I wouldn't say we have complete confiration thst Hijiri is behind everything, given how incoherent Anri is right now, but it doesn't really change how we proceed, so I'll leave it

Kanna Hijiri is a... mentally unstable girl," Oriko says. "I... I think she was created by a Wish? She is violent and resentful, and ruthlessly against the Pleiades Saints. She's able to flawlessly connect and synthesize other magical girl's abilities, and manipulates Airi into doing her bidding."

We pretty much do, actually.

Dude. We're not witchbombing Mami. Or anyone.

Witchbombing Mami would kill her. Literally.

If not instantly, in a matter of days. She's caused many, many girls to Contract. To learn those girls turned into monsters of despair would be too much for her.

Even if we set the Witchbombing risks aside for the moment (and I think they're serious enough that messing around is still an awful idea), trying to make a deal with Airi with Yuuri's seed still has a huge chance of provoking her.

It's making a deal with a dangerously unstable individual that we have no guarantee of being able to follow through on, given that we don't actually have dewitching yet.

I think you're making some leaps of logic.

I expect the Seed to be at Incubator world, so this would be just confirming the Seed is out of reach.

If it is in reach, however, I want (us or Kazumi) to hang onto it in case it becomes useful as a bargaining chip in the future; after Airi's been disabused of her crazy, most likely.

[X] Be nice, tactful, and supportive. Brinapilot best order:

[X] Refuse Kazumi's offer. You can't leave your friends in trouble. You want to try and help Hijiri and Airi, too.

[X] Kazumi, privately: Try to find whether Arzt Kochen's Seed is still around without raising alarm bells.

[X] Hijiri, privately, after she's done with Niko: Make the case that Airi needs help; encourage Hijiri to be honest, for her own good; tactfully bring up Airi's allegations if possible.

[X] Try to talk about conditions for Hijiri's future release, as an olive branch towards Hijiri, but mind both Kannas' state of mind.

[X] Propose ideas for finding Airi quicker; encourage others.
-[X] E.g.: Sensing Booster + Ribbon Range extension; Sayaka/Kazumi clones; everyone can spam magic; Magic booster could help.
-[X] Could Hijiri help?

[X] Share all relevant details with Mami and Kazumi. Inform Homura, too.

@Redshirt Army: Oriko had already stated she can see multiple possible futures, so automatically assuming her visions are 100% accurate would mean she never should of went after Madoka to begin with. Regarding Anri, beating her up or gemming her are pure last resorts that'll make defusing her harder if not impossible. So while Sabrina doesn't have dewitching yet that's no reason to treat Anri as unworthy of saving. What matters most is that Sabrina makes it clear Anri needs her and the Pleiades, if there's to be any hope for the Witches.

And how do we do this without killing Mami?

@Kkutlord

We've had issues with vote bloat in the past, in which votes grew to enormous proportions, which caused problems for the thread; now we've got a policy of limited wording on votes (150 words right now), which has helped improve the thread.

Your vote is at 300+ words; I'm not Firn, so I can't call it invalid, but it'd be nice if you could respect this helpful guideline.

@Onmur: Ah, I wasn't sure if that was going to be a problem as I was assuming the Hijiri & Anri stuff wouldn't count. Let me just try again now...

[X] Refuse Kazumi's offer, you can't leave them in trouble and you want to help Hijiri & Anri too.
-[X] Kazumi, privately: Try to confirm Anzt Kochen's whereabouts and explain how it could help Anri.

[X] Monitor Hijiri with grief fog and tactfully explain Anri & how she'll lose herself to grief, encourage Hijiri to share anything left, and ask what Hijiri taught her.

[X] Try to talk about Hijiri's future release whilst minding both Kannas.

[X] Propose ideas for finding Anri quicker, be encouraging.
-[X] Sensing Booster + Ribbon Extension, Sayaka/Kazumi clones, everyone doesn't need worry about gem corruption, offer another Clear Seed, Magic Booster could help.
-[X] Hijiri could prove herself by helping.

[X] Share all relevant details with Mami, Kazumi, Homura, and Oriko. You'll try saving Anri, but convincing her will be hard.

Thinking on it, I'm not sure that Kazumi would even be able to recognize Yuuri's Grief Seed, assuming they even have it. and given Airi's current mindset, trying to use it as leverage could be seen as a hostage situation or pressing her friend for advantage. I'd rather not risk provoking her.

@AuraTwilight: The whole point is to figure out what's the deal with Yuuri's Grief Seed. If Kazumi legitimately can't place what happened, then Sabrina either needs to operate as if Yuuri is gone or go scan every Grief Seed for her Witch name... Which would be both rather bizarre and hard to explain to everyone in-universe. We're nowhere close to confronting Anri yet, so merely knowing what happened to Yuuri does not translate into a guaranteed action. Even if Yuuri is available, we shouldn't even be using her as leverage- Simply hand her over with no strings attached.

@Redshirt Army: Mami's not ready for the Witchbomb, so she wouldn't be involved with dewitching. The Pleiades in the manga were dealing with both Kazumi being gone and high corruption, so they clearly weren't at their best state there. Regardless, as Mami wouldn't be necessary to the experiments, I don't see why she would be a problem in that scenario. If you're meaning the full team confronting Anri and trying that? Anri would be on full offense with 12 different Magical Girls present.

Good morning, guys, what did I mi-

... Okay.
How about a compromise?
Let's try not doing, promising, suggesting anything with the Yuuri's Witch Seed. At all. For the moment, let's just try confirming ( if we can ) that Anzt Kochen is
-Within our reach, or;
-Completely out of it.
We can start arguing about other things after we confirm that we have something to argue about.

About why we should ask Kazumi:
In Kazumi Magica, Michuru Kazusa was Witchbombed, but didn't share it with other girls, because she didn't want them t know. So if she knows now, she is our most reliable and discreet source of information on the matter. That is, if she remembers where Anzt Kochen's Seed is.
If she doesn't know, then the possibility of her finding out about Witchbomb from our reasoning: the Witch killed Anri's friend, the same story we told her before, is rather low. Ask Luke Skywalker.
And. Even if she finds out, she is the least likely candidate to psych out and despair about it, because again, Kazumi Magica. She faked cheerfulness right until Witching out, I don't know how, it's not supposed to work that way, that's scary amount of poker face in one person, but whatever. Asunaro. And she, again most likely, won't tell about it to her friends.
So?

You're not wrong

I'm just not seeing a reason to do it outsidea of "because we can"

There really isn't any point at which having Yuuri's Grief Seed gives us any sort of advantage

I cannot see Anri reacting to it any other way but badly at any point

She's predisposed to think the worst of the Saints, and is convinced that we're with them

This will not change

I think, that before I butted in, it was suggested to ask Kazumi about YWS in order to prod her about whether she is in the know.
So, aside from Airi's redeemability, ( I know it's not a word, so sue me ) or lack of such, here is another reason why we might want to know.

Do we really need that information?

WI'll it change how we handle this crisis going forward?

I don't think it will

I don't know.
She might oppose us on principle when we'll try telling everyone in the future, if she knows about Majos.
She might be less understanding of the problems being a meguca entails, if she doesn't.
I guess it matters, but not too much?

The thing is like...it's going to be very difficult to verify that information, it's GOING to raise red flags that we're asking about it, and even if we offer it to Airi no strings attached, she is not rational. The fact that we're handing it over to curry her favor has a strong likelihood of her seeing it as us exploiting her friend as a bargaining chip.

And, again, Airi is a walking Witchbomb. What if she shouts "Give me back my friend" in a panic as soon as we pull it out?

There's SO MANY ways this can go super horribly wrong and there's little to no benefit in comparison. It's not something we should worry about until we have Airi in captivity and have a chance to calm her down.

As for figuring out if Kazumi's witchbombed....the best case scenario is she is, but the worst case scenario is that we accidentally have her piece things together while she's in the midst of an extremely serious, time-sensitive, volatile situation. That's how you get Tetris, because Kazumi has the same issues regarding having contracted a bunch of friends as Mami does.

I think it's worth noting that, given how loose lipped she's been already, Anri is pretty likely to blurt it out anyways.

Hell, there's pretty good odds Hijiri knows. Especially if she's the mentor figure of the pair. I can very easily see Anri as she is now blurting it out to her shortly after the two meet.

Can we ask Oriko if she remembers any signs of whether or not Kazumi knows or something? Or ask Nadia if Kazumi talked to her about anything like this when they last met maybe? Because for all the talk of not doing dangerous things we're here, in this city, with little proactive in the way of plans, and no backup in the event that something happens or gets said by someone.

Trying to work around the witchbomb turns our plans positively Gordian in complexity.

Sooner or later someones going to swing that sword.

Why are we like this?

A poor upbringing?
Parental neglect?
... Brain damage?:p

Because understanding yourself and others is a monumental philosophical problem that invites enormous difficulties in any discussion with more than one participants? Nevermind that a fourth-to-third of people on the forum speak English only as a second ( or third ) language?

Wait, was that a rhetorical question? I can never tell.

You know, an IC interpretation could be that prolonged exposure to Asunaro slowly drives Sabrina insane.
