By which I mean yea, it's technically both since it's the night OF April 30th and it goes past the Witching Hour, but by calender-keeping system Walpurgisnacht was originally named for it's a pagan equinox date that doesn't consider May to have come until sunrise, and also Walpurgis the witch attacks the morning of May 1st, specifically 8:17:34 AM in Japan but in german time it still falls under Walpurgis Night.

We already did a poll. Several polls, in fact. We chose to have a surname rather than to not have a surname, and we chose a name (even if it's not one I'm thrilled with), as well as some runners-up for alternate identities. The people already made a decision on this matter, months ago.

Look, common sense says that if you're not a pop star and you hand someone a driver's license with only one name on it, it will raise some eyebrows. Yeah, Yuuki says that it "should be possible" to not have a surname (emphasis hers), but she's also looking at us askance when she says it, so it's presumably not normal or recommended. Why create extra problems for ourselves when three extra letters on a piece of paper can avoid it? The only reason to have this ID made in the first place was to avoid drawing attention and be able to function in society, right? Narratively speaking, we could have gotten by without it, just living with Mami and officially not existing, but we wanted to have one. We wanted to be able to do more for people than just what we could accomplish from the shadows.

We chose to have a surname over not having one on the basis, implicit or no, that not having one would be disadvantageous. If we'd chosen to have a surname without that basis we would've started calling ourselves Sabrina Vee then and there; instead we delayed until we were going to "need it."

Sabrina didn't even want to ask "are you sure" because it might reignite the argument. This would be worse.

I'd prefer to try to smooth over internal divisions that will arise from their boss essentially turning down a billion dollars. Explain that we're planning a more general rollout soon, and they can get it then so there won't be a target on their backs. Make sure they understand that this wasn't a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that they missed out on.

This would be good to tell the girl we just gave a seed to, though. I like it as general policy.

BTW, we so totally need to figure out how to make our powers work outside our range now, JUST so we can gift Kimiko one of our Grief marbles. JUST for that purpose and for nothing else. :V

Makes me feel that Firn is just going to recognize that and be okay with it. The fact is that this is a work of fiction. Sabrina having a last name doesn't change anything, not if it's something that isn't, like, "I love Mami Tomoe" or some other such meaningful thing. As a result, there's no reason that we have to have a surname, and if Yuuki is saying that she can do official documents without one, I really think this is Firn nudging us saying "You don't need a last name if you don't want it." Because really, if he's willing to not penalize us for not having a last name -- then why are we saying we need one, again?

This, yes - the surname isn't important. I don't mind putting it in if people feel strongly about it, but it isn't important.

I'm pretty sure it's considered fairly important by the thread. Considering we've had, IIRC, 5 flamewars about it. Vee is what we eventually decided on, but it was pretty hotly contested for a long while.

Right, no. Please read what I've said on the matter. I strongly believe that there are a number of people who went along with that solely because it was felt that having a surname was going to be necessary and materially beneficial. Certainly I did. I strongly suggest that somebody take a poll of Vee versus No Surname, with notation that not having a surname doesn't affect anything versus having one, before people start claiming that Vee is what we decided on. Because to my understanding, again, we decided on Vee over <No surname, have problems with getting ID>, we did not decide on Vee over No Surname, because in that sense, No Surname wasn't on the table to be voted for. If it had been, I would have voted for it, as I will do now.

@Onmur, In regards to Yuuki and her tracing Kuroki's phone, maybe you could phrase like Sabrina is just checking to see if she got the message from Yuuna?

Kyouko will absolutely notice what we did, even if Sayaka doesn't tell her we told her to do that.

However, Kyouko will also be absolutely uncapable of refusing. Because Kyouko.

... We should send some of Mami's baked goodies along with whatever other food Sayaka brings Kyouko.
