On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Time to set an example on how to treat elgi I guess. Here's to attempt one of stopping the war of vengeance.

*blink* if they did that they could place armor runes on it like MGromril. Who needs ships of Metal when you can smack a MGromril on a wooden one? It would obviously have to be an Engineering version of the rune but still.
Yeah, it would be hilarious. Engineering runes of MGromril, Speed, and Impact would make for an incredibly fast, tough, and brutal rammer.

[X][Purification]: Weapon

I will leave it to everyone else to decide what kind of elf they wish to have attracted the attention of.

I mean, the sheer ability to place armor Runes on a ship at base is huge as previously only Gromril could handle armor Runes so the Dwarves in canon had no real way to improve the durability of their ships with Runes as there was no way they'd make a whole ship made of Gromril.

This is literally revolutionary and makes the power of a future dwarf navy far higher with nigh-indestructible ships.

Snorri getting a superior grounding in fire lore is def appealing on a personal level, or at least we might get to see Blizzardwing and he flex on the Dragonrider. Should prove to be a spicy scene either way.

Also I've low key wanted the weapon variant since we've first unlocked the Rune. Too much stuff to spiral it off of, given M!Purifications closeness to the spell eating runes, and Daemon Slaying is also in that same grouping iirc.

Could prove very useful for when we get the Valiants axes going.

I definitely wouldn't be sad if weapons won but I think this is the option I would like to explore.

HA! I called it!

It was, if she had to admit, very disorienting to equate the enthusiastic lass with the screeching terror wreathed in amber light who had cleanly torn a troll in two with a single swipe of her claws at first, but she'd grown used to it.

No different a Dawi at war compared to when they were in a tavern really.

Loving the Hearthwardens' reactions to their new feathered comrades. Pleased befuddlement.

OH, and one you've particularly come to enjoy, the false tile puzzle. Creating an intricate puzzle that shows a path through a maze of trap triggering tiles, when it actuality, taking that path simply activates every trap in the entire room when they reach the end.

HA!

We are become Indiana Jones Tomb Architect.

"One last thing. I must stress that you make asking your Liege to stop cackling ominously a priority would you?"

You're lucky I wasn't drinking anything when I read this, @soulcake.

Grunting, Karstah puts the thought aside and gets back to work, eyeing the sack of toys sitting innocently in the corner of her shop.

Have to do that later tonight as well…

Hopefully, the priestess of Valaya wouldn't find her excursions remiss, especially after she had explained why it was necessary she do this.

Many scenes hinted at in this update that I wish I could see more of, but this one in particular.

only the King can summon the Ravens.

Oooooh. Chills, man. The Raven-Cloaked and their image is just badass.

*Rimesong

With their inclusion, you'd reached the formation's self-imposed limit once more. A hundred and fourteen individuals now serve as your guardians, ambassadors and agents to act as you saw fit. The tactical and strategic flexibility of that many Dawi wasn't to be understated, but when you took into account the sheer breadth of skills and abilities each of your retainers had under their belt it grew even more potent. They were, without a doubt, the single most multifaceted and skilled group of elders in the Far North. Others may hold a greater level of skill in certain fields, but all together?

None, in your humble opinion, were as capable as your Hearth Guard in as many potential situations.

Goddamn our Santa's Helper's are becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Hey, you again! Good to see you!

Look to the children and the kind. In the innocence of youth or the heart of purest virtue, they burn like candles in the face of the darkness of the world. There in them, Hysh can be found, in the tumult of the Winds that compose a kind mortal's soul it is there, and the purer their heart the stronger it is.

Emerald eyes and golden hair.

I really love the symbiotic nature of the dawi-brana alliance. Similar enough to understand each other, but different enough to perfectly cover each other's weaknesses.

I'm leaning mage or handmaiden myself.

[ ][Purification]: Weapon
In theory, it's simply applying the process the Rune already does, but to whatever it hits or fires in the case of a crossbow or some other, ranged weapon. This is likely the most straightforward result, but you must admit the Rune is very odd.
[ ][Purification]: Banner
You reckon that the aspect of removing supposed impurities will play an important role in whatever results from a Banner version of this Rune ends up being.

These two seem most promising to me, and banner is damned intriguing.

+1 progress to Understand: Master Rune of Purification, new totals: [Cost: (16 -6(Self made) -1(Exceptional Specialty) -1(Runelord) -1(Talismanic Version) =7 actions]

Wow. Valma must literally do nothing else.

- Troll Acid Bombs! They said It couldn't be done, that it was madness! But I showed them! I showed them all!

Can't wait to see these in action.

[X][Purification]: Weapon

I'm cool with a banner or weapon. It'll take 7 actions to research the next variant so can be one turned as needed to fit any designs once we're back to five actions. Might even be less if alchemy or rune metal spits out other relevant master runes.

Damn it, does anyone remember where soulcake mentioned that if we hadn't crit on the gromril mine, we would have had to Understand MGromril to get The Rune Metal research tree?

To truly safeguard our people against Chaos. Possible other effects, which I am far more curious about than a fiery axe.

Research. Need I say more?

Forgot to add in the update (which I've now done), but yeah here look at this neat info for Understand a Master Rune, which I'll be putting in the turns as well. :^)

16 actions max

-6 (personally made or compressed from combo)
-3 (Savant Specialty)
-2 (Mastered Specialty)
-1 (Exceptional Specialty)
-1 (Runelord)
-1 (per every variant of the Rune made) max 6
-1 (per 4 similar Master Runes as decided by QM)

4 actions minimum.
Wait so we could technically get a Master Rune of the Mountain Souled in 2 turns?....Great now i kinda wished we had. Then would have slapped that baby on top of those Sea Gates.

Oh well, maybe we could get it in time for the gate sof the Karak we are heeling with? Wouldn't that be a nice cap achievement.

When it comes to the Banner option, I can see three interesting possibilities. Now, it might well end up being none of these, but this is what I came up with off the top of my head.
1. Banner of Pure Spirit: Unbreakable. Snazzy, and good, but basically just a linear upgrade on other Banner of better morale options.
2. Banner of Pure Earth: Forces all demons within six inches to roll for Warp Instability (or whatever the special Chaos Demon Morale check was)
3. Banner of Pure Winds: Bigger bonus to Deny The Witch dice.
