"Well, that makes sense; see, 'nachash' is the hebrew word for 'serpent', and it has a gematria value of 358. Likewise, 'moshiach', or 'messiah', also has a gematria value of 358; the serpent which introduces evil and suffering into the world is in some sense identical to the one who redeems and saves the world. In some sense, evil contains the key to its own redemption, which, by the way, is another reason why I'm probably Ultimate Kriemhild Gretchen."

"Sabrina, I'm not in religious studies."

"By the by, did you know that 358 is equal to 365 minus 7? Thus we can infer that the biblical fall of man took place one year after the beginning of the creation of the world, 51 weeks after God's rest. My stretch goal is saving earth in 50 weeks, but it might take a lot longer than that, not gonna lie."

"SABRINA."
Oh, wow, I haven't seen that sort of thing (application of gematria and the like to supposedly unrelated things) since UNSONG ended.

But here, as there, nothing is ever a coincidence, is it?

Frankenvoting day:

[x] Answer Sayaka:
-[x] It's not going to kill her or drive her insane. She's arguably a near-optimal case for learning about it under the circumstances; with us to support her, we believe she would survive it.
--[x] But survival isn't what she's asking about, is it?
--[x] We... think she'd be better off. In the end, when everything is said and done. But we also think that it'll make the world feel much darker. We don't know exactly how she would react. That scares us.
--[x] We would do our level best to help her come to terms with it.
--[x] We just need her to understand that she would not be the only one hurt if this doesn't stay a secret.
---[X] She touched on it earlier with not being able to talk to her friends: Needing to keep it secret is how we think it could hurt her in particular. That's what she should be weighing.

[x] Vote in abeyance. Add:
-[X] During the Fight:
--[X] See how much Sayaka has improved against familiars.
--[X] Provide some assistance against the witch, but don't leave Sayaka feeling useless with nothing to do

That's about what I've got for now, though I think we may be needing to cut down some of the words. But at any rate. Interesting update, much of the happenings.

"That serious, huh," Sayaka comments, raising her eyebrows at you.
[...]
Sayaka snorts, looking thoughtfully at the way the sun fractures, lensed through your Grief. "You're not even smiling."

I, too, am relieved that she picked up on how serious this was. She's worrying about the decision- but it's a decision to be worried over. We should definitely give her time to think about this. Also, we do need to slot in that warning to not talk about this over telepathy.

"Jeeze," Sayaka says, puffing out her cheeks. "I... I can't talk about this, either. I'd have to keep it a secret from Madoka, from Mami, from Hitomi..."

Good that she picked that up on her own, makes it more likely for her to keep it in mind. Us just rattling off a list of terrifying security measures is one thing- but realizing it herself means it'll stick better, I think. As close to understanding as she can get without knowing the truth itself.

Sayaka wrinkles her nose. "What, the day we found you in the alleyway?" she shrugs.

Wait did we not mention this idea to her? We've definitely mentioned it to Mami, and we've had subscriptions over what exactly Homura thinks about the matter in relation to all the highest security secrets, but our arrival itself is so verifiably infosec trivial that I don't remember who actually knows the theory that we just poofed into existence that day. Huh.

"So Sayaka... you've got a bit of a love triangle thing going on."

"... What about it?"

"I just though of the perfect answer!"

"It's not pants, is it?"

"No, no... clones."

"... I don't get it."

"See, with just a couple, heh, a couple of clones, you could date Kyou and Hitomi at the same time!"

"WHY WOULD I WANT TO DATE HITOMI?!"

"... You don't?"

"No."

"Well then, what's the problem?"

"... That... both Hitomi and me want to date Kyousuke."

"Who?"

"... Kyousuke. Kamijou Kyousuke. Kwyjibo! Violin boy! He was at the picnic!"

"Oh. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I meant Kyouko. You can date Kyouko and Hitomi."

"... Whut."

"They'd have a whole Sayaka each, so they can't complain?"

*Facepalm*

"Sabrina... I don't want to date Kyouko, either."

"But then who do you want to date?"

"Kyousuke. Kamijou Kyousuke."

*Crosses arms*

"Now, why would you want to do something silly like that?"

"Same reason Hitomi wants him probably?!"

"Hitomi wants who?"

"Ky-"

"Wait, Hitomi isn't into you?"

"Wh- no! Sabrina! I don't know what idea you've got of me in my head, but I'm not some sort of casanova with girls and boys falling for me left and right, I'm not into girls, I don't think a bunch of people would be happy dating just one of my clones each, and Kyousuke is amazing and plays the violing really fucking well and Hitomi is nice, but just a friend, and Kyouko is kind of OK, but also a girl and I barely know her!"

*Breathes heavily*

"... Well, now you're just not making sense."

*Pulls hairs and screams*

*Ruffles Sayaka's head*

"Worry not, my confused Kouhai. I still love you as a friend, and will support your polyamorous relationships. Just remember that Mami is off limits, OK?"

*Twitches*

"Also, Madoka and Homura, they're, you know..."

"Yeah, they totally are. I think".

"K, 's long as we're clear on that."

"..."

"Come on, the Witch's most likely not gonna kill herself."

*Goes into the Barrier*

"..."

*Follows*

"... Do you really think Hitomi likes me?"

At least we don't make such assumptions IC.
That flub with Hitomi from Sayaka Quest comes to mind...

Also, Akane.
"You're straight. And Meguca. How?"

(Actually, try out Ersatz by TheBleachDoctor. Except don't. Except yes. Except- See for yourself, just so you know, "the nuke option" meme in context of SV PMMM fandom originated there.)

So, about speechifying, I'm pretty sure some of our votes contain us repeating ourselves. I think we tend to do that a lot, whenever a vote comes up, almost like we had a constant amnesia train going.

Maybe having a list of Fact That Got Across could help? :p

Almost every magical girl who learns it dies shortly after.

You don't need to know it to be an amazing magical girl. It's not a nice secret, it's not useful in and of itself,

But I'm also warning you that I am putting the power of life and death in your hands with this. I'm putting Mami's life in your hands, and I want you to make an informed decision about it."

Niko gave Kazumi the same choice I gave Mami, that I'm giving you now. She chose not to know, too.

We all reacted differently to it, but I'm not exaggerating when I say that knowing this has changed us. Will change you, how you see things.

Sayaka says, puffing out her cheeks. "I... I can't talk about this, either. I'd have to keep it a secret from Madoka, from Mami, from Hitomi..."

You can't just... use it, even in anger, or anything.

I... You'll have Homura and I, but yeah. You can't talk about this."

Huh? What are you talking about?

In Magia Record, Sayaka learns the witchbomb. She also learns an evil cult is doing super evil shit regarding it and brainwashed Mami, so she's more concerned about that than witches.

Our psychological profile of Sayaka is that if she's given something to do about it, she can handle the Witchbomb.

We were thinking of Witchbombing Sayaka before that bit of Magireco came out, though.

The current loop's circumstances are... rather optimal.

*Glances pointedly at Madokami*

*Smiles back at Sabrina*

"No, no, this was all you."

"What."

"W-well, I could've Wished to destroy all Witches with my own two hands..."

*Screams internally*

*Screams externally*

"...But something tells me it might not be a very good idea..."

If we had infinite ammo i would suggest practicing our sharpshooting. Make sure we know how the obrez shoots, or something.
I don't know how to break it to you, but...

the Obrez is a piece of junk. I mean, it's a cool piece of junk, but if you want a practical gun, the obrez is most definitely not it.

It's a bolt-action rifle with the vast majority of its barrel cut off, along with much of its stock. That also means that it's missing its forward sights (and usually its rear sights, too), and an actual stock. You'd have better marksmanship with any standard-issue pistol from the past 100 years, along with a better rate of fire, faster reload, and the ability to easily shoot one handed.

Like, the Obrez is useful in that it is technically a smokeless-powder, rifle-caliber gun with a five-round magazine that can be reloaded by stripper clip. Technically. And that's it. It was useful for criminals as a concealable gun, and it was made because there were a shitton of Mosin-nagants laying around. In the US, people used pistols and sawn-off shotguns, with vastly better results.

If we want a compact, accurate, easy-to-handle gun that packs a punch and is handy in a fight, we should go with a P90 or MP7. An obrez is like making a gunblade--it's horrendously impractical as a weapon, but it's really effing cool, and that's why you want one.

A delayed response on my part, but yes.
You bend them to your will because you know better.

Put her in a gilded cage, where she'll be safe.

Because you want to protect her.
This bit runs contrary to what came before it--Sabrina suddenly switches from "I am incompetent and break everything" to "I am in control because I am the only one who knows what's right."

It seems to imply to me that the former is the mentality of a normally despairing Sabrina, while these three lines are the thought process of Dedolere. An overwhelming insanity which dictates that the only way to save everyone is to control them--to lock them away in a gilded cage, where their Grief can End.

Interestingly, the phrase gilded cage also brings to mind a bird cage, which implies...well, we all know what that implies.

Furthermore, this mentality is also a very clean hybridization of Homura and Madoka's personalities--the desire to control others in order to give them happiness (which we see with Homura, and even moreso with Homucifer, in relation to Madoka), combined with the selfless desire to save everyone that is pure Madoka.

We, by which I mean SV, certainly possess some of those traits--we can be arrogant, we like to be in control, and we are generally benevolent--but we also tend to recognize our own limitations, and don't actually commit to the more extreme courses of action that we think up.

Which raises the question of whether Dedolere is actually a perversion of our mentality, or if we're seeing the distorted form of Sabrina's actual character (which the strong similarities to her "parents" somewhat implies). That said, it's also true that these two things may be one and the same.

But it's our Mom's gift on our birthday!
Who dares to badmouth the demented bastard child of a rifle and a shotgun made in Mother Russia?!

Well, duh. I mean, generally speaking, sawing off a part of anything doesn't usually contribute to its increased performance.
It's a good intimidation tool, because it punches holes in people, but that's about it.

I really wonder who the heck that Meguca was. Did Homura have a gun duel with a Russian Meguca, or something?
Why didn't she carry something useful? A VKS, for example, or a Kord. :V

I wonder how Sabrina will react if the Clara Doll theory is true and she finds out the awful "truth".

I am Not a Dalek Clara Doll
I am Not a Dalek Clara Doll

Clara Bomb?

I did the thing.

Otherwise known as, when I take the entire script of DW: Asylum of the Daleks, and am surprised at how very little text I actually need to alter to get something halfway reasonable. Slip in one or two quotes from Rebellion instead, add some judicious line breaks. Then highlight and clip as appropriate...

... shamelessly warping the entire plot and dialogue attributions of both sources. And attributing some tonally OOC but topically reasonable lines to some folks...

(DW:Asylum of the Daleks spoilers. And Rebellion spoilers. I think.)

PMAS: Rebellion

I don't think I asked you to sit.
Your help is required.

Who are you?

A messenger.
Whose messenger?
Madoka's.

And what if I just wake up?
No, Homura. This isn't real either. You are still dreaming.

First, there were the Witches. And then, there was a girl who fought them. And then, in time, she died. There are a few, of course, who believe this girl somehow survived, and that one day she will return. For all our sakes, we must hope these stories are true.

I got your message. Not many people can do that. Send me messages.

What's wrong?
It's a trap.
What is?
You are, and you don't even know it.

[Street]
(Mami is gazing idly through shop windows. She does not notice the Clara Dolls behind her.)

Tomoe Mami is acquired.

[Diner]
(Seated at the bar, Kyouko slurps through a bowl of noodles. The door slides open.)

Sakura Kyouko is acquired.

Where are we?
So how much trouble are we in?
How much trouble?-
-Out of ten? Eleven.

Day three six three. The terror continues. Also, made another soufflé, very nearly. Check defenses. They came again last night. Still always at night.

You will let us enter! We will enter! We will enter!

Are you real? Are you actually, properly, real?
Yes, confirmed. Actually, properly, real.

In other words, who benefits from the way things are right now?
This conversation is irrelevant.
No, it isn't.

Homura can only be retrieved from within the Isolation Field.

You're going to fire me at a planet? That's your plan? I get fired at a planet and expected to fix it?!
In fairness, that is slightly your M O.
Don't be fair to my parents when they're firing me at a planet!

What can I do?

Nothing. It's not one of those things you can fix like you fix everything else. Don't give me those big wet eyes, Sabrina. It's life. Just life. That thing that goes on when you're not there.

So tell me, what's going to happen to me? And don't lie. Because I know when you're lying to me.
You're being re-written.
What comes first? How does it start?
With your mind. Your feelings, your memories, and I'm sorry but it's started already.
How do you know?
Because we've had this conversation four times.

But you know what really gets me? The soufflés. Where do you get milk for the soufflés?
Seriously. Is no one else wondering about that?

No. Frankly, no. Twice.

Why would you come for me?
Why wouldn't I?

You heard what they said. They're subtracting love. Don't let them.

The Incubators, they have a hive mind. Well, they don't, they have a sort of telepathic web.
I hacked into it, did a mass delete on all the information connected with the Law of Cycles.

You made them forget me?

Does it look real to you?
Does what look real?
Where you are right now.

Does it seem real?
It is real.
It's a dream, Homura. You dreamed it for yourself because the truth was too terrible.
Where am I?

Where am I? Where am I?

Because you are a witch.
I am not a witch. I am not a witch!
I'm human.

You were human when we brought you here. You're like a chick that wasn't able to break its shell and grew up within it.

Homura, I am so sorry, but you are a witch. The city, Homura. The city and the buildings and the people. Where, where did it all come from?
I'm human. I am not a witch, I am human. I am not witch, I am human!

It wasn't real. It was never real.

Homura.
Homura. No, no, no, Homura. Homura.
Listen. Homura, you don't have to do this.
Homura!

Why do they hate you so much? They hate you so much. Why?
I fought them many, many times.
They have grown stronger in fear of you.
I know. I tried to stop.

The Incubators above have begun their attack. Run!

Homura, are you-

I am Akemi Homura.

I fought the witches, the wraiths, the Incubators and I am-

Remember me.

- a demon, I suppose.

Run.

Run, Kaname Madoka. And forget all about me.

How long can we wait?
The rest of our lives.
Agreed.

The Isolation Field is destroyed.

Needs significantly more Mami and Nagisa, but otherwise, clearly this is what Rebellion would look like if it still somehow happened now. Clearly.

P90, yes, but not the MP7. NATO testing has confirmed that the 4.6x30mm cartridge is crap for damage. It doesn't have a conical tip, so there are no yaw effects. If H&K could swallow their pride and rechamber it for 5.7x28mm it might make a good weapon.

Agreed on the obrez. Sawing off the barrel and stock made it useless for long range work, and being bolt action makes it useless for close quarters. The AR15 will serve better for any purpose but concealability, and if that's an issue I say we just make a better gun out of Grief.
