Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

isn't that already Survey's entire civilian life or are you saying you want someone specialized for trials on the team?

Either way Survey would destroy Ace in legal trial combat, seriously. And anyone stupid enough to take a case that far deserves it based on her results so far in the fic and how the people on the other side of agreements have reacted
but would Survey be a defense lawyer or a prosecutor?

Oh shit, you right. If people start assuming she has brute/breaker rating they will go ballistic on her. More than usual I mean. Then again, with this new suit its not that far from the truth is it? I am pretty sure everything that could deal fatal damage to supposed breaker Khepri will be just as effective against real Khepri and she will try to avoid it anyway. Except annihilator powers, I suppose swarm Taylor could shrug these off while real Taylor will get one way ticket to shardspace (no guarantees that Joe wont hijack the ride though)

Not necessarily people are aware of Apeiron being really strong and that he cares about Kephri cause of how the bakuda conversation went down and the obvious gear differences. Due to this when she got hit by Scrub's blast he along with everyone else there including gully and manpower were freaking out over him being mad and Scrub continued doing so during the rock. For non annihilators the armour should be more than fine and due to the possible power interactions annihilators and Apeiron's scanning abilities probably aren't going to be too keen to try to seriously atk Kephri.

I did not expect her armor to have that effect on her silk and her general durability. I thought only 'Joe' got that ability where he got the same durability as something he was wearing as I thought it was a power her had, not an aspect of Tinkering. Or is this a different power that I lost track of?

The armor plates enforce their durability rating on the rest of Taylor's clothes and herself as intended.
However since her clothes are made from spider silk she can simply add more silk to them to spread the effect, as if she added some lace to a dress, as the extra silk threads would be considered to be "part of" her clothes/armor.
IMO the text isn't clear on whether or not the bugs count as "Taylor" enough to be similarly protected too, let alone any silk they independently carry.

Shouldn't it be Proto Aima?
Greg. 'nuff said.

she can do both, she knows the law better then anyone alive, has charisma is super model pretty which will either make people take her more seriously or underestimate her, either way she can use both states to her advantage. She will also unironically become a famous lawyer with a flawless record in the business world because of her public association with garment.

IF the locker indecent blows up and becomes a public thing where the PRT are implicated and all, it will become national news and she will 100% take on that case pro bono/cheap on behalf of Taylor. She will already be publicly famous to semi famous which at that point which will take her civil persona too even greater fame.

The chaapter before the latest one made a point too show how she destroys everyone in social combat especially face to face with her mere presence. Even the lawyers of the elite, I repeat the lawyers of the elite, that stands tall in the nepa-5 anti parahuman laws got rolled more or less on screen.

She's like a meme level super legal expert able too easily get both legal and "legal" qualifications to do both defense and prosecution.

tldr:she can do everything from criminal and civil too business on both sides. IMO at least, and if she can't right now she will in 3 days if need be and the justice system isn't exactly barry allen

edit: sorry, I rant a lot when I'm passionate over a story...

Greg shook his head. "No, it's all there. One of my friends on PHO is sure of it. She knows a lot about Case 53s and says every one of them is talking about how he came up with a treatment for himself."
GstringGirl? Sveta? I wouldn't mind an Interlude from their point of view at the Parahuman Asylum. It would be interesting to see how they are reacting to Apeiron and the thing with Weld.

Oh hey, Taylor?

The internet thinks you're hot enough to be a model.

Taylor: ".....so anyways my bugs can do this now."

*facepalms*

So Emma will be working at the Fashion Show. Am I the only one hoping she ends up with egg on her face? Like she doesn't get to work with Garment because Garment says she doesn't want her modeling her clothes or something. I'm hoping for some good old-fashioned schadenfreude here
Emma probably won't be able to resist harassing someone (what with how vulnerable she's feeling), and get kicked out by Garment.

My main takeaway from this chapter (apart from what everyone else has already discussed) is how Taylor is finally going to reconnect to her father by way of scowling at paperwork.

Garment will unveil her OHKO Super Move: La Chancla :V
Nah. Emma would just use any hostility toward herself as either proof of strength or a test of strength.

Seems like a very Shard thing to do. Taylor really is a exceptionally good Host.

"Watch?" She called out, silent to everyone beyond the range of the forcefield. "Can you scan these documents?"

"Scan complete. Full digitization available. Would you like a display of the material?" The electronic voice replied.
"Um, watch? Could you take a set of scans that look like cell phone photos? Like, still readable, but something that would pass as coming from a kind of mid-level phone?"

"Emulation of cell phone camera techniques and metadata is possible. Do you wish to simulate the photos from existing records, or follow a specific arrangement?"
Survey is definitely going to see this right? I have to imagine given Survey's nature that she goes through everything the Undersiders scan. The question being is that after Survey analyzes the document will approach Taylor and her dad as Delphine Mertens and offer up her help? Maybe she'll also try to get Joe involved since he has an invested interest in Taylor's survival.

It would be rather refreshing and neat if Delphine Mertens just showed up to represent the family.

Taylor needs legal help/advice. She actually doesn't have a clue who to ask. As far as she knows, Lisa is her thinker. Joe? If he craft something for her, she doesn't have a clue that he has a team lawyer.

I'd love for Survey to see this, know that it's a slight invasion of privacy, but Taylor really needs the help and it would take time to explain everything to Joe. Better to arrange scary legal advice to just show up and glare at Blackwell. Well, that's what Blackwell would want, but there wouldn't be much left of Blackwell after the fact.

To be honest, there would be tons of time for Survey to chat with Joe. They've got pretty much a high bandwidth connection at need. She could explain everything in less than a millisecond and Joe could say Go Save her! We could also read about 10K words between Survey and Joe discussing if Delphine Mertens should show up and how to get Danny's preapproval. It'd still take only 2 milliseconds in real-time though.

Been looking at random jump documents and saw that the Link Between Worlds one has 'infinitely replenishing supply' of paint that 'can be mixed to any colour you desire'.

That + Niethbow + Pipes Pipes Pipes = infinite flow of liquid cognitohazards

You know, that's actually one of the best/easiest ways for Joe to beat Zion that I've seen so far. All he needs to do is find Zion's body, then flood the place with a combo of Peligin (the unknowable unknown, invoking dread and uncertainty) and Gant (never remember and yet never forget the worst of your life and yourself) paint. Zion would off himself before even a single percent of his body was covered.

Do you want a more unspeakable eldritch horror? Because it feels like flooding an entity with Peligin and Gant is how you make a new eldritch horror.

If I recall correctly, Taylor's armor plates come from Joe's Item Construction A+++ Perk. He used Fate reinforcement/protection magic to have the armor protect all of Taylor all at the same time; the reason it reinforces the silk (and possibly every bug in Taylor's range) is because, due to Taylor's power, the bugs count as Taylor from a magical perspective.

I doubt the teachers will get significantly impaired by this.

Blackwell, on the other hand... and Sophia's handler... Piggot will throw them under the bus. Politically she can't afford not to (and let's be honest, she's probably pissed at them anyway).

Joe durability come from the Fashion power. Because it's a perk, it's fiat backed to work, but it also won't work for anyone else except for equippable ally when he wear them (Garment and Tetra).

Khepri durability come from a Mystic code built by Item construction A++++ perk (reinforced by a bazillion supporting powers). Since it's not directly written in the perk, it's not fiat backed to work. It's still ridiculously powerful through.

Actually, Joe didn't have Item Construction A+++ when he made the armor plates. Item Construction A+++ came in chapter 70: 55 Processing Time, while the plates were made in chapter 69: 54 Overtime. Joe even notes that he could do much better once he got Item Construction A+++. The plates were made primarily using Thaumaturgical Focus: Alchemy

Relevant Quotes:

I sighed and looked down at my work. The collection of replacement and supplemental plates for Taylor's costume were spread out on the workbench. The material was Skyforged, volcano infused, Dust enhanced lathe metal that had been formed in microgravity. The plating was of absolutely ridiculous quality even before the enchantments were considered, but the real meat of the project was binding the reinforcement spell work to the mystic code.

That would have been a significant challenge without my second Thaumaturgical Focus ability. With the expanded understanding of alchemic magecraft tying in the spell work was child's play. Manipulating energy in materials was as easy as breathing, which had been proven when one of my duplicates had decided to enter the spar with nothing but mana infused mithril wire.

First, the final skill. I had also been granted the Item Construction skill, an innate ability to produce magical items, and one practically essential given the nature of my origin as a Heroic Spirit. The important thing was the rating. With this power I had been granted Item Construction A+++. That was literally the highest rank possible before the EX designation had to be used to describe abilities beyond conventional behavior. It was as strong as the skill could get before it basically stopped being Item Construction and started being something else.

Earlier that day I had managed to cobble together a mystic code meant to protect Taylor by reinforcing her costume. I had designed and built it with the understanding of reinforcement magic and energy transfer I received from my Thaumaturgical Focus powers. I had been moderately proud of it at the time. I now realized what a sloppy, amateurish attempt that had been.

In regards to Survey having access to the scans of the paperwork and offering help:

If I remember correctly than there isn't a copy/version of Survey running on the watches the Undersiders got. Nor does she have direct access. They are running a specially created and rather simplistic VI, which currently only sending medical and power scans. Survey would have to violate the don't scare the Undersiders off using their watches directive to get those paperwork scans.

On the other hand, Taylor is about to discuss that paperwork with her father. Who will likely look around for some legal advise on them. Allen Bares is out, as he is an divorce lawyer, so he will ask is contacts for recommendations. Some of those contacts, like Mrs. Gartenberg, Doug [forgot his lastname] or Marcus Laborne might point him in the direction of one Delphine Martens. Who, due knowing that Taylor is important to Joe, is likely to be quite happy about taking the case.

It's Survey. Joe just asks her to not act on it without first talking to the relevant people. So Survey has a digital copy but Joe told her to sit on it until she gets asked. She totally would take it pro bono as Delphine Martens, but until she gets asked...
