But nobody cares if bad things happen to him.
No, but I do care about things he makes happen...

It's cause f things like that that make me imagine you as Aku, from Samurai Jack, as you write.
Well, you just blew my mind.

Before or after she tries to empty her .45 into him? :V
Oh, dear...
Ricochets are notoriously unpredictable...

Conventional bullets have been shown to be useless against angels so far, so why should Kaworu be any different? Provided he has time to get his AT field up.
But hopefully Misato will be a bit more calmer than that. One thing I hate in fiction in general, is when a character immediately distrusts someone because they reveal something about themselves, in spite of all their actions thus far that they should at least be given the benefit of the doubt. Or that the character is such an outside context problem that they must be an enemy, even though it would make no sense to pull such an elaborate deception, and said character has no idea what is going on. Like any cross-dimensional crossover or time-travel story.

It was a joke playing on these kinds of stories; so, yeah.

Making a good double agent story is tricky. If they have said double agent killing a bunch of mooks or help the protagonist cause the organization he/she works for a costly amount of damage it's a bit hard to justify such a twist. Casino Royale is the right way to do a double agent story. Vesper Lynd simply had to get on James Bond's good side and make sure he stayed alive long enough to transfer the money.

Just think of the damage Kaworu could have done if, while he gets deployed in an EVA with the rest, he starts attacking the other EVAs and help one of his brothers reach Terminal Dogma. Of course this would mean betraying SEELE as well. But who would see it coming?

That last sentence is the key. If his AT Field is at full strength, then yes, Kaworu would be no different than any other Angel when it comes to conventional bullets. But the other Angels didn't want to be beaten, and that makes all the difference. Kaworu has never lost a fair fight in canon, because in the end, he has always let NERV win. He's already stated that he intends to do that again here, if it comes to that (though it won't, if Rei has anything to say about it).

I would normally agree with you. But to a certain extent, this is part of what makes the Kaworu/Misato dynamic interesting. Everyone in Eva has their own reasons for fighting the Angels. Some, like the bridge crew, are doing it to survive. Some, like Shinji and Hikari, are just following orders. Some, like Asuka and Gendo, are following other passions. But Misato, and seemingly Misato alone, is driven by hate. And that hate is not gone.

Even as I talk about it being possible for Misato to kill Kaworu if she seizes the opportunity, I find it very difficult to imagine Stryp writing her actually doing that. This does not strike me as that kind of fic. But reaching the point where Misato of all people is handed on a silver platter the opportunity to do exactly this, yet does not take it... well, that's the kind of thing you can write an interesting fic around. Besides, anyone who has seen Avatar: the Last Airbender knows that "I don't hate you" can be WAFF-y in its own right, when said by the right person at the right time.

Or Stryp could surprise us. The more things change, the more things stay the same, and there is another Dummy System...

I think there's a good chance Misato's newfound grudge against Gendo and SEELE is going to displace a lot of what might otherwise get directed at Kaworu; maybe all of it. Especially combined with Rei vouching for his preferring his own death to hurting anyone else.

Just reread the last chapter, and three things came to mind...

1) Do the Pilots' phones have cameras? I know 2I wound up stagnating consumer electronics development compared to our world, but apparently the first cameraphone was introduced in Japan in mid 2000, so it may be possible. And with Rei having to hide a relationship, but with text message logging disabled...

EDIT:
Rei: "Needless to say, fish, if these photos turn up anywhere else, I will feed you to the Sarlacc."
Kaworu: "I am reasonably certain the Sarlacc does not actually exist..."
Rei: "I am Lilith, mother of most life on this world. I will make one if I have to!"
Kaworu: <gulp>

2) Had the oddest notion of Rei using the banter from Wesley's duel with Inigo Montoya as code to Kaworu to fake a serious duel...

3) Ritsuko previously mentioned wanting to secretly reduce Rei's meds down to the bare minimum. I wonder what her reaction will be when she finds out Rei's been entirely clean for months, aside from that one regrettable incident when a concussion-addled doctor injected her straight into an overdose?

Rei: "You seemed alarmed for a moment, Doctor Akagi. Was there a problem?"
Ritsuko, blushing: "I'll admit I had a moment's panic, before I realized that if that ship was going to sail, it already would have, and you're really not that type after all."
Rei: "What do you mean?"
Ritsuko: "Well, considering the sort of being your soul is from, compared to us "puny mortals", there were concerns that if you were entirely unchecked, you would be, ah..."
Rei: "...something like 'ah-hahahahaha, after four billion years I'm free, time to conquer Earth?'"

I was thinking more "...Now let me alone, so that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them"

Nope, no camera on that clunky old thing, sorry. Rei's lucky it even has text messaging.

Though if there were......

Rei: "You better not tell anyone about these pictures, fish." ~hits send~
Kaworu: "..............arogcxpzl." ~thud~
WE'RE SORRY, THE USER YOU HAVE MESSAGED IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE DUE TO BRAIN FAILURE. PLEASE REBOOT AND TRY AGAIN.
Rei: "I have determined what I will wear at the next opportunity for a costume party."

Asuka: "Costume party? Hm... not a bad idea. I've got some ideas that will really melt Shinji's brain. What did you have in mind, Rei?"

Rei: "Death."

Ritsuko: ~sweats nervously~

Rei: ~tiny smile~

Kaworu: ~looks down~ "Oh damn it, there it goes again..."
