Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

@LordRoustabout This is the third day after the meeting right?

Isn't Uppercrust leaving this hella late? I thought he had 4 days before he was setting out for his next maintenance appointment, 3 days ago.

"The whole 'impossible color' thing is enough of a stretch for me. Hearing the back and forth over these 'letters' has convinced me I want no part of this."

"You aren't upset that I'm keeping it from you?" I asked.

She let out a short laugh. "Considering the last thing you kept from me was a room full of overly friendly cybernetic skulls, who, by the way, keep bugging me about the maintenance rituals for my armor, I'm pretty sure that whatever this is, I don't want to know.

Child: "I want to know the things only adults are allowed to know!"

Adult: "I wish I didn't know those things."

I knew what she considered 'comprehensive'. We were probably looking at response plans for every villain in the country.

Be friendly.
Be polite.
Have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
...and everyone you might meet.
...and everyone you don't meet.
Just have a plan to kill everyone.

Ooh, Gregor and Uppercrust setting up meetings. Can't wait to see how they'll both go totally perfectly with no complications... Though I am going to laugh when Joe finally encounters Noelle and just no-sells her power.

I mean, sure, if it's relevant or you need my help for something, then sure, but until then I'm not going to ask why you have a collection of letters that need some superpowered library magic to be safe to read."
I love that's she met a roomful of disembodied technoskulls, and the most bothersome thing about it is how they keep bugging her about her armor maintenance routine.

I know there was a WoG a while ago that Joe was already better at granting powers than Cauldron, but the fact that he basically figured out how to make Cauldron vials including the side effects this chapter is hilarious. It does suck he didn't follow up on his passenger's reaction to that fact though. Great to see Uppercrust, general Case 53, Weld, Survey, Fleet, and Aisha character/story progression in one chapter!

I'm very excited because it's now Tuesday, so Joe will get his therapy appointment. The therapy scene's are always so well handled, but we also have a great chance for schadenfreude here. As just one example I can see Joe asking for help managing his thoughts on ascending to Godhood and quantifiablely growing stronger with prayer before his therapist just gives up.

So Fleet and Tybalt grabbing drinks, Apeman meeting uppercrust, Garments fashion event... That's three specific events, guess we know what the next 15+ chapters will cover. At least story wise.

With a dyson sphere, Apeiron can now FIAAAA HIIIIIS SOOOOLLAAAARRRR LAZEEEEEEER(if he builds one) until the star it's hooked on expands to a red giant. Which is a long ass time.

They up from their individual books and tasks, with even Survey shifting her apparent attention while actually extending it through the workshop and towards a dozen different tasks.
looked?
I nodded. Was able to get through the main points." I assured her.
"I was able?
"Okay, it's kind of messy, but parahumans can fill the same role as the danger beasts that were used as materials Teigu. Particularly if they have a physical expression of their powers, like a permanent alteration or changer effect."
materials for the Teigu?
'Also, medical scans.' The second transmitted. 'Date from the Undersiders and even Aisha. Not anything to act on, but it'll provide a theoretical groundwork.'
Data from the?
Aisha whistled. "Damn. And it's really that easy?" I shrugged.
You're going to give Vista a run for her money."
missing"

I would essentially be handing out mystery vials that would either grant overwhelming power, or cause horrible side effects up to and including death.

Okay, what the hell was my passenger's reaction to that about?

Okay people, we all know what needs to happen...we need an Omake about Contessa serving the Celestial Forge and "The Tinker" know as Apeiron (The Enigmatic Artificer) with a complaint for "Violating the Trademark possessed by the entity henceforth referred to as Cauldron on their power vials®".

Could someone get on with it please?

It's funny that you assume that Survey would only have plans to eliminate potential threats. If she doesn't have a shipping chart somewhere in her database after her continued exposure to the internet, I'll eat my shoes.

Alexandria needs to rebrand after Survey shows her Library.

As a final item, the power had included a basic weapon. It was just a sturdy short sword, but that sturdiness was enough to not be instantly destroyed by a weapon-type Teigu, which was actually fairly significant.
Not a duelling cape? Given that is supposedly his iconic weapon. I figure the Kamui will at least include a duelling cape.
'Also, medical scans.' The second transmitted. 'Date from the Undersiders and even Aisha. Not anything to act on, but it'll provide a theoretical groundwork.'
What about the waters of Lethe that Aisha made way back when Joe needed help to make Mithril? Isnt that a way to safely extract a physical manifestation of her power?

Also - Uppercrust can source a great many things. Make the contract include having a few capes produce similar power manifestations for him.

Could he observe Lily using Sting and invent a material that would hold that charge permanently? Because a Sting Teigu would resolve some big things.
since I couldn't even attempt a repair without at minimum triggering Stylish Mechanic,
Given all the perks that supposedly let him work in these stylistic flourishes without compromising functionality, shouldn't making 'maintain his civilian identity as a mundane repairman' the purpose of his repair project restrict the style perks to 'as flawless as possible without triggering suspicions that he might be abnormal'?

The names and descriptions for those last two powers are hilarious.

Also, this whole situation with Tattletale is bad. Why? Because she knows that Dinah was kidnapped and is now being abused. Joe is trusting her again and again to not so much as even look in coil's direction.

Joe will eventually find out what happened, and that Tattletale still didn't tell him. He takes what happened at the bank heist to be partly his fault. That fault is going to get compounded when he realizes he facilitied kidnap and abuse/torture/rape(Coil is a sick bastard, you never know) of a child and Lisa knew, but didn't tell him because it wasn't convenient for her.

Honestly, Survey could do a far better job at this than Lisa. The fact that he's trusting her so much should have appropriate ramifications.

Edit: Whoops, wrote Missy instead of Dinah. I fucking forgot her name lol.

So, what happens if one of Joe's duplicates slap a pie or gel into his face, "Perfect Hair" happens?

If he got shaved bald by a military crewcut reject, it grows back?

Will someone say the phrase..

"I make this look GOOD!"

Yeah even by just having a social life the celestial forge improve the quality of life of the city by their presence. And the sheer meta weight of some of their abilities. Like divine blessing of administrations. Or 'just' too much AI being helpful to someone that actually is asking for constructive critiques.

No. Have a plan to kill ANYONE, AND a plan to kill EVERYONE. They are subtly different concepts.
