Monster would already exist in their world. That series began releasing in japan in 1994. It wouldn't be finished though as the 10th manga volume was released in October of 1998, well after SI. Thus in the chronicles world, they'd only have the first 9 manga books out of the total 18. The story was quite literally cut in half.
Second Impact was in 2000.

That aside, the series still wouldn't be finished but would in fact be up to the 14th volume, with only the final 4 volumes absent.

I wonder why 1998 was stuck in my head? Oh well, brain fart.

End of Evangelion + 1 year. Legend of Zelda on the N64?

Anyway, one of the best things about revisiting Evangelion these days is it gave time for the manga to wrap up (2014) the light novel ANIMA to finish its magazine run (2015) and Anno to finally throw his hands in the air and say "your guess is as good as mine!!" when eyepatch Asuka came on the scene. With all that in context, let's not stop and argue about when Second Impact happened, or what 2nd party and 3rd party content never finished production. It is overshadowed by the fact that billions of people experienced death by Antarctic Adam snu snu.

Instead, perhaps give OP a chance to do the finishing touches on the penultimate chapter, by focusing on what direction A&T might be headed in our discussion. Just my Unit-02 sense.

I did say anime not manga.

Series existing in the world of Chronicles hasn't stopped it from being added to the polling list, at least.
Actually getting voted for is another question that's left up to the public :V

I tried to find something Evangelion related, but all I could find was the release of the script of end of Evangelion. It was the year Google was founded, though :V
Also the year Clinton got impeached, but I'm not brave enough for politics :V

Which indeed wouldn't have been made in the Chronicles-verse as we know it, releasing 7 April 2004 – 28 September 2005.
It's also 74 episodes long, and with my current writing pace it'd probably take me several years to complete so :V

Serious thought from this. Does this mean that, in some lesser form, Google exists or at least existed in the Chronicles world?

If they made it through the tech bubble collapse (which would've been underway as 2I happened; it would certainly exacerbated it), they're in all likelihood still a no frills search engine that gets the job done, like it was back when it was founded. Keeping with the general theme of tech stasis that Evangelion has.

That or they were bought out by Yahoo, since I have mentioned them as a search engine. Then again, that could just be Japan. I've certainly implied the scene of technology in America is a bit less dire compared to Japan :V

One thing to note, and you might already be aware based on what you've said, but several months (in June of 2000) before Second Impact Yahoo had announced Google as their site's default search engine provider. I can entirely see Yahoo, in the fallout of the bubble collapse and then reeling from Second Impact, buying Google up once the shock of everything had passed. Gotta do whatever you can to stay afloat in an world and industry in utter disarray, and having and owning a top notch search engine (for the time) rather than simply using them would be a good way to help stay stable and be every web user's preference in the new world.

She hasn't, but would do it if Shinji asked. She'd be a little puzzled, though. :)

Writer's block hitting on top of next to no time to even try writing lately. Going to try something to shake loose. A comedy bit or Backstage or something.

Hopefully inspiration comes to you soon. In regards to the Noble woman laugh, I think Asuka would do it when they triumph over Seele. Also to gloat at Tanaka.

Well not to contradict what Anno originally considered extant tech, or clue OP in to company resilience during major disasters, but from the Yahoo and Google collab days in 2000, neither were in contract talks with any agency that would position them to then receive government assistance post-Impact in rebuilding the earlyish Internet. Yahoo was the service platform, Google was the napkin math, AOL was more active, and Napster had just finished its first lawsuit.

The soonest that any of those companies would be expanding after Impact is probably best left to industry banality experts. Ballpark? 2013. After merging and liquidating several times.

Random thought about Half-Life 2, but as it's something I hope will come out close to the top in voting (for Kensuke's sake :p), it may be relevant.

One of the tracks in the game's soundtrack is called Dirac Shore (also in the first game as 'Dimensionless Depths'). It's a pretty eerie track. Unfortunately, it isn't called that in the game files (it's literally just HL1_song21.mp3), but if the cast were to find the name of this song and it's original name, it might help them infer something (possibly? I'm just spit-balling here), given some of the key themes and concepts of the Half-Life games.

Whew, posted Autumn 2004!? That person is probably in the bootleg anime episodes phase from circa mid 2000. Should be pretty good.

OP, reiterating something from another thread, are we anticipating any other private security players apart from Section 2 and the misguided aggressors from EoE? In other words, does Misato appoint a Section 3?

So I found an interesting fic where Misato and Ritsuko are married.

"Well that's certainly... interesting." Mused Misato, looking towards her friend and only her friend Ritsuko. "And I thought Shinji being a girl was different enough."

"Don't get any ideas, Misato." Decreed a rather protective Maya, brow furrowed and a small pout visible.

"I don't even swing that way, Maya. Not since university, at least."

The pout remained.

Ritsuko then said, "You promised that we'd never speak of that again"!

It's likely a Section 3 exists and is about something else (it's unlikely for organization like NERV have just two sections). Also, if something like this is created (unlikely, Gendo may object and I don't think Major Katsuragi can create her own force in an organization), it would have to be external. And that needs time, money, and trusted people - all those are in short supply.
Ritsuko then said, "You promised that we'd never speak of that again"!
"I didn't say anything about us, Rits. Just about that way. No one would know if not for your babbling mouth. Not that I am ashamed of that."

"Look, Major, I have invoked the sacred rite of Dibs. You make a move, you so much as wink an eye at my honey, and Maya Ibuki's gonna have to cut a bitch."

Misato gave a concerned look at the young woman, then to her blonde lover. "Er... right... Uh, Rits? That doesn't... worry you?"

"Ohhh, mama, that's hawt..." Ritsuko blinked and stopped rubbing her thighs together. "Sorry, what?"

I dunno, are you anticipating anyone? :)
You really think in the midst of all this, Misato thinks she'd even find people inside NERV she'd be willing to trust? On short notice?

Strategy always takes into account lead time, to avoid short notice where possible. The problem here of course is Kaworu just filled Misato in on SEELE's endgame, although it serves the dual benefit of sparing Kaji from finding out the same, getting killed, and Misato then connecting the dots a little too late.

Because NERV isn't under siege yet, this is precisely the time for their chaperone and base operations commandant to call in everything short of witchcraft.

Is it time for Kaji to inform (some of) his superiors about what's happening under Tokyo-3?
