtain).
- It make fighting them massively easier. Contessa without her path is a normal human (see: the end of Worm, when she is massively hampered by an anti magic aura), and The Sigmurg is blind to the present. It's not a "I WIN" button, but it remove their strongest weapons from play.
- Creating counter measure would take time, and Joe is moving extremely quickly in the story.

...now I really wanna write an omake about a clone that harnesses spiral power to kick impossibility to the curb and break his chains to become a new entity. There can be no possible downsides to an existence, known to be much more reckless and headstrong than Joe Prime, solely created and supported by spiral energy, a known universe ender, with all of Joe's perks!

Honestly, even with that risk, Joe's sensible enough to not actually break reality in half when suplexing golden gods with moon sized mecha. I just really wanna see a gattai, man...

Any extra brain power/computational power that they need to waste with sufficient blank Joe is a computational power that is not being use to (directly) block punches of the MC^^.

I mean even behemoth can be 'punched' with tinker bombs and etc. So making it (even)harder to simulate Joe power is a really big win^^.

You're right. Rereading that chapter, the attack was because of the promise of help. And the inability to work with Apeiron was because the governor backed the PRT, and the PRT specifically has restrictions on working with Apeiron. They really hate him, holy shit.
The fact that the order came just in time to stop them from cracking the switch combined with the PRTs specific restrictions on working with Apeiron. It's really suspicious. I now suspect outside influence. March or Cauldron, maybe. Leaning towards Cauldron since I don't think march knows that Dragon has to obey orders like that.
I know it's a meme to suspect Contessa influence in literally everything, but this specific set of circumstances is really really suspicious now that I re-read it.

The PRT doesn't hate Apeiron, even Piggot doesn't hate him.
They are a bureaucracy, and the original directive about him being a Master was following their standard protocols.
From their perspective, Apeiron initiated a secret meeting with Panacea, and used an unknown power on her, the only effect known for certain is that it healed her physical injuries. He also gave her a possible tinkertech device as proof he'd made the knives used by the Undersiders.
Panacea, while being interviewed by Armsmaster, pings certain checkboxes that indicate a person is being Mastered.
A tech who was studying the object Apeiron gave then insists that he was Mastered by it, he later disappears without any trace.

Listing Apeiron as a possible Master makes sense, the problem is that removing that particular tag takes time, by design. If March hadn't followed Flechette to Brockton Bay, the issue would have been resolved without further issue.

A Lady Crowned / A Creepy Crawly (The Shallow)
Thought of Joe bioengineering Taylor some Bugs. Not my best work, admittedly, but I've been busy.
A Lady Crowned / A Creepy Crawly

I was in my workshop, pouring over the scans I had gotten on lungs power. I was only looking at it to find a counter-method besides nanite weaponry. Around that time Survey Appeared, using the new physical hologram system one of my duplicates had implemented. "Taylor is calling."

I answered. "Hey."

"Um… Hey Joe… So you know that crazy red energy stuff…?"

"Yes?"

"I managed to keep the area mostly safe by flooding thugs with bugs, but it was hard to detect the ABB, and I was wondering… If…"

"You want me to bioengineer better bugs for you?"

"Y- yes."

I considered things carefully. Having better detection of the world around her would help her considerably, and my passenger seemed to find the notion really funny. "Sure… I'll need scans of your power though, can you get out of the house? I could meet you really anywhere."

"My dad is being a little strict about why I go out. He doesn't want me to get kidnapped and conscripted, but I am going shopping with him later today, maybe we could coincedentally meet? Or no that's stupid you'd need to…"

"No, it's fine. My scanners are small enough to work like that. Actually, you could just use the scanners in your watch and have Sur- the Virtual Assistant send them over to me."

She had clearly noticed the slip-up, but ended up deciding not to comment. "Sure… I'll do that."

I was intending to make her a focus for a while, this would be a good oppurtunity for that.

I immediately entered my main workshop area. I was going to make her a basic hairclip, like Aisha's, but then I would have Garment redesign her outfit, and add a secondary focus in the shape of an ancient egyptian crown. She was Lady Khepri after all. I was willing to let Taylor into my workshop, but not the undersiders. I had barely decided to get Chen in, and that was because of the absolute mess that was his condition.

It was a beautiful thing. "T O R T H A." I named, and it was Tortha. The Word of Control.

I then visited Garment in the textiles workshop. She waved, and immedialty showed off an elegant three-piece suit, smooth yet SHARP. It was a civilized version of my cape outfit. She then showed me a medeival-carnival-mask version of my own. She telekinetically made it act like I was wearing it, acting like a mirror. "That's pretty amazing Garment. I wanted to ask a favor of you..."

She nodded slowly "You know Taylor?" At her confused 'look'(it was more body language, but yeah) "Khepri?" And she started gesturing fast.

Survey projected into the room "She's excited at the oppurtunity to work with Ancient Egyptian and Insectoid aesthetics. I am currating a list of reading material for her to ensure cultural fusion comes off in the best way."

I nodded, smiling at the gloves bouncing with glee "You know me too well I guess. I can't make her a hard suit without the other undersiders getting jealous, but I'd love your assistance in making a Soft-suit for her."

Garment nodded, pencils gliding across her notebook excitedly.

Now it was time to bioengineer. I sighed. I stepped into my apartment and quickly grabbed all the insects in it, trapping them with cages made through my omnitool. I returned to my alchemical lab, and considered the next step. I would need to refine raginite, and my Valkyrian Science and Chimera Knowledge told me how.

It was unpleasant work, using nanites to alter the DNA, then feeding one of the insects a very specifc food. I watched as it quickly grew into nothing more than a Raginite Refining Organ. It took a while, but the blue crystal had been melted and extruded like a pale perfect gem.

I grabbed my tools and and breathed. This was unpleasant work.

I was using bio-alchemy and surgery, with a bit of natural alchemy, to get this done. The biology of the Weavers was assymetrical, allowing The Arcane Craft to be implemented, making them easier for Taylor to control, on top of the focusses she would soon get. Their biology was compact, all my miniturization powers coming into play. Their thread was stronger than steel, and their armor stronger, all thanks to the natural alchemy I incorporated into their bodies. Their muscles and their brain were overclocked with Raginite. They barely looked natural.

Also, they could fly.

I had left them with 3 posion sacks that could be cycled through, a mild paralyzer, a strong irritant, and a potent sleeper like something out of Romeo and Juliet.

I watched them fly around in their tank.

"Call Taylor."

It took a minute for him to hear the click "Hello?"

"Hey taylor, finished your weavers. They're strong, so avoid using them too much, and probably keep a breeding pair at the very least, you should also know they have three different poisons-"

"WAITWAITWAIT! You're Finished!? It's only been two hours."

"…I work quick, should I just drop them in your range?"

"…Yeah, I guess… There's a park like, a block away from my house? drop them off there."

A location was sent to my implant "Will do."

Once the call ended I drank a dose of the poison that shrunk me down, and began to leave my workshop. I guessed I could get her the focuses later.

Suddenly a thought occurs to me. If Joe makes a Kamui, what are the chances he's going to get Garment's help? And if so, what are the chances Tetra starts calling Garment Mommy?

Also imagine the internet reaction if there's ever a time Tetra as a kamui starts acting on her own.
