Anyways, what do you lot think "the old men" (ARCH HERETICS) are up to? Apart from furiously stroking their beards about how clever they are and attempting to fist-bump Tzeentch over how everything is going "just as planned."

Considering they reckoned Gendo would probably back stab them at some point, I wouldn't put it past them to have people roaming around Tokyo-3 keeping tabs and shit. I'm sure SEELE would be delighted to discover dissent within NERV, all the more easy to rip it apart then...

But seriously though, as a guy who rewatched the main show at least three times before even QUESTIONING "hey I wonder what the internet thinks of this show", seeing all this smiling Rei stuff is so freaking weird. To an almost OOC, suspension-of-disbelief-shattering degree. (ALMOST) I mean, Rei's cuteness and character appeal to my analysis always seemed to be more tied to the emotions peaking out slowly from behind the ice/scarring/whatever metaphor. Having her just randomly show up with big wide grins feels like... skipping somehow. like its missed the point of the character in the name of quick easy "TEH CUTENESS!!!1!!1!11!!!"
I keep seeing where Mister Anno is coming from.
BTW, that more applies to pictures (since by their nature they have no build-up), whereas fics like this HAVE the bigger smiles and expressiveness as the end result OF the emotions peaking out slowly and all that good shit.

Don't take any of that as trying to start shit or insulting people for enjoying pics of Rei smiling. Its just something that occurred to me that I felt like sharing, and maybe fishing if anyone else had thoughts on that.

On a shopping trip downtown, on a cold dry winter's day:

Asuka: "WhaMMMMFFF! MMmmMMmmmmmm...."

Later:
Misato: "Something different about you girls. It's... I know! Have you been swapping lip gloss? Hey, now, what's with all the blushing? You're going to set the building on fire!"
 
So I started reading this during my down time at work. Now it's kept me from doing said work lol. I haven't read a fanfic since I was like 14 but after finding this on TV Tropes I randomly gave it a chance and ended up really liking it. Now I'm actually wanting to check out other fanfics lol.

Anyways, I really like how this story has gone. Shinji and Asuka's relationship felt fast, but not forced, and you showed it in a way that was pretty believable which I never thought would have been possible without some serious OOC going on. They, and by this point several other characters, do act different from the show but their changes are totally believable so it doesn't even feel unnatural. Good job on that, I find that pretty impressive. I gotta say I love the like, realism of it all so nothing seems too far fetched and yet you still manage to fit in surprises. (Duo synced Unit 03, hell yeah!)

So yeah, damn good job Strypgia, looking forward to the next part.

Hmm, you know, that reminds me of Eureka 7, and the way that parallel worlds/alternate timelines are part of the overall setting. The Eureka Movie (or one of them anyway, if there is more) has "mini" avatars of Nirvash and TheEnd(?) that are companions of Renton and Eureka.

So now I imagine a post "Instrumentality(Angel) War"/3 Impact world where the Children (or avatars of them) get occaisionally "reincarnated" (or souls budded off the "main Soul" of the Children), and thus we get to play with all the adorable scenarios where the Children are together as, well, children.

Further, I imagine a world where elements of the Angelic/Evangelion "bio"-tech is used in constructs for various purposed. Including the MPEVAs in mini-format as "guard dogs" or the like. So we get the adorable scene where the nuChildren visit a facility where such creatures are bred/cloned...
 
Question. Did someone knock a wall down between Rei and Misato's apartments, because you have Shinji cooking in Rei's, but somehow they left Shinji's room and come straight into the area were everyone can see?

It would have been Shinji's room in Misato's apartment. It's Rei's apartment but the apartments have mirrored floor plans.

not pissed off. Your dissatisfaction with NGE'S typical frothing "its perfect in every way!!!!11!11!!" Fans is sensible and valid, and your other opinions simply reflect your personal preferences in fiction (worldbuilding > psychological analysis, to put perhaps overly simply but im on my phone and im already long winded enough) which is just fine, even if i disagree ^^. So im not pissed, you're just PREDICTABO!
