I wonder if ??? means that Vlag's waystone infrastructure is intact and that Karaz Ankor now has an even bigger safety margin as well as allowing Dum's energies to be channeled to KaK.
We just clogged the Waystone just north of Vlag, so I'm not sure how that could work... unless, hmm... Unless it's Vlag's own accumulated power being sent south through Vlag's Waystone?

i.e. Maybe it's not Dum's energies being sent south, but Vlag's?

I still suspect that the lost Axe of Grimnir may be the equivalent of the Azrilbezaz -- "silver control object" -- that Belegar's throne was. That, or, it's the control for Peak Pass.
"The Third Axe of Grimnir, lost, and now all have forgotten that once Peak Pass only opened when Karak Kadrin wished it to be open."
I'm not sure what it would be doing up north in the hands of the Karag Dum royal line, instead of Karak Kadrin, but maybe it was there temporarily? Or maybe Karak Kadrin had sent somebody with it up north, when it heard Karag Dum talk about the Winds of Chaos blowing (whereas other Runelords and Holds had mostly scoffed at them)? Hence also the reason why Dum would send its Prince back with the Axe, when it looked like Dum was going to be lost; because it was a priceless relic, maybe one that had come north with a Slayer from Karak Kadrin and who had subsequently fallen, and thus was to be returned to Karak Kadrin.

Small brain: Rolling sixes is good
Normal brain: Rolling sixes is bad, because of Slaanesh
Big brain: Rolling sixes is good, because of Boney's reactions
Galaxy brain: Rolling sixes is bad, and Boney's reactions are a bait

Karak simply means mountain while Karag means "Volcano or barren mountain". Why Karak is used in some places and Karag is used in others I'm not sure, semantically Karag seems to just be a subset of Karak, but most of the time they seem to be used to refer to the same type of thing.
Hoy, never say that in front of a dwarf, it'd be like telling a(more angry) Eskimo that all of their different words for snow are essentially the same thing.

Lotr Gandalf is either Quaysh for super-advanced wizardry, Hysh for the white magic vibe, Ulgu as the Gray or some sort of Divine Lore of Eru Illuvatar for the Maiar thing.

Hobbit Gandalf is Aqshy for the pine-cone Fireball thing.

Both could be Chamon for the fireworks.

In conclusion, fear the Istar.

Seriously though, I'm insanely curious what that second roll was for. Maybe whether they came towards us? Or the state of possible survivors confirmed by the last roll?

Notably.

This event should be a catalyst for unlocking a Waystone related Trait when the Expedition is completed. That'll be real helpful.

Ok, Mathilde has a nice checklist going.

  • stole the blood of 'demons' for her own use
  • stole a artifact of necromancy
  • stole divine power from a god
  • stole (conquered) K8P doesn't count
  • stole a gasmask that lead to K8P being conquered
  • stole a lost mountain and inhabitants from the warp
Escalation now requires something further and more ridiculous. Quite frankly even stealing one of the city-ships off the dark elves doesn't sound enough. Also i fear that being a saint of Ranald is becoming inevitable and/or obvious (especially, since protector is on).

Hmmm 'stealing the skaven from the horned rat'....

Obviously, we need to steal Sigmar's divinity.
