All the terrible Lighting FFXIII jokes and I only think of it now. It even had time travel!
Oh well.

Generally, I agree with the sentiment that Hijiri needs to bear responsibility for her actions. Unfortunately, the only possible punishment as of now is:
Gemming her;
Dragging her bodily into whatever prison thingy Pleiades for some reason have already erected or will have erected just for Hijiri;
Talking to her in our free time really, really hard.
Alright, the last one is pretty horrifying for some people "cough" Ono "cough".

I just don't see how our efforts on reforming her are going to work after we've spent a good part of an hour alternatively pleading, asking, morally blackmailing her into stopping that nonsense she's trying to do without conclusive effect. And that was before we'll have her gemmed and imprisoned.

Letting her go isn't much better, arguably, it isn't any better. However, it leaves Hijiri a ( small ) chance to stop being a teenager and listen to Aunt Sabrina. I don't have high hopes for that, I'm just even less sure that Pleiades can hold her in without something terrible happening.
For example, Hijiri convincing Kasumi that pants are for dummies. :lol

That's just me, though.
Okay, gotta go. I'll come see how it's turned out later.

Can Sabrina do antimagic? Because if so, Anti-Magic box to force her to revert. Then just keep her in it until Sabrina decides it's a good time to unpack her new limited edition Hijiri figure.

I wonder tackling Hijiri would work...

I kinda want to vote for that to see what happens

Sabrina: [Tackles Hijiri] .... I can't believe that worked.
Hijiri: LET GO OF ME YOU -
Sabrina: I'm sorry
Hijiri: For what?
Sabrina: ... in totality or just the last few minutes?

Even as a joke, the suggestion that we need to apologize to her here aggravates me.

Utility fog is still up btw, and she's still well within range of it if she hasn't already started moving. I'm also going to assume auto-cleansing is in effect for everyone in our sphere of influence, including our enemies.

[X]Immediately: Encase Hijiri in a solid block of Grief
-[X]Once she's trapped, rearrange it internally to conduct sound so you can talk to her
Her not using Saki's magic earlier suggests that she can't use multiple powersets simultaneously (as she had to switch from Kazumi's magic) and even in the event that she can, numbing our control of grief isn't going to make her not buried in the stuff.
[X]Mami: Collapse the web onto Airi
-[X]Keep her pinned; we'll take care of her in a minute
-[X]If she breaks free, dissolve the network
--[X]Legs are a privilege, not a right
[X] Recap, in a very short summary, what Hijiri has done today for her. She committed burglary and assault, said some chuuni shit about nobody being able to help with her unique problems that nobody can understand, and then tried to run away afterwards like she hadn't done anything.
-[X] Does she not understand the depth of the hole she is digging for herself? Most groups would have killed her for what she did in the first place, and she is very lucky that that is neither the Pleiades nor Mitakihara. You are trying to construct a situation where you don't have to help kick her out of her hometown, which would result in people dying elsewhere because territory. But you are not about to set a precedent of people walking over you because they're troubled middleschoolers.

[X] Fully encase her in Grief, pulling from all of the Grief that's immediately available closest to her. Yank her Soul Gem--though don't take it out of range. She'll only lose the connection if she teleports out herself.

There. This should be the happy middle ground. Fully encasing her in Grief might stop her, if this isn't outright teleportation. Taking her gem (but not moving it out of her range) won't render her unconscious or anything unless she tries to teleport out anyway--and if she knows what soul gems are, then she probably won't try to escape once we have hers.

And if Hijiri escapes here, it's possible that her power will let her meet up with Airi and allow both of them to escape. And they'll escalate from there. I don't think we ever took the Clear Seed back from Hijiri, either. Which means the two of them will have all the time and resources they need to be an ever-present threat to the Pleiades, and our entire mission here will have been a total failure.

[x] Always Happening

As much as I would love to be able to stop Hijiri with social, I just don't know it's possible right now. We just don't have the time to get through to her, and I while I'm all for trying to get to her with our (probable) wishborn status, I think even that probably wouldn't actually get her to immediately cooperate. Also, none of the other votes have really gotten into how we're handling Anri.

I don't know if I'll have time for voting today and tomorrow, and I don't want to leave the secondary bandwagon as [ ] Gem, since it's a concern.

[X] Catch Hijiri with Grief.
-[X] If she tries to free herself, get help from Mami. Insist.
-[X] Time out for Hijiri. Tell her you're gonna talk once she feels ready to talk.

[X] Just Gem Anri as soon as she's in range.
-[X] If Mami can distract Anri before you take your chance, all the better.

[X] Regroup with everyone else.

I really don't believe we can talk with Hijiri right now.

Previous vote, for ease of reading:
[X] Gem Hijiri.
[X] Simultaneously:
-[X] Ask the Pleiades to pick up Hijiri. Explain she tried to escape.
-[X] Ask Mami to guard Hijiri until she's picked up.
-[X] Go face Anri alone.
-[X] Ask Oriko if she could talk Anri down, and what does she need in that case.
[X] Grief armor underlayer., and protect your Gem.
[X] If Oriko answered...
-[X] No: Gem Anri with extreme prejudice.
-[X] Yes: Try to comply if Oriko had any instructions, and buy time for her to arrive.
--[X] Potential actions (Anri):
---[X] Re-introduce yourself. Apologize for earlier.
---[X] Ask about her. Who is she; what does she want; why does she believe Kyuubey.
--[X] Ask Mami to provide sniper support, outside hearing range, just in case.

You nearly slump over as the sensation dies away, but immediately start subtly entrapping Anri.
Then again... Anri seems to be slowing down?
[ ] Why does Sabrina look so willing to just let her go?!

No idea if theres any relevancy to be fished out of MumiQuest, but why not share? ;-; Do you see how even BestSempai thinks Hijiri needs a timeout and some lost privileges? Also hopeful with the possible preparation....

and paranoia about why Anri was slowing! Knows Hijiri is planning to escape and join her, doesn't need a rescue, and has a planned meeting point so Anri needs to stop?!!?

So... just to throw this out there, what if, from now on, whenever we confront someone hostile, if they don't respond well enough to talking at the start, we concentrate on disabling them as humanely as possible, and leave the amateur therapy for... later?

We have this thing where we'd like to solve everything by talking, but that only works on some people, doesn't it? At the very least, I think we've got enough bad experiences trying battlefield therapy to change our overall approach?

Furthermore, what if we try to make Oriko tag along on future 'missions'? We could, if possible, before engaging a (group of) meguca, consult with Oriko about aggressive Social, and when it is appropriate to employ it. Though I could see us following her lead in such occassions, more than having her help us.

"If someone says it is useless to hope, I'll tell they are wrong every time." Or something.
I think it was more of a pragmatic approach to the problem of housing Megucas we've pissed off and beaten up. Not everyone has convenient friends who can take care of them while they lie around having a nervous breakdown ( at least ) partially caused by us. Come to think of it, not everyone has a convenient nervous breakdown instead of, you know, fighting us to the death.

Don't get me wrong: I'm all in for "Shoot first, ask questions when you have the time" approach. Just... it has its own problems and will not be an ideal solution. This is meant to be frustrating. We are dealing with teenagers. I've been a teenager myself not too long ago. And girls in this universe are more emotive or something, which makes farming them for Grief more effective, but also a bitch to talk to most of them.

And Oriko... We have to convince Homumom first... somehow.

Re: Wish
At the very least, a random person doesn't have the life histories of several large groups just casually appear. Even if our "body" wasn't wishborn, our knowledge definitely is.

Yeah, we've probably been over-lenient with Hijiri especially, and shock-and-awe tactics are generally pretty good at cutting through this sort of melodramatic teenage horseshit. Perhaps it would be enlightening to her to explain what happened the last time a couple magical girls attacked our friends. There were no pleasant conversations involved; we just teleported on top of them, shattered one's knee with a hammer, and sawed the other nearly in half with a machine gun. We're friends now. Ironically, they still put up more of a fight, despite being just as green and having to eat a surprise round.

...Okay, maybe that's not disabling them humanely, but still. And yeah, given that anything we have to say is necessarily by committee, Mami and Oriko are probably generally better socialgucas than we are, and Kazumi will be against pretty much everyone except present company.

Talking with Airi to any great degree should come after we dunk on her, and I don't want to see us coddle the Soujus like we coddled Hijiri.
that or i really just shouldn't post immediately after waking up

If she gets away because you guys were too fucking afraid to yank her gem, the entire ensuing mess is on you.

Oh yeah, and @Always Happening: as a reminder, Airi is rapidly closing in on us. We might want to deal with her (as in, yank her soul gem as soon as she comes into range) before going off on a lecture at Hijiri.
