That is one of my goals, but given that I just talked myself out of visiting the invasion fleet until they can't reasonably turn around, the immediate goal is still interrupting Namek and Taro's dooms.
Which we will have a much better chance of by sticking with Bassoon until we can meet the Guru in-person (with Bassoon as our proxy), and along the way perhaps stretch our Sight a bit.

Keep in mind, Bassoon's not just a Namekian expert, he seems pretty knowledgeable about at least the broad scope of galactic history and affairs. He's rather likely to be able to help us interpret things we see in the context of the galaxy as a whole, better (most likely) than many people.

I mean, I don't think that basic SSJ2 will be enough to comprehensively and reliably win against a team up of the other Super Saiyans.
What I'm pretty sure is NOT spoilers is that the other royals specifically have a battle plan for dogpiling and taking down a newly ascended Super Saiyan Two. They have no idea if it'd work, because they don't know any more about that power than Kakara does, but they do have a plan.

Also, returning to Garenhuld and using Super Saiyan Two would be noticed by people with ki sense and/or scouters. It would draw attention to Garenhuld and set the doomsday clock for "there be saiyans here" and this coming to the Enemy's attention. And as we have learned, the Enemy is still actively hunting for saiyans and their descendants.

I'm kind of hoping we can get Refined Overcharge, use that to multiply a roughly-on-par-with-Golden-Oozaru power level, and fight like an SS3 while broadcasting at a plausibly deniable level. Also to use the heightened cap, but not the actual SS2 transformation, to give us better stamina for Overcharging.
(I'm not entirely certain that SS2 unlocks a higher untransformed cap, instead of a higher SS cap. Regardless, I think it'd work.)
[X] Scrying vote: Check in on Apra grilling Tabe about his Overcharge technique. You need that thing.

Non-Canon Omake: An Encounter on New Namek
I come with an Omake! It doesn't have any RP spoilers, but it only really makes logical sense if you know RP spoilers, so Poptart has had me put it in spoilers anyway.

Bassoon touched down near the Grand Elder's house, and hurried to Flute who was on guard duty.

"I need to see the Grand Elder immediately."

Flute nods, "Sure, as soon as he's done talking to the human."

Bassoon quirks an eyebrow but says nothing.

"Some girl wants to make a wish or two on the dragon balls. Seemed willing to take no for an answer, so Moori will probably let her try her hand at the challenge gauntlet."

<I wonder what she's going to wish for.> Kakara thought at him.

<Probably something stupid.> The evil dragon opined.

Then the door opened, and Bassoon was face to face with a redhead with glasses.

There is a pause.

"Bassoon!?" <Cynthia!?>

Odd. "Have… we met?"

<What? How?>

<Do you know her?> Bassoon asked his hitchhiker.

<Maybe?>

The redhead shook her head, "Oh, no. That makes sense. Sorry. I don't think we have. It's a long story. I'm Cynthia Balor." She extends her hand.

<WHAT THE HELL!?!>

Bassoon couldn't help but wince.

"Are you okay?" Cynthia looked worried.

<Ask her how the hell she's here. She should be stuck on Garenhuld. She should be stuck under Dandeer's sealing. How!>

"This is going to sound weird, but are you a saiyan?"

Cynthia suddenly got very shifty looking. "What? No! I mean." She glances at Flute, "That's ridiculous, why would I be a Saiyan? See, no tail! Heheh."

She's lying, and it's really obvious.

<Who is this monkey?> Dazarel asks.

<Bassoon, this is really weird. Tell her about me.>

"I have a ghost saiyan princess in my head that thinks you are one. And she wants to know how you escaped dandeer."

Cynthia's expression runs a gamut from exhasperation to alarm, before she puts her fingers to her head.

"Look at the time, gotta go. Talk to you later."

vip

<Kakara, what was that?> You ask your passenger.

<I have no idea. She's still on the planet tho.>

Bassoon shakes his head.

<We can deal with Cynthia after I talk to Grand Elder Moori.>

He entered the house.

Given the givens, non-canon, but given those givens, funny. :D Bonus to recovery from an unexpected encounter!

...hm, actually, you're right, that should have been non-canon.

Ah, well, I'll let it stand.

EDIT: Or wait, should it have? Ah, screw it, I'll figure it out tomorrow when I'm less tired.
I think there's a certain significant difference between 'future event Kakara cannot reasonably alter' being Compliant as compared to 'future event from Kakara's own frame of reference she could easily alter by definition.

Well, there's the Compliant and will-possibly-be-canonized one about Papata Fren. But that's the closest I know of.

In physics there is the concept of the "forward light cone."

This may be broadly construed as "the part of the universe in which your actions here, now, at this point in space and time X, could possibly effect what's going to happen."

Since DBAE happens in a non-Einsteinian universe, the concept is strictly meaningless. But there's a very definite narrative concept of a "forward light cone." There's stuff that might be happening now, but out of our reach, or in the future, but effectively out of our reach unless we take heroic and very out-of-character measures. Things that realistically we can't or won't vote for. So for all intents and purposes, it's going to happen, or it could happen as far as we know.

I think calling such things "compliant" is reasonable.

Alright! That's it! I'm sick of getting stuck in the post-holidays funk. Having received enough Steam funds to buy every big Paradox game from CKII to Stellaris is no excuse to let my motivation drop like a stone. I WILL WRITE SOMETHING.

[X] Planet Zebul. It has absolutely everything you need, if you can just dodge the soldiers. Dazarel has a point; Bassoon's used to doing just that, and the Refugees will be out of their element. And a part of you really wants to find out what the dragon has to teach you...

-[X] While flying to our destination, ask to experiment with transferring Basssoon ki.
No. of Votes: 3

[X] Planet Pura. The middle-of-the-road option, but prone to cascade failures if you manage the risks poorly. Furthermore, you now know that here you're going to run into a psychic motivated to capture you to turn over to the Enemy. That said, Bassoon has a mind shielding ability; that should hopefully allow you to avoid this specific danger.

[X] Planet 42-G. What with the strange characters and the need to time your exit right, this prospect is all about chance, but unlike the other options, it'll at least give you all some downtime, and let you plan your next step with less pressure.

Your winner, in a landslide.

That being said, I do want to write something actiony and exciting to get back into things, and neither quest promises that immediately. So we're doing a thing. Write in something quick and exciting you want to see me write. Can be speculative for the future of the quest, can be a flashback to something in the quest's past, but it must be exciting. No spoilers will be shared this way; if you touch on something I want to keep secret, we're departing on an adventure into AU-land. No, wait. Whatever I write will be true and/or a plausible prediction based entirely on the current limits of Kakara's knowledge at the moment.

No moratorium! Vote however you like. Just give me something fun into which I can sink my teeth! GO! :D

[X] I would like to see you write an interlude in which two random hotheads get into a fight over a girl who, in disgust, enters the frey and kicks both of their asses. Bonus points if the hotheads aren't both male.

[X] I'd like to see Jaffur in Kakara's place inside of Bassoon's mind selecting to go to Pura. Not because it would be faster or more efficient, but because it would allow him, through Bassoon, to tear those motherfuckers appart.

I didn't get the chance to express this in the last update, but the simple fact that there are people who sell out Saiyans like that ruffled my jimmies BIG TIME.

Kakkara, her family and every single member of their race live their whole lives in FEAR of this motherfucker. To the point that they've made an unimaginable number of sacrifices to stay hidden.

Then there are these guys, who make a quick buck on shitting an trampling over that.

If Kakkara wasn't a pacifist, with more important things on her mind, I would have totally expected for Poptart to include a control check for Kakkara to control her anger. THIS is the kind of shit that life long feuds are made out of and my only regret is that the best option for Kakkara's long term plans didn't include going to Pura and doing a bit of "preemptive self-defense killings" to deal with these assclowns.

Well, now we have the chance to see what it would have looked like :)

You want to see Jaffur forcing Bassoon to messily murder people?

You want to see Jaffur forcing Bassoon to messily murder people?

I want to see Jaffur convince Bassoon that the best way forward is to tackle the potential problem before it tackles them and thereby gain time and resources out of it.

See I realize that the interplay between characters here might actually make this proposition harder as Jaffur then Kakkara, because while the Namekian might respect her emotional distress, he would not respect Jaffur's utter lack of self control when it comes to his anger. The social penalty for that, I suspect, would have been quite hefty.

And while I am wording things as I am, that's more of an "in-character" thing vis a vis Jaffur and his anger issues. I really doubt that if Bassoon had to kill he would do it in unnecessarily messy or cruel manners given that he hasn't demonstrated himself to be a sadist.

Really, when it comes down to it, all I want to see is that gang getting their comeuppance.
