Huh...well, I guess that's ok...I say this knowing there's probably stuff we won't know until the end, but if all we got out of Kragg was taking care of that pesky shield coverage thing (and probably armor in general) that'd be pretty nice.

@BoneyM, the Rune of Gazul is awesome, but what does it do? Does it just increase the strength of Burning Shadows?

You're not entirely sure but you're reasonably confident that the nega-flames of the Dwarven Death God have more punch than the standard spell, yeah.

Hm.

@BoneyM

If we go for one of the non-checkpoint options, can we still shell out Dwarf Favor to have our entrance secured?

Yes, it'll be an option for the penthouse slot in future turns.

The downside to all of this is that when you ask Panoramia if she thinks it'd be a good idea to use the eternally-burning fires of Dwarven Hell to weed her gardens, she laughs, looks at you, realizes you're not kidding, says "no" a lot and then runs away.
And just like that, the ship has sunk. Sorry, kiddo, your ambition must overween at least this much to fly Air Mathilde.

That was delightful. Here's a room suggestion, though: a receiving-room/sitting-room. If we turn the Penthouse into a Trophy Room or Security Checkpoint, we have no place to, like, hang out with someone or entertain a guest. It would be nice to have a room dedicated to socializing, so that people can call on us in our home and we aren't stuck having to invite them into, like, our bedroom, which sends an awkward message, or our library, which is cozy but is a bad place for having snacks.

Algard can't move the sun. On the other hand he can see that the tower's operator has Unnatural Shadow. He knows a bit about shadows himself. Adding a Shadow Throne function is the obvious follow up to the snippet.

This means that Mathilde had better get on with her shadow training, both in the Ulgu room and the Burning Death room.

Sunset on the East Gate

Durkin and Makrok stand at their posts and watch the shadows spread across the Death Pass and up the slopes on the far side. "That is just weird."
"The Wizard has to practice her her art like everyone else, Durkin."
"Yes but"
"She's getting better too."
"Oh I grant you. Last month it danced about so much I was nearly sick. But..."
"Yes?"
"Why kittens?"

So what, precisely, does the rune do? Does it add fire damage to the acid effect?

We didn't get a stealth spell, but we did get our first piece of Battle Magic. It could be reasoned that teleporting behind someone is a form of stealth. I've wanted shadow knives for a while now, and with our enchanting level up, we can go throw it on our guns.

We don't know exactly what it does, but at the very least it's going to make it hit harder.

...

I suspect it's going to mean that the previously mentioned "Perfect Shieldwall blocks the spell" a moot point, hard to do that when the shadow burns with the heat of the dwarfen god of the underworld.

I've forgotten, where exactly is the duckling club meeting at the moment? Adding a meeting room for it in the penthouse might be a good idea.

The answer to shieldwalls is dwarf cannons going straight through the line.

did

did they just

Then, to your surprise, Algard approaches you. "So," he says, seemingly confused. "The problem is that the sun is in the wrong place some of the time, right?"

You blink at him. "Yes?"

"Why don't you just move it, then?"

What. "What?"

"Well, not move it, move it. But just, you know. Swap two parts of the sky for a bit."

What. "What?"

"So the sun can shine the shadow wherever you want it to."

"Didn't sit right with me that this masterwork of yours is all about something called 'Burning Shadows' but there's no actual fire, and since you're a fan of swords, I decided there was no better fire than that of Gazul's burning sword."

Hmm. Humorous reactions aside, it's interesting to think about how it was the Guardian of the Underworld who codified or discovered the Runes of the Ancestor Gods.

It's a neat, interesting, and thoughtful idea.
[Scheduling Possibilities: 4]
[Rolling...]
[Learning Shadow Knives: Learning, 53+26=79.]

To your utter frustration, the scheduling seems deliberately designed to frustrate you
... So I'm just gonna blame the Celestial College for this.
Magister Grey, who recently taught you and is a master of the fundamentals of enchantment. Lord Magister Melkoth, who somehow altered the nature of time itself to make his age impossible to calculate because he got sick of birthday parties as he approached an age in the triple digits, who also uses an illusion to hide the cane he leans upon. Lord Magister Grey (no relation)
But where is Magister Gray (no relation)?
from the rotating chair for the optional Grey Wizard
Beautiful.

Eh, you can't win them all, I guess.

We meet in Karag Nar, in a random room we grabbed for the purpose.
You instead follow the model given to you by the Colleges of Magic, which has a long history of managing unruly wizards and keeping them sane, safe, and on-task. You commandeer an out-of-the-way room, commission some sturdy furniture, buy some cushions and a kettle, and have Panoramia have a word with her Halflings friends and they're happy to provide nibbles.
The receiving room/sitting room idea I proposed would be a great place to hold Duckling Club, yeah.

So, if the Burning Shadows of our Tower now summon the Fires of the Dwarven Underworld, what happens when an army of Chaos Dwarves gets hit?

I find that I really want to know the answer to this question.

"Grungni discovered many of the Runes, and Thungni discovered most of the rest. But I've been reminded that it was Gazul that discovered the Runes of Grungni, Valaya, and Grimnir. And, of course, the Rune of Gazul."
Huh. The thing about Gazul was an eyebrow raiser, but I thought that Thungni discovered runes first...interesting.

Yeah, after the flames of Gazul, Panoramia might have had a point. I don't think there was even a roll for that, just Panoramia knowing that this was a bad idea.
