Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

The second item was a Computer Hub. It provided a mainframe that was unquestionably top of the line by conventional standards, but severely lacking by any of my current metrics. It came with a full complement of supporting equipment, printers, scanners, and the like, but it was all mules below my current level of technology.
miles

mules works as well though.
I mean, although mules are a step up from the old hamster, they're still not full on computing capability.

and a greater moderation of force that anyone could reasonably expect."

that refers to an object

It's just common sense.
A basement exists, obviously it's going to turn into Khazad-dûm.
What would you expect!?
Some dwarves to put in it first?

I wonder how Yellow's handling Survey?
You do not Handle Survey. Survey back checks, forward checks and divinely checks and then handles you.

Looks like Uppercrust is getting his personal Simurgh protection trinket.
Forgot that and I would expect his entire cell will as having an entire information gathering organisation compromised is contraindicated. And that will also piss off a lot of people.

Spaceship-blocked once again. Damn you, chance! I will have my SPACESHIP! I don't care if it'll be useless, if it'll sty in the hangar for the resto of the story if it won't be mentioned again (though I hope it won't be the case) I WANT SPACESHIP!

BTW. What is the "Viking Saga"? I know what it is from a historical perspective, but with fiction, I'm getting too many hits from the spy, I mean google. Or is it from the actual Sagas?

!Damn, that last scene! If Ape said "You are getting what your paid for" like the handsome devil he is it would have been perfect! :D

And as always, every, single, scene Uppercrust appears in is a delight to read, between him and Chubster this fic really have the best may-as-well-be-an-OC in any Worm fic I have read!

I'm not sure if it's in the original document but could you please just force feed him the ability that enables him to deactivate his powers
This will never fully happen. Joe received the medallion from Monster Hunter that will limit some stuff, but one of the core tennants of this fic is exploring how a Jumpchain would be dealt with if it was out of your control. Ordinarily you would choose to go to Bayonetta and know what you were signing up for, (getting a sexy power forced on you to match the game's tone) Joe just started being forced to be pose sexily one day. If you have too many perks that activate automatically, you can take a universal control perk or in the worst case scenario go to a specific jump that will give you a perk to manage, negate, or turn off your problem perk. Joe can not and by design never will have that option, he is going to need to learn to live with his new found powers. He is becoming a God, but that means every move he makes, every flick of a pen when he writes something down, every time he makes a sandwich will cause his authority over reality to kick in. He needs to learn to live with that in a world that values secret identities very much, where he wants a secret identity very much, a normal life, an escape from being Apeiron where he can hang around the gym without needing to explain his inexplicable new body types and fighting styles. It is something he is going to constantly struggle with and is meant to be a major theme of the story.
I'm just glad we are finally beginning the Slaughterhouse curb stomp arc, don't get me wrong these chapters have been great but sometimes you just want to see serial killers get their butts kicked.
While Joe is going to be more active, the S9 is going to be months from now IRL. In as close to sequential order as I can guesstimate (however this is only me guessing I could be way off, so take this all with a lot of salt) we have 1-2 more chapters of this negotiation, 1 chapter of downtime, 1-2 chapters of Joe's therapy in the afternoon, 1-2 Chapters covering Alec's phone call, 2-3 chapters covering Tetra becoming a Kamui, 2-3 chapters covering Fleet going to Faultline's. 3-9 Workshop chapters since Joe will have 12 hours of downtime(This is also the estimated in universe timeframe for when Bakuda's code will be cracked which will probably lead to more sub plots and we know we are supposed to have an Armsmaster interlude soonish so I expect that to be around here). 4-8 chapters covering Garment's auction. Then probably 1-3 chapters of prep to assemble the gear and go over the plan to defeat the 9 + making the Siberian connection. Then we will have the S9 battle. After which Lord has said there will be an extended post battle cooldown period before we hit an arc that he is very excited about where a lot of pieces come together. For what it's worth Lord has said he is looking to have the week done (I'm going to be conservative and assume he means end of Friday not Saturday, but who knows we might get even further) by the end of 2022.

I had never heard of full metal panic until this chapter. When he was describing the effects of that 'reaching outside causality to learn things he shouldn't be able to know', my first thought was actually the Zero Escape games.

I say this forum needs an emote for what I'm feeling for this chapter. Why is there no 'Awe'?

Between interruptions of work, pets and family, this chapter took me most of my day to read, and it's been a ponderous march of emotions inevitably heading towards the payoff that is the chapters' ending.

I adore this fic. Just sayin'. If anyone ever asks for the wormfic with the best characterisations, I won't hesitate to direct them here.

the whispers from the Tay wave.
Stay away from the Tay wave. That way lies only escalation.

Darkness. Darkness before darkness as a concept existed. I moved, devoid of eyes. Without limbs or mind, I moved. I lived, I ate and I grew.
This legitimately gave me goosebumps on my everything.

The taste of the primal matter of existence, vial and phenomenal all at once,
vile?

No one understood the principles behind why the one sword was shaper, harder,
sharper.

I couldn't address with the workmanship or three mythologies at my fingertips
of.

Most scandinavian languages use "Oden". Odin is english and also oddly pronounced afaic.

Stumbled upon this and though of the story.
Are the dinosaurs wearing the armor, or is the armor wearing the dinosaurs? *insert disco-mom meme here*

Man I am pretty sure that I should react more about Uppercrust being now on Team Forge (and hope that LordR will reevaluate his statement that Aisha is the one and only parahuman ever to enter the Workshop) but last few days were a bitch so I'll just say: Hell Yeah Big Payoff!

Aisha: So how it went?
Joe: I'm pretty sure I have just gone through "Deal with the Devil" scenario. In a role of a Devil.
Aisha: Did you take his soul?
Joe: What!? No!
DupliJoe: Well, he did say "Everything"...
Joe: No! Seriously, don't even joke about it!

Uppercrust is going to love the anti-Simurgh cover if he gets one. Re-reading the meeting he had with Piggot, it seems like he's been attacked by 5 Simurgh bombs already and that's not counting recurring visits by Mannequin.

Looks like Uppercrust is getting his personal Simurgh protection trinket.
Maybe, but that wouldn't be this. This thing that he's making right now is something that fits with the idea of him being a power tinker. Simurgh protection devices are impressive, but they're not connected with the power tinker idea. That's primarily his arcane craft projects such as Ren.

Before I go back to double check, anyone remember if his own tinker power counts as magic that can be influenced by the arcane craft like parahuman powers do?

What we could obtain could provide victory.

Now, I guess this is technically fine? But, the structure of "could obtain could provide" is just a teensy bit awkward to me. Maybe rephrasing it might be a better idea. Or just say "what we could obtain might provide victory" or something.

No, do not have any need to dress up a new cape as an overpowered scapegoat.

"No, I do not"... or something like that?

Two Capstone-or-near-it level creation perks in one chapter!? Psychic superscience and reality editing... the Dupes are gonna overhaul everything!

Basically it was a generic norse myth jump from the early days of jump making. Back before they started titling jumps generic this and generic that. It was made about the same time as the Wuxia jump. Some time in the first hundred or so jumpchain threads over on tg.

But he already built and launched a super space ship though?
What is this? Did this perk just give Joe a basic hoe? Or is this some kind of Divinely Crafted Hoe made by Norse Dwarves?
It is a hoe of hoe destruction. It needs no divine power to smite the unrighteous with infinite fury might and power!!!
