Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

Honestly, considering Joe is noted to be pretty dang hot even when disguised now, I suspect that was more like:
Gym goer: "Oh dang, Brian thinks Joe is HOT. Remember you have a boyfriend already Brian!".
Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting too.
Oh, no, cause Brian first goes to horror before blankness. I think it's more of a surprise meeting with an ex as far as vibes are concerned.
The sudden blankness could just as easily be attributed to Aisha being present with Hot Guy and wondering just exactly what she's been telling him about Brian. Which is 100% valid but for exactly none of the reasons the crowd is probably assuming (while trying not to snicker).
Why would he trust Taylor more than her???????
Oh he trusts Taylor alright. He trusts her to do exactly as Taylor deems correct and damn the consequences; because clearly any negative ones were because other people were being stupid or irrational.
Which is exactly why he's not giving her more weapons. He already made that mistake once.

One of the best things rolled out of the story this late was the fact that times moves faster inside when Joe is outside of the Workshop, because it makes the story actually move forwards. Wasn't a big fan of him bringing the spiritron time shenanigans outside that ends up slowing down the story again.

Meanwhile in Brian's mind: Because of course Aisha found the absolute most dangerous person possible to annoy.

He might actually faint when he learns just how too late he is to head that off. Heart attack probable if he hears that she snuck into Joe's workshop.

(Joe, take your revenge! Call her Lethe when walking off to let them have their inevitable 'private family chat'!)

🙏The most ridiculous perk rolled during the conversation with Brian please!🙏

A few thousand years of transformers memories or the Arch magos perk. Ill even take Truth, I live for that shit.

Cause he spent Years of subjective time with Aisha watching her grow up maturing. Good and Bad.

Taylor has yet to see the Early Joe at his worst.

On a related topic? The Gym area is under which Gangs protection?

Is it in danger of Taxation by another Gang strapped for Cash?

Edit; Also all the Cade 53's wandering the area. When they hear how one of their own got Lucku and was paid in advance.. how much Good Deeds will flood the area?

As in, dp they work together or just Freestyle it?

It was historically under the protection of being full of big men who are trained to fight. Most of the idiots the gangs send to extract protection money are cowards who rely on the reputation of the gang to intimidate the people they are trying to tax. Being more personally intimidating, or being clearly willing to beat the stuffing out of them regardless of the gang backing, is usually enough to make them back down.
Of course this has other consequences since a lot of gangs run protection like medieval kings ran taxes; delegate a collector and an amount of required tribute and let the collector figure out the rest. So one group failing to pay up gets pushed onto everyone else in that guy's area.
Combined with being on the periphery of three different gang territories and it was pretty safe to begin with.
Then Garment showed up and now it's "hers" so the gangs are even less likely to push, on account of her being new, powerful, and popular.

Across the gym Brian's face shifted from shock to horror then to a kind of blank stunned expression as he began quickly speaking with Vince. And from Vince's expression and Brian's reaction to his response, I'm guessing Vince had badly misinterpreted the reason for Brian's sudden shock. Whatever that reason was, it seemed to amuse Aisha a great deal.
Well now I really wanna know what the hell he said to Vince...

Brian! What would Alec think?

I wasn't sure if that was flirting or a creative collaboration. Frankly, there was a lot of crossover with that kind of thing when it came to Garment. I mean, I had seen that for myself.

Can people at Gym really presume Joe and Brian are exes? Think about it, at this point rumour mill got everybody to speed about the thing Joe told to Doug about his college situation, plus Mr. Gartenberg had a talk about him with Danny who look up some more info from college teachers, so they might know even more than what Joe told. Add to this the fact they think Brian stopped going to the gym because he found out he is gay, and that was a few years back. With that, the time they would date is either A) before Sabah incident, which we don't know if they know when it took place, but not so before that it before Brian left the Gym B) after Sabah incident, if there is time in after, as again, they might not know when it happened or C) Joe was dating Brian and was trying to get the girl at the same time.

Now, option C is an indictment of Joe's character, and if we consider Joe's and Brian's respective ages, 21 and 17, option B is sketchy and option A is very sketchy. Actually thinking about it, the real question is not if gym people can presume that Joe and Brian dated, it's if they brave enough to presume that Joe dated a minor while in proximity to Ms. Gartenberg after Parian's recent accusation.

Edit: Oh fuck. Imagine Brian finding out that Parian accused that Joe, Apeiron, was "bothering" his little sister. Aisha and Joe thought that their conversation can't get any worse, but there is always a way. Thankfully, Lord is better than engage THIS kind of misunderstanding indulged drama.

Ahhhh Joe finally learned Brian's last name! A monumental achievement!

Personally I'm wondering if we're going to get a different POV for the conversation or if it's going to stick with Joe.

Hah, I forgot he was 17, tbh. I mentally put him at 20, but looking into it, that's his age after the timeskip. I keep forgetting how little time has passed here.

As for the Parian thing, I doubt it will even come up.

Oh, no, cause Brian first goes to horror before blankness. I think it's more of a surprise meeting with an ex as far as vibes are concerned.

I love the mental image of stern and proper Mrs. Gartenberg inwardly really enjoying this last week of being surrounded by a crowd of fit and muscular men who obey her and compete for her favor.

Also, she might remain aloof on the exterior but her inner dialogue would reveal that Joe has become one of her favorite characters in her personal soap opera.

Prediction: the next time Mrs. Gartenberg approaches Joe it will be with the intent of having him meet her granddaughter (or a close analog. For the lolz I'd love to see her trying to hook Joe up with Faultline. 😁)

Joe is way more trusting of Aisha than he is of Taylor, despite Aisha being much more of a fuck up and idiot, as this latest escapade shows. She's not so much threatening Joe's identity here, given his capabilities, but rather showing her own disregard for his desire for privacy once again.

Then again, without his hypocrisy and rush to judge people, we wouldn't have the doormat we all hate to love and love to hate.
...Really? Aisha didn't freaking delimb a Ward on live television with Joe's knife. That pretty obviously has a lot to do with it.

He gave them those knives after they had been attacked by Oni Lee and Lung. He knew on every real level he had no control over what they used them for after he sold them, but in his mind they were for dealing with threats like those assholes. And the history of the Undersiders prior to the bank job was them hitting mainly gang locations and running away, not going after a freaking bank and fighting superheroes.

That obviously wasn't enough of a deal-breaker for him to try to cut ties or anything, but if it impacted his judgement of her, it should. The level of acceptance for violence in stories people have tends to be pretty broad, but I'd sure as hell keep it in mind if I sold somebody a gun for self-defense and they used it to attack a cop when they were robbing a bank. It might not be the end of our relationship, depending, but I'd keep it in mind.

Aisha also rescued him after the whole Lung fight... And hasn't attacked any heroes IIRC. Hypocrisy my ass, the first thing Taylor did with her defensive costume was try to figure out a way to attack someone with it. There's a reason she took the expressway to hell in canon whereas most people never even heard of Imp, and it's not just Taylor's power to blame. There are different kinds of 'irresponsible'.

Nah, Aisha can probably do that reveal herself then and there. Remember, she already had some degree of localized control over her power even before she started using Call Gems. She could totally do a magical transformation in front of Brian that literally nobody else could notice and chat about the Celestial Forge in broad daylight without any help from Joe.

This would be the perfect time for Joe to get a significant new power and the surprise makes him temporarily lose control of his assortment of innuendo powers…
"Oh, hi~ Brian! You didn't tell me you used to, come, here? Your sister has been telling me a~ll about your new friend Alec; she's ever so helpful, isn't she?"
