I'm glad to hear that vote-trading is banned, as I feel it does extremely... commoditizing or... I completely am lacking the proper words to describe it but... Just. The one thread I most associate it with, I don't like what it does. (There are other issues with the meta systems in place there which exacerbate issues, but... I don't like the vote-trading either.)

I just... "Keep it simple and straightforward." That's it, that's my feeling on things.

As for the current vote? Well, two things about it.

First: It's possible that more people will weigh in or change their minds, and one option will outstrip the others. Yes, some people are probably changing their votes frequently or tactically, but -- frankly? I don't think it matters; I don't think they can change the flood. There are just too many voters involved, for tactical-constant-vote-changers to be able to influence things as massively and concretely and indefinitely.

Sheer weight of numbers will tell, basically.

Failing that though? Just... have a vote-off? Have another vote, of the top 3 or 4 only. If the votes are too even to tell right now, then... Have another vote. Not a rehash or anything. Just, a runoff. Note however that this is just a suggested possibility. A "maybe" sort of thing. I don't know if it even would be necessary in the end -- heck, it's only been 48 hours! Some votes have lasted way longer than that! We don't even need to do anything yet. Just, don't worry, folks. Disregard this paragraph if you want. :)

That said: worry. Now for the second thing, finally.

Second: I have bad news, folks. Or alternatively, amusing news. Not sure yet.

We have reached 255 in a given vote. And as you all know, from familiarity with some videogames, 255 or the 256 is the limit on the... was it 8 bit or 16 bit systems? Anyway! 255 is the limit. I am sad to announce that we can go no further; once our stats breach the 255 or 256 limit, it wraps-around. This is it, folks. We've broken the memory storage of the game.

28 = 256

So with 8 bits you can store 256 numbers, either signed [-128,127] or unsigned [0,255].

worse.

the vote glitches to -1 and [ ] become a necromancer gets the maximum possible votes.

Our favorite hugger made a great post about the possibilities to turbocharge the Dammerlichtreiter legend if we take that job, which I will admit is a big draw for me.
I'd forgotten about that. I'm currently voting Bodyguard, Edgelord and Loremaster.

So let me talk about the Markgräfin position for a little bit.

There's is one area, one thing on some of our to-do lists where working in Sylvania is not only a golden opportunity, but a golden opportunity wrapped inside a golden wrapper filled with gold caramel.

We're all of course familiar with this bit of leeway that Roswita will be giving us:

So if we take the job, we can encourage the Sylvanians to worship literally any Deity that isn't strictly forbidden. This is a type of freedom we're really not used to, so I appreciate it.

Now, my initial thought was to abuse this loophole by starting up worship of the technically-not-legislated-against God Mork. The guy has contributed more to Mathilde's cause than Sigmar has after all. And no, I am not forgetting about the Sängerkritische event when I say that.

But then I realised that there might be an even better choice for this for those of us hybristic and powerhungry enough to want it. I asked our beloved loremaster for help, and from the depths of the last romance war this came up:

Gentlepeople of the thread, if we choose to become Roswita's Eastern Edgelord, we're in a position where we can literally have the Dämmerlichreiter worshipped as a Goddess.

Like, all of you who ever thought that "Mathilde becoming God could be kinda cool"? This is your time to shine. First we go to Sylvania, then we convince the rest of the thread to go along with this harebrained scheme, and then, well, I'll be honest, I have no idea what'd happen next, but that's the fun thing about Quests, you get to figure stuff out as we go along! Ranald forbade us from studying his divine essence, but who cares when we can just study our own God?

Sure, there's probably a thousand various reasons why this is a terrible idea, but trust me, we're never going to get an opportunity like this ever again. The stars really have aligned to make this even theoretically plausible, and can you people really live with yourselves if you let an opportunity like this pass us by?

Mathilde worships a God of Gambles, so baby, let's head our there and take some risks! What greater heist is possible than personally co-opting a region from worshipping vampires and Sigmar!?
Okay this has convinced me. I'm removing my vote for Loremaster in hopes of tipping it towards Markgraf which is already tied with Waystone.

[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred

What surprises me about how close this vote is isn't that it's close- I've seen huge voter turnout with incredibly tightly contested votes before- but that it's entirely legitimately close. People aren't shifting their votes around to keep the first place options deliberately tied, and instead there's a neck-and-neck race between the top 3/4 options.

I'd forgotten about that.

Max Twilight Rider!

I totally expect that if we developed the mythological around mathy, it won't actually be mathy becoming a god, it would be a minor god or independent warp entity becoming a mathy.

Which would be completely amazing plot if this happens while mathy is still alive.

Ranald: Hi girl! Meet your baby sister... daughter... twin??? Whatever, just say hello mathy 2!

A living shadow of magic riding a monstrous shadowy horse and an exaggerated glowing greatsword: hello. Have you seen any necromancers? I would very much like to smite some, pretty please?

So random thought in favor of Sylvania and really any human option, namely we can have fun seeing Mathilde have to get used to not having master crafted dwarven stuff all the time.

You know what. This sets a horrible precedent, but Hugger do have some compelling arguments for once (and/or arguments that tickles my hubris), and my current vote is for exactly the 4 options that are in the lead, so I both feel like I have all the power, and like I can afford to be a bit frivolous.

Mathilde is more than capable of importing, or personally visiting close by holds, for master crafted dwarven stuff.
Also we can, and we should, make a teleport tower to K8P, all our master crafted stuff is there.

Don't forget this,
My head canon (until I can vote to make her canon) is that she is too small and young to have a lot of nunce.

She wants ride her horse in circles around Stirland, swing her big sword, cast shadow magic and smite undead and undead connected things all day.

And doesn't really Understand why anyone would not be spending every moment doing those things? Or want to talk about anything else.

Mathy: so we went for a ride last play date, what do you..

Mathy2: more riding please.

Mathy: ok... were do you want to stop for lunch?

Mathy2: ... stop?
And this;

I haef made... picture.

It is really funny.

Since things are so close I'm going back to approval voting.

[x] Loremaster-at-Large of Karak Eight Peaks
[x] The Waystone Project

I am suddenly really tempted to vote Markgraf.
Will need to check the vote tally in the morning in case i want to redo my vote.

I think each of the top four has been in first at some point or another. Things might well just come down to the four (or three) way coin flip of when Boney calls the vote.

A runoff of the top 4 won't change anything. I think most if not all people, especially those who would vote in a runoff, have already voted for at least 1 of the top 4.
