...Should we be worried that you already have a plan for that?

No, I'm just perpetually prepared.

Ranald has already deemed that one million Orcs are coming right for the Western Gates and if you fail to take that threat seriously because you're seeing this in terms of 'oh Boney won't really put us in that much of a bind', let me assure you that if you mishandle this situation, I won't hesitate to allow every consequence to play itself out. If that results in Mathilde's death, I'll kill her stone dead and I'll have a new quest thread OP up the next day.

And exploring the world is a missed opportunity to immerse the narrative in one specific part of it. It's a big setting, you can't go wide without giving up going deep, and you can't go deep without giving up going wide, and if you try to do both you'll end up doing neither.

Well, it IS technically possible if one writes a huge epic... its one of the things ASOIaF does particularly well, ... One Piece too, now that I think of it, although not from the beginning, and the fact it is so long may contribute, but that doesnt stop it from making each island deeper than the last...

That is not to say you should do it, or any author that doesn't have a lot to write, talent, experience, a predilection towards breaking this particular mould and a desire to do so should attempt it, just that it is technically something one can achieve. It is a fact, however, that its not something even most of the best of the best cannot achieve, and that is ok, even people of equal skill have different strengths, I am just saying it is technically possible.

Thorgrim quest? Wandering the world as High King of the Dawi, righting wrongs and ending grudges? :V

It's Warhammer again? That's awesome. Though I probably would continue reading your work even if it were a Teletubby/Twilight crossover universe.
I can see a oneshot crackfic. I can see a 15k word oneshot goodfic (the writer would have to be Terry Pratchett level).

I can see a bad-quest that dies in seven to ten turns.

What is beyond my capacity is to imagine a good-quest of this type.

Would like to see this, if it can be done.

Practically any idea can be turned into a good story, even a bad one, but I have to admit this one would be a challenge.

Play it 100% straight :
  1. Teletubbies are strange creatures with the ability to Scry anything through the TV screen on their tummies. They try to escape from the Volituri, who like the idea of adding them to their collection of useful superpowered servants.
  2. The Volituri canonically have unspecified amounts of influence over world governments, assorted superpowers which include mind-reading, tracking anyone they've seen before, a whole bunch of OP direct combat powers, and super-speed/strength for enhanced mobility. Oh, and IIRC they're also richer than Batman.
  3. Meanwhile the Teletubbies are all six to ten feet tall (seriously, you can't make this up), can animate objects and make them sentient, look visibly inhuman and can barely talk, and cause useful but uncontrolled magical events (once per episode on average). They're also superhumanly good at making friends with pretty much anything.
Can the Teletubbies escape their pursuers? Will they find a safe place to hide? Allies? Only you can decide, with the power of friendship voting!

Obviously, the cliches of each genre have to be upheld. Whenever the Teletubbies are alone, it's written as if everything was whimsical and fun! Even the stuff that's obviously bad news!
Meanwhile whenever the Volituri are around, it's sinister and teenagers stare at each other a lot. The Teletubbies are a little disturbed, but at least it's an obvious tell that their pursuers are in the area!

I never thought I would say this, but you actually have got me interested in a teletubbie quest. Not sure how to feel about that.

Perhaps I am mistaken. I was under the impression that we were getting the item for the purpose of staging a breakout if we were too hard pressed to use SM.
That was one of the potential use cases, but not the only one. And we actually can still use it in that way even with the current setup, even though it's not ideal; it takes more time to pull out than S&M, but it doesn't need the concentration or run the risk of miscasting under pressure.

Bella has discovered that you are secretly the Dark Prince Tinky Winky. How do you choose to respond?

[] Teletubby Uh-oh! Flee, and begin your life anew
[] Silence her, and her family for good measure
[] Try to convince her to keep your secret
[] Petition the Great Sun-Baby for divine intervention
