"So, we've discovered how to create super mutants with our human gene experiments! This is wonderfull! The perfect human has been made"

"Is this why we have news of three different facilities being attacked by a giant sized human with crab hands?"

"For science, you understand"

To make things worse i imagine the Nat 1 on the hospitals is likely going to be NOD/Yellow Zoner related from them causing disruptions, potentially fueling Initiative first to gain quite a few more seats than we were expecting.

Going by what happened with the Tendril harvesters Nods probably managed to steal the designs for them too, so thats another free tech they'll get from us.

Really would be nice to see them roll a nat 1 in the background and give us a free fully realized tech we don't have to spend much time researching at some point.

Right so I am pushing modeling and pushing it hard because going to 2d50 per die probably stops the crti fails (also stops the crit successes but I am willing to give those up for not having to deal with the fallout of turns like this)
If I understood correctly, the intended mechanics are for crit successes to still have about 1% probability per 'die' (i.e. original 1d100) thrown at it. And crit failures only if multiple 1d50s happen within a single project (so rushing a project nonlinearly increases the chances of a crit fail).

The equivalent of this was us rolling a nat100 for intel at the start of the regency war and knowing in advance that Nod was going to go on the offensive, which massively changed the nature of the Regency War and likely the game.

While Artificial Intelligence is far from a panacea, it is a significant way to adjust overall strategic modeling, and make development significantly more predictable. While it will not eliminate the possibility of things going horrifically wrong, it will improve overall outcomes.

oh great and mighty elder brain , I have a question about the above quoted part ,in the switch in predictive modeling from 1d100 to 2d50 would it still be based on a 1d100 scale for role results meaning that if a 2d50 resulted in 25 and 10 they would be a 35 so logically it would mean a 2d50 that resulted in a pair of nat 1s would be translated into a 2 on a 1d100 , so implementing this means we will no longer deal with nat 1 crit fails thought the odds of us getting double 50 meaning a crit success are even lower than a 1d100 natural nat 100 crit success as a drawback , is this correct ?

cause we are dealing with a truly supernatural amount of crit fails so being able to overcome that recurring problem would be nice

Actually I think the closest equivalent is them rolling a nat 1 and losing a Varyag to boarding, which let us strip it down and loot its techno-gubbins on the relative cheap.

I honestly think that 2D50 action is looking better by the turn!

Hello Important Treasury Employee,

This is just a standard email from the DoR to inform you about the current state of the GDI's luck. With how close the Treasury's plan was, we thought it would be important to quell any worries that may have come up.

Currently the overall luck level of the GDI is above average with an average roll of 51.45. However, overall luck ignores specific instances of failure. We are sorry to say the Leopold II plants, Regional Hospitals, and the London Zone Armor factory have all taken terrible setbacks. Hopefully this will not effect the success of plan goals.

On the upside, the project to generically engineer humans has had unexpected success! For some reason Director Green is rambling about 'Catgirls in our time' or something like that.

Sincerely,
Jason Freedman, Head Secretary of the Department of Randomness

PS - Some of the items discussed in this email are classified. If you got this email by mistake, please report to the nearest InOps employee.
Thank you.

I wonder what this means narratively though. Because like, three different 1 at three different projects feels like something where NOD drives by and set the place on fire, except we just came out of Kane smacking all the leaders and saying "Peace...for now"

So i'm curious on the narrative effect of how this happened

Thames is a bitch for ZA, hospital's are still suffering a lack of medical people, LEO II's... well somebody might just have a bad day from rocket explosions.

Ahhh, gotta love the scent of three nat 1s in the evening. At least the mad science went well. (Catgirls in our time! Wooo.) But, yeah that -10 cap goods for d50s is looking better by the minute. It is so expensive though.

Hmm...

Low rolls on Chicago.

And fusion.

And alloys.

Good on hover vehicles.

And Bergen.

And drones.

And wood.

And vertical farms.

And red zone offensives.

And tib power (yay!)

Somewhat low on visceroids.

Good on space tib.

BAAAAAAAD on leo2s. Holy crap!!!

AMAZING human genome!!! Nat 100 on a political hot topic! Let's gooooo!!!

HORRIBLE on new hospitals!!! Two (edit: THREE) nat ones this turn? Damn.

Low on eyes.

And hallucinogens.

AND ZONE ARMOR!!! ANOTHER NAT 1!!!

Very good on islands.

And shields.

And orbital troops.

And low on ASATs.

Good God.

Overall I'd say a good turn but where it went really bad it went REALLY bad. Three nat 1s...

But that really well placed nat 100 kinda balances that a bit.

That was from using one of our dice and rolling a nat 100 with it though, them screwing up so badly they give us a free tech with one of their own dice is what i'm referring to.

Something like what Eternalstruggle pointed out with the nat 1 that let us hijack the Varyag, but possible to happen when we're not in a war with them constantly rolling for battles and instead something that just pops up as a pleasant surprise as part of an event in some quarters when their own background rolls crit fail.

Going by what they've been rolling out they're already doing some good research in the background after all.
