Wlel, in spite of my statement, it could be Fuyutsuki is doing that for the sake of the scenario. Keep in mind he wanted to expose Gendo, GEHIRN and maybe also SEELE. So he does have some ideals. Of course, seeing Yui again would be a nice bonus.

Of course, that is the charitable interpretation. The less charitable interpretation that Fuyutsuki is basically "male Ritsuko". Just as Ritsuko just ignored that, if Gendo's plan comes together, he will be with Yui... Fuyutsuki simply ignores that if the plan comes together, Yui will be with Gendo.

Though, really, either way Fuyutsuki would simply continue with Gendo's scenario if Gendo just died.

The placement is a bit ambiguous but both of them either have sweat or tears on their faces. All that has me trying to rewind the story in the picture. What happened 30 seconds ago? The elipsis in Asuka's answer tell me that she is unsure. She is ASUKA FREAKING LANGLY! The Second Child. The warrior that Spartans(your choice which ones) and Klingons salute! And she's not sure about holding a baby? This isn't the scene in a happy home. Or at least it is a happy home, but this is a bad night.

All that said, it's a wonderfully composed, powerful image that hit me right in the gut and left me with a very visceral reaction.

I can see what you are talking about from your perspective, if it was a stand alone picture.


With Gendo, Yui and Shinji, I see a upset Shinji and a frustrated Gendo, with Gendo passing off the brat-I mean his dear son, to Yui, who knows what the fuck she is doing.

With the Shinji, Asuka and Junior, I see Asuka demanding to hold Junior. Headcannon for the picture, is normally Shinji gets up during the night to calm and feed Junior. Cause Shinji is Shinji. Asuka decided to take care of Junior this night, why? Maybe she felt bad and Shinji was tired? So Shinji, who is not use to this, makes sure that Asuka is okay with it, and Asuka being Asuka, got a little ticked.

So yeah, that's my take on those pics.

I always thought of it, that there were two different S2 Organ types. One is the Adamite, fruit of life/power, with the lasers and reality breaking. The Lilithian, fruit of knowledge/individuality, is used for intellect. I always imagined it as a small, grain sized piece, located in the brain.
 
Silly, Adam is not Fruit of life. Adam is Seed of life.
Lilith is Birth-mother of Concepts. S2 Womb is Fully Functional in all aspects. Guardian/teacher/student/mother, it all about information preservation, and dispersal, on all levels...

Plus, that wouldn't be a S2 engine. The entire thing about the S2 engine is that it is a power generator. Hence "Life".

What? Have you visited the Time Cube site recently?

Adam and Lilith are BOTH seeds of life. But Adam carried the Fruit of Life, and Lilith the Fruit of Knwoeledge.

Hmmm. Using it as a way to dehumanise Rei is an angle I hadn't previously considered; maybe it has merit beyond a vaguely irritating fandom cliche to subvert, like all those fanfics that assume Gendo must be going down to the cages to monologue at Unit-01.

Given that Evangelions have had bits from other units added in for repairs... she has sewn together mothers...

Oh, and to be clear, Spam means I dump them all on you now; hoard means I save them to release later (probably not all at once).

So it's basically a case of 'when do you want them?'

Once again, why should Asuka care? Yes, Mengele probably was a whole lot worse than Ritsuko. So? Why should Asuka have any reason to treat Ritsuko fairly? Ritsuko has hurt Rei. That's all that matters in that context.
