Ah, I've been there. Fun place! Pics? Sure!

Nice! I've actually never been there myself; had to rely on descriptions and videos for inspiration.

The other bit of inspiration was an arc of the anime Ghost Hunt... which was set in a Japanese mansion that was, itself, clearly inspired by the Winchester Mystery House. Recursive inspiration?

Ritsuko forced a smile to her face. "At least we're safe now? The only Pilot who hasn't tried out Unit-00 is Asuka, and at this point I think we'll just... leave that aside. The only test left for today is Hikari in Unit-02, and frankly I think we can just make that one as fast and basic as possible, then call it a day." Sh shivered and ran one hand through her hair. "I need a cigarette and a drink. I did not need that flashback to the last incident."
I kind of wonder how Unit-00 would react to Asuka, given how Rei herself feels about her (or how much Rei's feelings would have to do with it in this instance).

For that matter, I wonder what Rei I's feelings about Rei II are? I could see part of Rei I's anger being resentment of Rei II for living the life that was denied Rei I due to her untimely death. Arguably even worse now, that Rei II's life has gotten so much better, while Rei I is still trapped inside Unit-00.

I briefly wondered if Rei I was going to wind up absorbing Kaworu into the Eva once she learned of his relationship with Rei II, both to keep herself company ("Why can't I have something good for myself? It's not fair!") and out of a bit of spite at Rei II for the aforementioned reasons, with Rei II having to go in and re-integrate Rei I into herself in order to get Kaworu out...

SEELE and the JSSDF made their attack on New Year's Day, not Tabris. He showed up a few days before that, but not many. Maya mentions having to be on constant alert since that event, but it's been less than a week.

Yes, but humans are Lillim and descended from an Angel and given how thematically the angels continuously became more like humans during the later part of the series it isn't wrong to think of humanity as the final angel.

I honestly put Armisael at Christmas Eve or Day, have Kaworu show up on the Dec 30 and make his run on New Year's Eve, and SEELE makes their move the next day.

'Until death do you part...' said the crazy voice.

Shinji did his best to mentally glare at the broken spirit of Kyoko Soryu. 'No. Not even then. I'm hers until she makes me go. She's what makes my life worth living. If she wants me to go beyond death for her, I'll try.'
'Humanity or the whole world isn't half as much to me without him there to share it with. As long as I have my sweet baka with me, we're invincible.
oh crap

That arc of the manga was good, but I was somewhat annoyed by the main character referring to the Winchester House as a "hoax".

She reached her hand out on the floor between them, letting her fingers carefully interlace with his. Kaworu's Light flashed through an amazing display when they touched, as always.

He swallowed, and looked at her. "Rei?"

The countdown reached the final seconds. Rei looked him right in the eye. "Live," she ordered.

He blinked for a second, then smiled. "Yes."

They both leaned forward.

Midnight struck.

So, basically, Shinji's paying twice that evening. Right?

Also, I find it heartwarming how Asuka goes after everyone that hurts Shinji - that's finally an outlet for her aggression that's healthy not-so-unhealthy.

Too bad Yui is so self-opinionated that trying to rip her a new one didn't work.
For the first time, both voices were silent. A moment later they answered in unison. 'Good boy.'
Well, at least they're in agreement on something.

Shinji because he'd discovered his mother had been raised within an apocalyptic death-cult conspiracy, was questionably sane, and at least partly the architect of many of their miseries, Asuka because she'd learned that her mother's soul had never recovered from the trauma of being ripped in two from her Contact Experiment and now seemed obsessed with death.
Editing-wise, I propose either a semicolon in the comma's stead, or an 'and' in front of Asuka's name - makes it more pleasant to read.
I failed to realize just how much losing me would shatter him.
Not wrong, I know. Just feels weird to read 'shatter' in conjunction with 'how much'.
I don't want the love of my life to have to live his worrying history is going to remember the name 'Ikari' as 'that family that makes Hitler look like a small-time nobody!'
'to live his life', I presume?

These days yeah.
If you want some really weird spelling and grammar, look at Shakespearian-era english.
Shaxper's English was less weird on spelling than mine is, because the Great Vowel Shift was nowhere near complete at that point. (In his day, "heath" really did rhyme with the name of the Thane of Glamis.)

They do and they're quite ironclad, but when it comes to spelling and words in general, all bets are off (partly why so many languages just use the English word, we make them up so fast the other countries stopped trying to make corresponding terms).
I know I gave up making corresponding terms. Damn internet is almost making me unlearn my mother language!
