Uh... I guess it's beneficial to the "keep Jaffur around as meatshield to throw at tough enemies" mindset if he keeps doubling down on "the only thing that matters is fighting," because winning fights remains his only real source of positive feedback?

Honestly, I just want to build up to it rather than springing all this positive human contact at once. Jaron is a better-adjusted, more sociable version of Jaffur, and he found dealing with non-hostile social cues incredibly stressful. Just... I get why you want his first real human contact to be nice and supportive, but for exactly those reasons I don't want to overwhelm him.

Sticky Notes is a windows app that allows you to have virtual post-it notes.
I'm pretty sure it's one of the default apps, so should already be installed. It's useful!
(Honestly, I prefer the OS X counterpart, Stickies, because they're always-on-top, but Sticky Notes does the job.)

Or it could be that he is the Vegetan Scion, which means he was force fed a thesaurus just to understand all the protocols involved in interacting in his clan and we don't want to be seen as another crazy Gokun by suddenly springing a hug on the Prince of all saiyans.

Personally, it reminds me of the time we congratulated him on becoming super saiyan and he was weirded out. Which sounds hilarious and it is why I am voting for it.

@PoptartProdigy would oddball apply here? Do we get a moderate bonus to catch warlord-chibi off guard with a surprise hug?

Technically, yes, but catching the, "warlord-chibi," off guard with a surprise hug is a lethally poor idea and Kakara is smart enough not to try it even if a vote to that effect were to win.

Okay, it seems like I caused a misunderstanding somewhere.

I'm sparring with him anyway, regardless of plans. I'm just thinking of the plan that hopefully let's us win, but more importantly, let's us lose gracefully.

As such, I don't want to use a form against Jaffur that we haven't tested in combat and that debuffs at his area of strength.

I finally got free to go on the computer, thinking about that, and was wondering why no one was bringing that up! :p

"No Hug" voters, I would like to recommend that you add "Initiate Vegetan Social Protocol Seven" to your vote. Unless comforting Jaffur is unimportant, we really should at least make a gesture in its direction. I can live with "Hug" losing as long as we don't try to treat Jaffur like some kind of machine for expository talking and beating people up.

I still want Hug to be one of the winners, as long as Spar doesn't lose. But you don't have to agree with me to think that "Initiate Vegetan Social Protocol Seven" is a good idea.

We're dealing with a child who's been locked in near-solitary confinement with no control over his own physical body for four years. And who had years of beatings and torments inflicted on him, both capriciously and in order to compel him to train up his powers.*

I consider going out of our way to offer emotional support and affirmation of Jaffur's personal value as a human being near-human alienoid being to be extremely important here.

*(I'm reminded of the abuse survivor in today's training who became a two-time Olympic gold medalist because she was just that desperate to affirm her value as a human being. She felt worthless, and could only dispel that feeling at all when she was literally the best around, so she trained like an absolute maniac at the one thing she felt competent at, until she could at least be on top of the world in that one narrow sense.

@Gore17 , the main reason I'm voting for the "Chat (current unsealing plan)" option is because in addition to "reaffirm their value as a person," another high priority when dealing with abused children is "assure them that help is coming for them and they haven't been forgotten about."

Guys maybe hugs are actually bad right now?

hear me out, Jaffur has been utterly abused physically by his father and emotionally by his mother while intellectually he might trust us, emotionally any invasion of his space is likely to cause him a shitload of stress.
