"I tell you about the fall of an ancient and advanced civilization, the root of all our woes here on this planet, and that is what you want to know?"

Kaworu's face was still slightly flushed, but his gaze was disconcertingly steady. "Because that's what's important to me to know, Ayanami. Ancient civilizations and tragedies I'll contemplate all night, I'm sure, but right now, what I can affect, and what I… really want to know is… what you'd say."
"Unless we have a time machine that nobody's bothered to tell me about, I'm not sure how this information really helps us.

"Although I guess it helps me because it gives you more reason to talk to me, which gives me more opportunity to listen to your heavenly voice."

"Merry Christmas to all..." Misato muttered. "Glad to have you back on the side of the angels, Rits."
:V

She hesitated. "Well, the good side, anyhow."
Does Rei count? Because, if so, then yes -- you're on the side of angels.

Not that Misato knows it yet.

Ritsuko gave her a twisted smile. "You said it." She raised her beer. "Cheers, and may we all still be here next year to do this again."
For some reason, when I saw @Ranma-sensei quote this, my first thought was "Next year, in Jerusalem."

Which would be a really odd cheer to give on Christmas.

These two lines are an effective summation of the A&T fandom.
So, basically, Strypgia may have written that scene by roleplaying Rei as himself and Kaworu as the all of us?

Also goddamnit Misato, don't fucking jinx us!!
"Fortunately, this won't be my problem much longer -- I'm only one day away from retirement!"

Satsuki... Was that the blonde one? If she is, I'd call that a nice trade off when compared to Misato, honestly. :p

"Thank you. We are not inherent enemies. We are not beholden to ancient programming or conspiracies or lies. We are friends who like each other because we choose to be," Kaworu smiled. "Like you told me: There is always choice. I am the Angel of Free Will. I choose… this," he said, gently squeezing her hand.

He released her hand, stood up, and then looked slightly awkward when he immediately offered her his hand again to help her up. "Shall we go make music with our friends?"

"Idiot."

She took his hand anyway, and rose.
I am very pleased that Kaworu has seemingly made a firm decision to flip the bird at The Call and embrace his humanity. And more importantly imo, Live.

Once it became too apparent that Misato was no longer a single woman for him to crush on, he'd been rather down. But an honest talk with him on the balcony during the party and mentioning that Ooi had long been interested in him had brightened his day considerably. He'd been a great help to Misato's growing little counter-NERV/SEELE cabal, digging into files they were restricted from and going well above and beyond the rules for her. It felt good not to let him be stuck thinking he'd been friendzoned out of some 'nice guys finish last' misunderstanding. Truth be told, if she had been a single woman, Misato would have considered him. He was smart and cute.
It's good to see that Lt. Hyuga was able to end the evening in bright spirits. Beyond the human interest, good morale is paramount in their counter-conspiracy.

"I'm getting just a little tired of that phrase," Misato grumbled. "I'm almost wishing the next Angel would come tomorrow, just to get this over with."
I have a feeling Misato may find cause to greatly regret that almost-wish of hers soon enough.

A lovely update Strypgia.

If it weren't so dangerous, I'd kind of want somebody to call her out for jinxing them when it happens.

If it's anything like an addiction or obsession or compulsion, he has to make that decision constantly.
He does. But Rei's telling him about the intentions and plans of the FAR will give him an insight to the nature of the Call, and possible ways to fight it.
Unlucky Ooi.

Lets hope shes more then just the rebound and appreciated for her, not being almost Misato
She's not quite a rebound, no. Hyuga has known for a while his crush was not going to go anywhere, since Misato and Kaji have been visibly back together for a couple months now. This was just the first good chance for Misato to quietly talk to him about it, and help him out by tipping him that his not-quite-Shinji-levels of oblivious-power had missed that Satsuki was actually flirting at him. They've only left for a 'cup of coffee' date right now, not run off to pound divots in Satsuki's futon.

....insert joke about 'But she's thinking it!' here.
I bet she'll be. Because overall positive and WAFFy fic aside and from what I've seen of her character, she's a net gain in most aspects when compared to Misato. And younger, to boot.
Somewhere, a woman with wine-dark hair has the sudden urge to cock her gun menacingly, and glare at the camera.

both our planet and our start were wrecked and dying

I think you meant "star". Normally I tend to gloss over typos when I'm involved in a story, but that one made me, well, "start". And it was at the "start" of the story. I'll stop now.

"Merry Christmas to all..." Misato muttered. "Glad to have you back on the side of the angels, Rits." She hesitated. "Well, the good side, anyhow."

Heh. That's ironic in all KINDS of ways.

So if anyone finds out Maya and are are together
That should be "Maya and I".
Not that I want to be any more.
Should be "anymore"
and given how close they are we accept it.
Needs a comma after "are".
Both 'y's should be capitalized. This is always the case for stutters. Much like if he/she started the sentence with a name. For example: "K-Kaworu...." It wouldn't make sense for it to be "K-kaworu", since you capitalize names.
"Commander" should not be capitalized, I think. It's not being used as a form of address.
