Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

You know, that book... the promise of such [DATA], that is probably enough on its own for some Shards to spontaneously find religion.

The mental images that come to mind amuse me, very much.

Yeah, the Dark age of technology had some seriously busted shit. Like the ontological gun, which retroactively erases someone from existence, throughout all of time. Or the weapon which shoots black holes at people which causes them to travel 1 microsencond back in time and crash into themselves causing a time paradox which removes them from the timeline.

And there is so much more, like say the perpetual motion machines and such. The dark age of technology is just the gift that keeps on giving, nightmares that is.

Tecton, whose head is level with Gully's chest: "Yes, I can see why you picked that, it's very... fitting."
Just barely not level actually; according to the Space Marine Height Chart she could use his head as a boob-rest.
The world is not ready for Ravine The Bone Shatterer, The Floor Breaker, The Dominator! Neither is Everett but he will have no choice but to confront this absolute unit now with Limited Edition Garment Made Accessories.
He nodded and leaned back in his own chair. "So, Garment?" Gully nodded. "Nothing I brought with me is going to be close to dressy enough for tonight, is it?"

"I'm sure it won't be that bad." Gully said. Everett raised an eyebrow and Gully dropped her head. "Honestly, I'm not sure what to expect. I've never really had fashion be a thing for me before, and now I'm going from zero to Garment."
Clearly Ravine needs to bring Everett to Garment so that they can both use him as a dress-up doll.

The ceremony was massive, possibly the most significant thing that had been done in the history of the Laboratorium. The significance of the Pleician Tome within the faith of the Adeptus Mechanicus was hard to convey. The skulls and machine spirits were absolutely beside themselves. The honor of even being in the presence of a relic of the caliber of the Pleician Tome was nearly enough to overwhelm the systems, before kicking them into overdrive.
Yeah, the second I heard what the perk was I was wondering what the skulls and machine spirits reactions were gonna be. So freaking funny.

"So, nice job." Aisha said, "I liked the part when you opened the book."
Oh man, that's funny. I can just imagine Aisha coming in on the Adeptus Mechanicus ritual, turning to a nearest fabricator general and just blurting this out.

Fabricator General in question: angry binary screeching!!!

Like the ontological gun, which retroactively erazes someone from existence, throughout all of time.
Luckily, we have no evidence it's ever been fired.

Are you accounting for her having leaned over?

Does anyone know what the last Warhammer perk is? I'm looking through the reference sheet and can't find it.

Gang*
Director Piggot wanted me hidden away from medical observation.
Hidden away from *medial* attention/ Hidden away *for* medical observation.
Nice chapter. Really love the outside povs and yeay more warhammer stuff. That this tome is only 500cp is such bullshit. Yes you need reallllly much prior knowledge and some specific perks to use it but that is only a matter of time for a forger and then he has acces to part of what let humanity dominate the universe and later survive all that shit in this universe while basically sabbotaging itself. That is wild shit

Oh good gods, "Ravine". Gully, are you trying to kill the poor boy?

And "I like the part where you opened the book." Many chuckles in this one, also much warm fuzziness.

They were led out of the lobby by an older woman who seemed slightly out of place with the rest of the PRT staff.
That bitch Ms Grey is some mole, Cauldron patsy or worse, I tell'ya. I mean, now there is just too much focus on the fact she is out of place to not be a some sort of plot point. Yeah, it might be about the fact she is from NY and not local, but still.

Also, there were many loses in the evens around and in Ungodly Hour, but Dennis might be subject to the worst loss yet.
"Holding up traffic will do that." Clockblocker said in a light tone. The levity seemed somehow out of place for someone with so serious a reputation, but Tecton appreciated the effort.
He lost his jokester rights. How will he cope now?!

Vista is still a little, but very indignant hater. Look at that angry munchkin, needed to be calmed by her team leader, who also in secret seeks help from the subject of her hate. So much drama. Wonder how that story line resolves itself.

Everett's reaction to Gully is to pick up, meanwhile Gully's reaction to Everett is to pick up. Same words, two distinct meanings, one date by the end of the day. Wins all around.

Actually, I think I remember someone talking about the fact that there apperently should be more mass and energy in the universe according to our calculations than what there is. And well, we can maybe extrabolate in the 40k universe that, that kind of weaponry might very well be the case why. Just tons of energy and matter removed from existence by wars and shit. The case we saw was an anti personel weapon used by a dark angel. But imagine it being scaled up to star ship level weapons. This shit is right up the alley the C'tan would hang around in after all. They love messing with time. Like their own superweapon they used to eat stars from the future and past. And when mishandled by a bit too ambitious tech priest almost collapsed time itself, as it was never meant to be used by a creature with such a limited view of time as a "regular" human.

If Apeiron has 1 million haters, Vista is one of them, if Apeiron has 1 hater Vista stands alone, if Apeiron has 0 haters Vista is dead.

Wow. I just love how Tecton is viewing the Wards, versus how they view themselves. It's such a difference!!

Poor Clockblocker, just when he wants to be the least responsible, he is now viewed with awe by so many other Wards.

You know, once this is all over and Piggot has been stepped back, The Wards will get a chance to do visits to other cities and get freaked out as to how their peers view them.

So Aisha will finally come clean to Brian?

Also, am I the only one uncomfortable with Gully's new looks and the reactions? How old is she exactly? Also, how old is Tecton? And Garment and Flechette for that matter?

Not sure about the rest, but Garment is probably either a few weeks old or else as old as the concept of fashion itself, depending on how you look at it.

Garment see above, Gully is a bit hard to say (biologically no clue, but presumably a teenager or someone would have said something after she shifted back into her original form, but how do you decide mental age for someone who woke up with no concrete memories but all the behaviour you learn as a child still there a few years ago?)
Flechette is 17 at this point, Tecton no clue (part of the protectorate in 19.4, so probably also around there?

Joe will finally find out that Brian and Aisha are siblings. But would their father Mr. Laborn find out that his children are parahuman? He would be right there. How did that work out in canon Worm by the way?

Everett being "omg you're adorable" *glomp* to Tiny Gully is the best thing. Then the Ravine situation. Then Clockblocker reminding us that underneath all the competence and badassery he's still the kid that yelled Clockblocker in the middle of a press conference because he didn't like his "boring" assigned name.
But Aisha being sarcastic at Joe (again) continues to be funny too. It's good that she keeps it tucked away for special moments like this though, wouldn't want that to become her whole personality like in some fics.

I had a modified picture of Gully 2.0 but I think I need to change her G to an R. Which, now I think about it, is an excellent visual pun about reaching adulthood.
Speaking of which, according to the last but one chapter she's about to enter the Protectorate so for the purposes of legal age requirements she's 17.9 ish. Her actual experiential age is still indeterminate until Lethe can return her memories but the US government on earth bet thinks she's basically an adult. I think that makes her "older" than Tecton too; he's a Ward team leader but his interludes don't specifically mention an impending "graduation" of any sort.
Flechette is a similar age and can't wait to get out of the Wards where her three-parent situation no longer matters.
As for Garment… how old is Fashion? Her physical embodiment is a pair of white gloves that are either two weeks old or were teleported from some other universe where they have existed forever, or maybe something else entirely. Her existence as a "spirit of fashion" is completely outside human context.

Gully, to my mind, certainly acts like a quite mature young 20-something (21-23). I don't get any skeeve reactions from her and Tecton. Tecton's a team leader, so logically he's close to legal adulthood. Given the vagueness of Gully's actual age, it's a reasonable relationship.

It feels fine to me, is what I'm saying, but YMMV.
