Always my No.1 Rebuild theory, as a sub-theory of the whole idea of cycles/repeats. The idea of
Mari trying, maybe not even for the first time, to save some version of her parents
just appeals to me.

That reminds me of the quote: "Society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."

Just change "old men" to looping teenagers and you're almost there.

Mainly Wille crew in Paris doing some hacking (everyone get's a plugsuit now?), Mari fighting off (fake) Angels while they're busy, some crazy stuff happening (floating battle ships used as shield, Mari using the Eiffel Tower as spear), they manage to "un-impact" parts of Paris, getting their NERV base up and running, something about cannabalizing their EVAs for 02? No Asuka/Shinji/Rei.
Uh, getting an error that message is too short, so here's some more text...

I guess I was right...

About it being mainly about Mari, huh? Nutty stuff though what was being shown...

Still, highly intrigued by the final line she says in the preview. Are we getting there with implied connections between her and Shinji? :o

Huh, if Mari is the time traveling kid of Asuka and Shinji from the TV show, how does she feel when instead of her mom existing here, it's some Shikinami girl carrying a doll. Her first coherent thought is likely a long 'FUUUUUuuuuuuuu…'

Look, none is this is making her "You smell good; like LCL," line look any better.

To be fair, I really don't think there's ANY context that improves "You smell like blood. Nice."

Actually, if you consider a situation where
Mari grew up in a post-Impact world, where there would be a fuckton of LCL and the smell would basically be inescapable, she might associate it with home and thus with her parents, so the "You smell good; like LCL" line becomes "You smell like home",
which is a bit better.

Okay, finally after I don't know how long since I last looked at this thread I caught up with the story! I skipped the discussions (and by extension, Omakes) though, because I didn't have patience for that.

Anyway, good to see things are being revealed to everyone who needs to know.

Now, to my comments on the story itself: I'm quite interested in seeing how Misato will react to her biggest test yet, accepting Kaworu as an Angel, considering most if not all of her adult life was spent fighting for revenge against the Angels. When she learns it, she will have to choose between vengeance and the Children she has been protecting for about... two years in-universe now? And this can't be easy for her. I am excited to see how Stripgia will tackle that issue.

Also, I've thought of a joke Asuka can use to tease Rei when, y'know, they aren't in very real life-threatening danger: considering Rei is technically (the reincarnation of) the Mother of All Life in the planet, does that make Rei the MILFest of MILFs?

You should definitely go back and read a lot of the omakes, if you get a moment. A lot of them are really, really good. Unfortunately, though a lot of them are, not all are thread-marked and thus easy to find without a full read.

I'd ask you to explain this one to me, since I really, really don't get the joke here, but given the term MILF is involved, i'm worried the explanation won't be forum-safe.

I don't have the patience to read all the Omakes, so I will only read a few of them at a time and only when I feel like it, so it's unlikely.

As for the joke, it's nothing that adult, but as explaining jokes often ruins them, I'll just put it in a spoiler:
It's just that technically speaking, Rei is the first "mother" of the world, therefore being the mother of all mothers, and considering how close the Children have grown, the term "MILF" just felt (jokingly) fitting. I'm not advocating to have NSFW stuff here.

Really, the joke is the term itself. If you know the meaning of the acronym, the rest of the joke should parse out simple enough. Lilith is the mother of all mankind, which would qualify her to be a MILF herself, but as the mother of all mankind, she's also the mother of all MILFs. The MILFest MILF.

And wow, that is not a sentence I would've ever thought I'd say.

It's been a little over a year since the day Shinji arrived to fight Sachiel. Asuka showed up about 3-4 months later, and it's around 9 months since they got together.

Somewhere, Shinji suddenly got heart palpitations. "...just imagining things."

/Meanwhile/

"Congratulations. It's a girl," said Kaworu with a smile.

"...HOW?" demanded Asuka, looking at the tiny infant bundled up in her arms. Said infant had been dropped off by a stork.

A stork bearing a Lilithian mask of all things.

"Well, it has been nine months..." wistfully said Rei.

Asuka twitched. "That's not how ANY of this works."

"It does now."

"Why???"

"Because I said so," reiterated Rei, her eyes suddenly sparkling at the sight of the child in Asuka's arms. "The BABIES must flow."

xxxxx

...why does going back into a coma sound really good right about now? pondered Shinji.

/shippers will take any excuse

Amusing on it's own, but the mask actually got me thinking. After all the carp they've been through, would it be unthinkable that whatever kid everyone's favorite battle couple have might end up with, if not any physical birth differences, then some kind of AT hax powers? Nothing Angel/Nephilim level, obviously, but enough to make Shinji go "Huh." when it's dinnertime and "Aki" summons a mini orange hexagon between themselves and the fork full of mushed up carrots to signify their displeasure.

"...Rei? Have you been spoiling Aki again?"

"...No."

"Then why is she floating? Apparently under her own will?"

I think I remember Strypgia teasing something along the lines of "Are you going to shoot me, too?"

Seems to fit Misato's thirst for revenge

I imagine the scene from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood where Mustang is about to kill Envy in vengeance and has to be talked down by his companions so that he does not go over the edge. I think it is easy to imagine who's who in that case.

Now I have the vision of Misato maiming Shinji again and again for what he did in "2.22", with Asuka being the one that has to talk her down.

I mean, they have access to Longinus tech, and the lance even is already kind of a fork. Just have to shrink it down a bit. :p
