*checks* Huh...got that mixed up. That said, the last words are "This is my prayer, my wish..." so it might just be the ending Homura desires, rather than one that could actually happen.

That said, maybe it is possible...although, I'm not sure if Madoka would consider it the best possible ending.

She does 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and runs 8 miles every day, and this is how you treat her?

But on a more serious note, I do think we should set aside some time at our next sparring session and have Homura or Sabrina check over Madoka's fitness and maybe teach her some self-defense; Not because it'll be useful against Meguca or Witches, because respectively it probably won't and it DEFINITELY won't, but because it'll make her feel more like she's a part of the Justice League, even if she's Aquaman. Not to mention the other benefits of fitness on mental health and such - and who knows, maybe Madoka will turn out to be some sort of boxing prodigy. Certainly, if she's able to overpower Homura (without magic, of course) in a spar, which isn't entirely in the realm of imagination, it'd probably make her feel like a total badass.

It could also be good for Homura to both have interaction with Madoka and be doing something she's got skill in - and it would mean Madoka is at least safe from mundane threats like muggers or kidnappers.

Damn, I'm iffy on bringing up meguca disappearances in front of Mami. It's going to raise a bunch of questions we don't have good answers for. If Kazusa is alive and Umika's book isn't out, I feel like that's a good indicator that shit has not hit the fan.

When we are talking about Hijiri why are we specifying that we talk about her powers, why not just state we talk about her in general so we can cover her motivations, power's, counters, and potential ways to prevent her or stop her from going/being so crazy. It also seems that a more general info dump might give Firnagzen more to work with for the update.

Meguca are the Servants more than they are Masters. Their special ability is dependant on their potential - kinda like a noble phantasm depends on a Servant's legend.

In this analogy, I haven't figured out who the Masters would be.

One thing to consider there is we're using our future knowledge next to a precog, a power that is just as new to Kyuubey as we are.

Sure it might make sense to fit future knowledge and timeline questions in with our metaknowledge, but if Kyuubey knows enough to make that connection, he knows already. We'll probably be asking this stuff either way, and as long as Kyuubey directly overhears, asking in Oriko's house means Occam's razor points to her instead of to us. Even without her powers, she could be looking up things she previously saw when she had them.

Even so, yeah, it's easier to ensure that conclusion is drawn if we ask while inside the privacy field.

I'm not sure how much of it is that people disagree with needing to change the vote, and how much it's just people not wanting to modify votes after a bandwagon has settled for so long... or people straight up not following thread discussion until next update.

It feels easy for me to want the bandwagon to go with no more changes, and check up the things you're talking about after next update, but I know I might feel different if it was me trying to oppose a bandwagon.

Good point. Even so I think the Saints themselves causing messes is worth looking into: If Mami's grand-students are disrespecting her legacy then we're going to need to browbeat talk some sense in them. Even so, there's a better way to do it: With the generalized tactics vote saving space, we can ask Oriko if she's seen the Saints themselves are causing problems.

Also: The Sky of Seven Stars being Umika's first book may be the canon, but we could account for timeline wonkiness via a more generalized search and Umika being a published author is relevant anyways. She gets a better editor in canon, so it's possible she managed to actually publish a book under her old editor before the deal went very sour. Or for that matter she was working on another book and completed it before moving on to The Sky of Seven Stars. (or that book could even just have a different name)

So as a result of all those possibilities, I've generalized the search just a bit.

Even so I think the Saints themselves causing messes is worth looking into: If Mami's grand-students are disrespecting her legacy then we're going to need to browbeat talk some sense in them. Even so, there's a better way to do it: With the generalized tactics vote saving space, we can ask Oriko if she's seen the Saints themselves are causing problems.

Also: The Sky of Seven Stars being Umika's first book may be the canon, but we could account for timeline wonkiness via a more generalized search and Umika being a published author is relevant anyways. She gets a better editor in canon, so it's possible she managed to actually publish a book under her old editor before the deal went very sour. Or for that matter she was working on another book and completed it before moving on to The Sky of Seven Stars. (or that book could even just have a different name)

So as a result of all those possibilities, I've generalized the search just a bit.

I like this edit, I still think we should also focus a little on analyzing Hijiri's motives more rather than just her powers.
But in terms of her powers this description means we may talk more about the Evil Nuts (aka Asunario Almonds ;)) which are perhaps one of the most dangerous tools created by her powers considering.
  • They can turn normal women into pseudo witches
  • Potential instantly turn a magical girl in to a Witch , although we would probably not want to say it that way around Mami, Maybe we can just say they 'effectivly fill soul gems instantly. (I'm not sure the seeds work by instantly filling a soul gem or just bypasses the grief requirements though)
  • May have Strange temporary effects on witches (considering what happened to Kazumi)
In some ways Hijiri is the closest thing to fighting another grief manipulating magical girl we are likely to see.

Yeah, I was debating whether to bring back the privacy device before or after looking for info on Umika.

The other reason not to bother looking for news of disappearances is that disappearances are the norm: meguca witch out or die fighting a witch and are never seen again.

If it's as early in the timeline as it seems to be, then there's a decent chance that Hijiri hasn't contracted yet. Maybe we can find her and talk her down before it becomes a problem?

I don't agree that it isn't so bad. Madowishes result in apocalypses 99% of the time, and should be avoided at all costs. Lots of people manage to find purpose in life without selling their soul. Madoka doesn't need a contract to have self-worth.

While we should definitely try to make it so Madoka does not need to wish. Things still could work if Madoka makes the right wish and we can succeed in making things safer for magical girls. However without the knowledge we have her wish is unlikely to address all the major pitfalls that could cause disaster. We really need to find a way to get Homu to let us take up steps to give Madoka the information she needs to potentially make a good wish as a contingency plan without making it sound like we are giving up on preventing her from making a wish. One important thing other than general info about the magical girl system we should mention to Madoka if we ever do talk to her about what type of wish could make that might not turn out apocalyptic, is that she needs to make sure she does not sacrifice her own well being because she has people who care about her. (Some who might literaly tear appart the universe to make sure she can live her life)

On more speculative talk: Does anyone wonder if perhaps Mitakihara in general has more potential in this timeline?

There's Sayaka of course, and her pretty potent wish may not just be a result of wishing well.

Then there's also Mami: She's widely respected, but we also see her making connections she hasn't before: In Asunaro a short meeting because a full studentship. If her wish is more potent in PMAS, it could explain this effect via tying her life to the lives of other girls more strongly.

Oriko might not seem notably stronger, but it's worth considering that she saw and contacted Kirika before she wished in this timeline, which is new.

Kirika herself has new powers, new and potent powers. Anti-magic is hardly unprecendented, but her fine control with it makes it very potent.

Even Masami and Hiroko are a notably powerful telekinetic and a pretty skilled Illusionist from everything we've seen. (Can make a corpse look alive and healthy, whatever she does to truancy officers). The first being directly connected to Mami and the second of whom might not exist if not for the other.

Guys, I'm wondering if something is weighing down potential in Mitakihara. I think it's something we might want to ask Homura: Do meguca in the city in seem stronger in general this time around?

But in terms of her powers this description means we may talk more about the Evil Nuts (aka Asunario Almonds ;)) which are perhaps one of the most dangerous tools created by her powers considering.
  • They can turn normal women into pseudo witches
  • Potential instantly turn a magical girl in to a Witch , although we would probably not want to say it that way around Mami, Maybe we can just say they 'effectivly fill soul gems instantly. (I'm not sure the seeds work by instantly filling a soul gem or just bypasses the grief requirements though)
  • May have Strange temporary effects on witches (considering what happened to Kazumi)
In some ways Hijiri is the closest thing to fighting another grief manipulating magical girl we are likely to see.

Thanks for adding the part about motives in, Also if we do decide we want to try find out if the Saints have caused any touble while Mami is around, perhaps we can just ask Oriko if she knows if the Saint and other magical girls have had any conflicts. That way we are not implying that we think the Saints started the trouble.

Two reasons why I don't think it gains us anything to ask about the Saints doing Bad Things:

-We'll probably already know the answer. If every indication is that Kazusa has not witched out, then there would be no reason for the Saints to have done those things.

-Oriko probably can't answer it. Oriko's lost her precog, and already told us what she'd seen previously about Asunaro. She has no access to new information on the subject.
