You take a moment to look out over a field of gore and corpses. Priests of Morr pick their way through dead Skaven by the dozen, extricating as many of the human dead as they can. There must be thousands of Skaven in this battlefield alone, stabbed or speared or shot with bolt or bullet, and some peppered with amber shards you've never seen before. "Did we find success here?"
Out of curiosity, anyone know what these are from? My first bet is a Amber wizard spell obviously, but IDK.

@BoneyM would Kragg me amiable if Mathilde suggested Johann does the spell on the axe, tells Kragg what he figured out. Then have Mathilde Mindhole him go forget it?

Edit: wait nevermind now I feel dumb forgot how to spell worked specifically...

Editedit: would there be any alchemical potion to make Johann forget the axe Rune knowledge?

Better to leave the money where it is. Might consider diverting some (half?) once we eat through most of our hoard but for now they can use it better than us.

No.

That's literally the strongest Fire battlemagic spell.

They are tough, but not that tough. Not remotely.
Fun Fact, while the empowered version gives it more hits and a greater area of effect the hits are still only S4, an Emperor Dragon is around T8 so it would only be hurt on 6+, meaning he has a very good chance of emerging unscated.

I think you focused so much on wanting that thing you forgot is an uncontroled vortex of fire, whose primary use is eliminating large amounts of enemies in a situation you don't care much for what is around those enemies, that is pretty much the diametric oposite situation of trying to fight an emperor dragon, so of course it is very bad at it, we should look single target spells if we want to damage it.

I thought more along the lines of commissioning one, having it shipped to K8P in parts, and built in Karag Nar.
Still won't work. They're powered by Orbs of Sorcery, which the Colleges can't make, and the Light College uses theirs to secure their vault of evil and dangerous stuff they keep locked away. Removing the Orbs weakens the defences.

So, since we're deciding/presenting possible research goals, I might as well talk about something that's been rattling round my brain the last few days.

See, one of the K8P's greatest problems (and off the dwarven race as a whole) is the declining population, correct? And fixing that is quite possibly the greatest thing Mathilde could do for her Lord, right?

Well, I had this idea about that: What if the dwarves just stopped dying? That would permanently solve the population problem, and give us a steady supple of stalwart defenders against the forces of Chaos and Destruction.

Now, if I recall correctly, weren't there some ancient people down south who made a potion that granted immortality? Like honest to God( Abel) permanent, for forever and a day, until the End of Times, comparable to the Hourai Elixer tier not going to definitively die levels of immortality? And I'm pretty sure the drinker can spread the effects on their own as well?

I think, if anything, that should be our next project. Like, imagine if we'd had something like that during the Sylvania campaign! Abel would still be with us, and not even the Greatsword's own incompetence could get them killed!

(also, this update featured another example of greatswords dying while failing their duty)

Does this mean you've finally given up on Abel and are advocating for Kragg instead?
There is more than one kind of love! The love a craftsman holds for their favourite tools is vital for any budding necromancers, you know.

For those who are confused what "Reichthard (no relation)" in the update was about - Magister Lord Reichthard of the Bright Order was the first human wizard punished by Pacification (traumatic soul surgery that makes you unable to use magic). Reichthard from the update is, apparently, not related to that Reichthard.

Thoughts on votes while I work through catching up:

[ ] FIEF: Leave the current and future money be.

They're doing solid work for the investment, we don't NEED that cash exactly, and its helping the community.
The Steward is a solid lad and everyone both likes and is terrified of us, so we're good on any scraping off the top.

[ ] [TOWER] Complete

Its hit the target time, completely exceeded all expectations. I think we're fine.

Project wise I can see three categories:
1) Projects we SHOULD propose because Belegar would wonder why we didn't.
[ ] PROJECT: Dragon
[ ] PROJECT: Karag Mhonar

These two are established to be immediate matters of concern. It doesn't matter whether we think they're priorities, its likely to be Belegar's priorities and I think its better to give him the option than make him feel compelled to 'write in'

[ ] PROJECT: Skaven Politics

Skaven fucking around is absolutely important and relevant, as they're our main active opposition in this area. If Skryre are mainly using Mors to test their inventions rather than actually crush them, and Eshin are completely silent, we want to know why before the Skaven unite against us.

2) Projects which help with AP Hell
[ ] PROJECT: Queekish
[ ] PROJECT: Skaven Politics

We can't stop with the Skaven. Living specimens require constant commitment of actions, and if we're doing that we might as well make it our job.

3) Projects which advance long term goals
[ ] PROJECT: Aethyric Vitae

Well, barring an AP Hell solver being taken we probably can't find the AP without making it our job. We should propose so.

Why haven't we supplied Kragg with a cratefull of Aetheric Vitae yet? Rather have the (hypothetically) absurdly useful reagent bettering our immediate situation than waiting +5 more years in hopes of getting some +College Favor.

Because we haven't even done the basic shit to make sure it's even remotely useful, for fucks sake we don't even know what happens if flesh comes into contact with it.

I hope we can keep a compendium of profile pictures, instead of one replacing the other. I like both of them.

Editedit: would there be any alchemical potion to make Johann forget the axe Rune knowledge?
The issue is not that Johann knows, but that the Empire can apparently pump out people that can figure out how Dawi stuff works. He is a symptom, not the underlying issue.

I'm not sure it's been brought up before (possibly because it's obvious enough for everyone to get immediately) but Adela is basically helping Gotri with his steamtank fetish in exchange for fast-tracking an introduction to the very least of dwarven engineering.

(I'm not quite sure why Adela is learning dwarf engineering, I'm sort of assuming she's doing it partly so she can write papers on it, but that isn't really an end-point of an ambition.)

Tangent aside, I trust Gotri's sharing engineering in a sustainable way and not stepping on the guild's toes.
