they said they are off for two days.

there is no hope... just bow to the Burrito gods...
They said that on Wednesday; 'one day from now' would have been Thursday, so two days would be Friday, and it's Friday, more or less. (I wouldn't want to actually badger them though.)
Just pick two and you have your spell! Mathilde's Knightly Night Implement for Facilitating Expression! Mathilde's Knightly Night Implement for Frightening Enemies, Mathilde's Knightly Night Implement for Facilitating Exterminations, the are so many possibilities that I'd get bored writing them down and write a program to do it!

I had to remove 'for' from the list because it didn't look too good, though.

I was re-reading the spellbooks and I realized that with our windsight we might be uniquely positioned to understand the unique differences between winds in their achieving the goals of various lesser and petty magics.

because the Apparition binding? that's us attempting to reach a goal that Chamon has accomplished, but what precisely are the differences between Chamon and Ulgu in the petty and lesser magics? Crow's Feast is suggested to be accomplished through bound Apparitions as well, and is much simpler than the Battle Magic of Gehenna.

We have access to 6 wind casters currently, Ghyran Shyish Chamon Aqshy Azyr and Ulgu. Cython is a Hysh caster, and I'm sure we can contact a Ghur caster interested in roaming the mountains of the badlands for a time.

I think Chamon and Ghur are most directly applicable for the Apparition binding as we know right now, but it would be interesting to learn about all the ingredients of the taco in time!

also: anybody else think that we should use the boon to ask Belegard to hear out Thorgrim? I'm mildly worried about a grudge forming. That'd be a disaster

We could, but we don't know he has anything to say, and Thorgrim wouldn't talk anyways.

It's not mind control, though; if we ask Belegar for something that would break him, he'll break.

Unlikely. Mathilde's windsight is rare but not unique, and there are plenty of magisters who essentially 'retire' from active service to focus primarily on academics and who'd be ideally positioned for that sort of study. No, Mathilde's time and windsight is much better spent examining the ingredients for the ideal burrito.

Also, no on the boon. Apart from anything else, IC Mathilde has no reason to think Belegar is actually wrong about Thorgrim.

4) Teleport to, probably somewhere in the deep jungles of the Lizardmen empire and using your dominion of languages and shapeshifting, ask for a burrito.
Trying to convince a Slann that a burrito stand on the corner of every city in the Old World is an integral part of the Great Plan may be one of the most difficult things a mortal is theoretically capable of doing.

At the same time, it may be one of the most important changes.

Our windsight is at least a tier below Volan's, and it's very likely that at least a few magister or lord magister (also counting the various college bosses) have sight that at least matches us. And if they're in Altdorf, they also have access to all the wizards too.

We can't use the Boon to get Belegar to hear out Thorgrim, because Mathilde doesn't know Thorgrim has anything to say. And he might well have nothing to say, because the failing network is a Secret for High Kings. Finally, if Thorgrim does say something, then there's no need for a boon, because he's the bloody High King, and Belegar has to listen to him, and what he says would actually do a lot to resolve the tension. Grudges are a last resort, after all. With humans, there'd be suspicion Thorgrim is lying, but I don't think a dwarf would even consider the possibility in the circumstances, and rightly so.

The Elves looked down upon the Colleges, as they believed that true tacos could only be created by masters of all eight ingredients single-handedly weaving them in harmony: Shell, Meat, Refried Beans, Cheese, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Lettuce, Onions. But Teclis departed from this wisdom and instead trained disciples of each individual ingredient, reasoning that a single ingredient may only be able to create a complete taco in collaboration but would still be worth perfecting on its own! Tortilla chips, Nachos, Bean Dip, French onion dip, all of these may only be inferior relatives of the true tacos, but they are still delicious. And so the Colleges were born.
Hmm.

Hmmmm.
Windherder: You've developed an intuitive grasp of how Winds interact, when they'll interfere with each other, and when they'll mix and curdle into Dhar. Makes basic multi-Wind Enchantment and Spellcasting possible, as long as other Wizards provide the other Winds.
Hmmmmm.
And so, the next business venture 'of direct and practical use to our cause' becomes clear:

Weber's Enchanted Burrito Express Ring of franchises across the Empire and Karaz Ankor.

Everyone knows that pizza is the superior party food.

and it only needs 3 components but can have more added as desired!

Gives a new meaning to Ulgu Tongs Research, too.

Meat is clearly Ghur, of course.
Guac is Jade, perhaps.
Shell is Gold.
Lettuce is Celestial (wishy-washy pointless filler)
Refried Beans is Shyish (the beans must live on)
Sour Cream is Hysh. Clue is in the name, not the colour.
Salsa is Bright. Like a bit of heat.
Cheese is... Ulgu? Emphemeral state between solid and liquid as it melts. And very tasty.

And in counterpart to the WEBERs fast-food burritos, we have
Mathilde's Authentic Taco House, an Innovative Lively Degustative Experience

Map worked as an acronym because the spell was a map. Naming other spells map only bothers a player.

(I am the player.)
Yeah, same here.

I really liked the MAP idea because it worked as an acronym and as an idle whim/wish/joke of "Heh, maybe in ages people will associate the word 'map' with my spell 'MAP'." This is also why the MAPP worked; because it was just an expansion and sharing of the MAP spell. (And also because the pterodactyl thing was funny, too. But even there, that was about the joke/possibility of the base spell getting changed again and again, until it got even more P's added to it.) It was cute, and amusing, basically.

Calling everything else MAP cheapens that and wears the fun out of it entirely. Same thing for the MATHILDE thing; now that we've done it once -- with the Calamity Rooms -- I'm not sure I want to do it again.

Clever ideas and jokes and neat-funny-little-things and quirks are best... when they are actually clever and funny. Not when you run the joke into the ground. It makes it less fun, less special, to name everything MAP or MATHILDE. (Especially because the Calamity Rooms/Towers were 8 individual things. Not one item or spell acronym'd to MATHILDE. Which meant you'd have to put together all of their names, and then get to put them together in the right order, in order to uncover the joke. There is an element of puzzle-hunting and seeking involved here. Which thus makes the reference more amusing, because it's slightly hidden. It's not just naming it MATHILDE as an acronym! Which is what makes it neat and cool. It's a pun you have to discover. It's subtle and blatant both. It's way better than just any other MATHILDE acronym idea I'd ever seen anywhere else, because of that combination of things.)

Yeah, doing a pun more then once is overkill. We still have Weber to use, but after that we need to get creative.

We name things after other people! Like A.L.G.A.R.D. Should be related to the person in someway though... If we do the teleport towers that could be named after either. To make a web way joke, or because Algard has a reputation with super towers.

I do like the idea of naming a hypothetical knife spell 'K.N.I.F.E.', or our foggy path spell 'F.O.G.P.A.T.H.'.

for me, Sort of?

I like Mathilde's X, a good pun or a good acronym. (staff of mistery, MAP or MMM as examples)

but they have to be generally fun and funny.

At its lowest level, Mathilde's X, is fine. I would prefer a slam dunk like the towers, but i don't want to torture the joke.

so

Base level: Mathide's X (works with anything)

level one: add a good pun.

level three: a good acronym.

level four: a good, punny acronym.

level four: a good, punny Acronym of Mathilde.

the key part is the 'good'

so i think 'Mathide's good pun' is always a safe bet. anything more is gravy, but if it doesn't work, don't push it.

I'd put puns over acronyms, personally. You can use acronyms to make puns, but it's actually sort of cheating because you have to torture it a bit, so including an acronym just for the sake of it isn't really something we should be doing, if we can get a better result with less words. Brevity is the soul of wit, and all that.
