"No shit Sherlock." Trixie snarked back. "Putting that MIT education to good use with your observations eh?"

The goose craned her head some, hearing Trixie speak. "Honk?"

"Eh? You talking 'bout me?"

The goose trundled down the stairs and immediately to Trixie. "…Hey buddy, how's things?"

And Abigail nuzzled her leg, letting out a rather satisfied purr, at least the closest thing to a purr a goose could make.

Trixie acquiesced to the gosling, crouching down and running her hand over their back. "…Heh, you're not bad, eh?"

"Honk!"

Canadians together strong

"That, yeah… and I think I can see sound now?"

Oh... Oh no...

Nonono, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy...

"Yours is a blue-ish, sky or maybe even cerulean, and it's just outside my periphery, looks like… you know how some microphones and stereos have a visualiser on the audio level?"

"Mmhm?"

"Yeah it kinda looks like that, it grows and shrinks as the sound rises and fades… ah fuck I think I figured out why this has happened." In a groan. "I forgot to undo the… brain thingy- synapses of the Evangelion. God Ritsuko's gonna tear me a new one when she finds out-"

Bonus points for accuracy - that's almost exactly what it's like.

"Honestly Ritsuko, I'm as fascinated as you are with this." She smiled. "I mean, I'm sure I'll get over it, but… it's pretty cool. Another perspective and all that."

Narrator: Askua did not get over it. She'll never get over it. Synesthesia is the fucking worst sometimes.

All of which had Asuka utterly enraptured, her eyes wide and locked on to wherever the sounds were, sighing in awe and giggling in ecstasy at how the colours would wax and wane and shift in tone with the music. "Ahheh!"

I mean... from an outsider perspective, suddenly gaining a new perspective like this would be amazing for a week or so. Then... it won't be...
I developed it too young to appreciate it like that.

Also, she's going to fucking hate storms. Thunder is NOT a pleasant colour.
It's an outright terrifying colour.

Both Trixie and Yomiko snapped in sync.

Oh... oh no...

I ship them

"That was a manatee!"

Fact: All manatees are merfolk.

I am appeased by this chapter... except for soon-to-be-poor Asuka getting synesthesia. It's not a fun time.

Could be worse, though - I know somebody who can hear colour.

I can only imagine the utter chaos of Penpen and Abigail somehow meeting. I don't know how well the goose can hold its drink, but a bird beer boffing contest would be both the oddest and most hilarious thing I've ever read.

Also, look at that. We're on my birth year, now, just a shade past EoE's release. To young to experience how it first ended, just old enough to watch Anno walk away with 3.0+1.0. Onward and upward to the release of 1.0 page count!

In the meantime, it's also hailed as a surprisingly great year for film, given the number of highly-regarded and iconic works that graced the silver screen. On of my favorites EVA fics is even inspired by one of them, the still-unfinished 10 things I hate about Eva.

Great as per usual. Read partially on my phone but I have actual things to say this time. :p

*literally all of Asuka having synesthesia*
Oh, this is a fun trip. I didn't fully understand when you explained this to me before, BG, but I do now. :p

That said, was unaware you had it @AustSakuraKyzor . I can definitely see how it might get incredibly old after a while.

"And hey, trust me. You know I got that sense."

"What, like that merman you saw at SeaWorld when we were younger?"

"He was!"

"That was a manatee!"

"You won't ever convince me otherwise Dip!"
He's been trying for their entire teenage years, i'd wager, but alas, the falsity of Mermando the Manatee lies forever wedged in her thoughts. :p

Eliza brow progressively furrowed. "Ah, what connection has your Unix mind made now, Eliza?"
E: "Is it really that obvious?" Lightly jabbing her sister. "Look, all I'm gonna say is I'm gonna be distrustful of folks who have their left eye covered from now on."
A: "Oh come on he's got a completely different voice to her! Not to mention he's obviously got history with the school!"
E: "I trust my algorithms. Ten thousand Yen says he's not just the bad guy for the episode, he's Nui Harime."
A: "You're on!" Hands slapped together. "Easiest money i've ever made in my life."
...
R: "I am interested to hear your thinking, Eliza."
E: "Well there's a few obvious ones like the obscured eye and the fact they both have the same eye colour, not to mention his conviction. He seems way too determined to get to Ryuko, wouldn't he go somewhere like Nudist Beach if he wanted to help the anti-war effort? And how does he know where Ryuko lives anyway, it sounds like he got there before Mako did, so-"
A: "Granted, the Mankanshoku name is well known as the local doctors, and it's well known Ryuko and Mako are practically items at this point in time. And Nudist Beach are really subtle about things, Ryuko isn't. I can kinda understand why one would wanna find her to start with, especially if they were already on the tightly controlled school grounds."
Asuka dramatically pointed to the screen, just as Shinjiro was at the peak of his energetic speech. "And look! His eye isn't blue! It's closer to emerald!"
E: "She could just use contact lenses."
I'm very impressed with this deduction on Eliza's part, BG. Am curious whether this was something you picked up on in advance, or if this is written with hindsight. :p

E: "They certainly aren't being stupid about war. They already control the information infrastructure and can control what gets out, and with their numbers it appears they are well and truly capable of occupying."
M: "About the only thing i'd c-call them out on is not securing airspace, but I don't think that's necessary this time."
To be fair, airspace can be a make or break thing even if you do have the numbers, so that feels like a massive oversight on Satsuki's part.
I'd give real world examples, but I feel like a lot of us come here to escape that. :p

A: "Weren't really paid to understand the Evangelion, you were only the pilot, eh?"
M: "I don't even think I was r-registered as an official Evangelion pilot. We kept having these s-strange administrative issues with Marduk that kept bouncing it back, which sucked cause that meant I wasn't eligible for a proper pilot's w-wage."
Funny, that. Almost as if SEELE NERV knew it wasn't worth the resources... :(

Unfortunately WAFF requires equivalent exchange, so sorry Kaworu I'm picking on you this chapter :V
Fingers crossed it doesn't become a trend. :p

Oh... oh no...

I ship them
Wouldn't have been my own first choice, but... Eh, I can see it. :p

Fact: All manatees are merfolk.
Seconded. :p

Yay! Another Chronicles part! Not...much to say on it though. I'm just waiting for the next episodes.

However...

Oh... Oh no...

Nonono, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy...

I am appeased by this chapter... except for soon-to-be-poor Asuka getting synesthesia. It's not a fun time.

That said, was unaware you had it @AustSakuraKyzor . I can definitely see how it might get incredibly old after a while.

I know it's not the same thing nor even close to what is probably very, very tiresome for someone living with synesthesia...

...but I can't help but think of how nearly everyone I meet say they wished they had my curly hair because it's so pretty and wonder why I don't like it/don't care for it and my simple answer is: I hated taking care of it. It's gotten better now that I do know how to, but oh my gosh I hated combing it before because it always hurt and tiresome and thus I also really didn't like haircuts because the salonists were even less careful with my hair because most people do not know how to handle curly hair, so I was envious of straight hair because I just wanted to comb my hair so easily.

Now I know I had been combing it wrong all this time and now don't really hate combing it anymore.

And also learned that my hair isn't even the curliest kind of curly hair. It's like the bare minimum, as in I almost thought it was wavy once I heard wavy hair was a thing but after looking into it way too much, found it was the loosest kind of curly. Meaning if my hair was the more curly kind, combing it before I learned how to do it without hurting myself could've been even worse.

So yeah.

I'm lucky in that regard.

But still.

I keep wanting to keep telling people "NO I DON'T THINK MY HAIR IS PRETTY BECAUSE IT JUST GAVE ME GRIEF FOR SO LONG SO STOP WISHING FOR CURLY HAIR".

But that would be rude, especially when they're just complimenting me and most of them are either relatives or strangers. :V

excuse me just wanted to rant about my curly hair
excuse me for the digression

Also, she's going to fucking hate storms. Thunder is NOT a pleasant colour.

Like an acidic-grey-purple-dirt-bright-in-a-way-it-shouldnt-be?

Well, you really shouldn't make your life unpleasant for no reason. That being said, it is very pretty and satisfying. Burying your head into one big pillow of soft curly hair is a great pleasure, sublime. Maybe if your SO appreciates it and loves it like I do, it helps you, I hope at least.
I also have rather annoying hair myself, so I get it.

Nah it was an honest administration issue, the database they used had a weird bug which dropped the database if someone's first and last name had the same first letter :V
They got it fixed just in time for Hikari Horaki to become pilot :p

Well that's given me a few new ideas to explore when it comes to it.
And yeah something like that would wear on someone after a while. Especially for loud noises.
Maybe Asuka can undo it by un-rejigging the brain thingies back to how they were, which not many people get the opportunity to do. As long as she doesn't crosswire her arms and legs together :p

I can only imagine the utter chaos of Penpen and Abigail somehow meeting.

It is rare enough to find such encounters in the wild, the best allegory I can give is of the space weather variety so somewhere between Carrington and the more cumbersome Type-II supernovae.

This example only scratches the surface, given the limits of Falconidae compared to Spheniscidae. I mean, Pen Pen spends much of his time in a specialized containment vestibule.

(And happy birthings, Strider. People speed-reading it's Strider's birth year by page count not necessarily the big day itself, so yeah..)
I hated taking care of it.

Come to think of it, while there's a large enough cast of characters in NGE and later works from ex-Gainax Trigger and the like, the only times I can think of where they drew someone with curly hair are over in Puella, Re:Creators and Kill la Kill's respective rosters. While you found it difficult to get it to stay put, animators found it immensely time consuming to position each coiling bundle during that character's movements in a scene.

Allow me to wish a special happy 91st birthday to a legendary figure from a sci-fi franchise as beloved as, if not highly more so than, Evangelion. A man whose golden voice can induce terror in even Bardiel the Angel of Haze, enough for me to belatedly recommend his album The Transformed Man for a future Chronicles round. The one, the only, Mr. William Shatner.

Multiply that by HP Lovecraft-on-a-bender and you'll be pretty close, yeah
Yeah. Something like that.
I dont have projective synesthesia, only associative synesthesia and it isnt something I notice by default. Sound to colour and sound to texture for me, both ways.
Asuka's lucky - I'd love to have that option.
Of course, knowing my luck, once I do that, I'll miss the damn thing
I have taken the approach of weaponizing my defective central nervous system. I wouldn't be able to understand mathematics if I wasnt a little bit crazy at least. There are a lot of reasons to think about hyperbolic spaces and not many to think about what'ifs and how there is some untold amount of people who doesnt get me, that I dont even have personal relationships to.
