Grey Seers extensively use warpstone so Mathilde might be able to provide a really nasty surprise.

That said being better at magic should be a priority.

If there are techniques to hide from Magesight*, we should really get around to learning them. Stabbing in the back is likely the best shot we get against those.
Alternatively, learn every remaining spell to squeeze out Magic 8 or whatnot.

*ofc no reason to think they have it, but any mage who lived long enough as skaven probably has at least some magical senses tuned to the anti-backstabbing frequencies, right?

This, and thank Kragg for the belt which allows us to facetank the first spell.

Hopefully, ygatveould be enough to clise distance and sword the seer - I fo notbfancy our chances in the magical duel. Of vouse, even if we suceed, we will be facing his very pissed and very capable bidyguards and trying to disengage like hell

Not a fight I am looking for.

You know I am extremely thankful for our belt with the prospect of running into Grey Seers, mainly because I do not want Mathilde being hit by a Curse of 13 spell.

OTOH it can be Thanquol-ish "Saturday morning cartoon level villain" incompetent fellow. :V
Maybe that's why the Skaven here are all fighting - not!Thanquol used him incredible intelligence and authority as Grey Seer to make them cooperate against the Orks or something?

Still, better be pessimistic.
@BoneyM , sorry if it was asked before, but does Grey Order have techniques of hiding from various magical senses and, if yes, can we learn it in Colleges?

While I'm not boney, this looks like exactly the kind of technique you don't know the existance of, right up till the point you get it taught.

[X] [SPIDER] They are foreign allies and thus the responsibility of Prince Kazrik.
[X] [KRAGG] Hit Hard
[X] Tower of Utter Neutrality - with rune and material and a great deal of care, make your Tower completely magically neutral. Large bonus to studying anything magical, small bonus to studying everything else from higher Magesight contrast. 250gc, 5 Dwarf favours.
[X] [LIBRARY] Redshirt Army
[X] [SHOPPING] A Marksdwarf Pistol.
[x] [ENCHANTMENT] Burning Vengeance item.

I'm also heavily in favor of the Burning Vengence item, as it offers a unique capability that just isn't available in the expedition right now and we're facing enemies where it's perfect to use against them.

With regards to the previous discussion of Araby, honestly we really should try and get someone involved there ASAP. It's a trade nexus for wealth, it's diplomatic reach goes to the far east, it has a native magic tradition that's unique to it, and has been closely aligned with the Elves for thousands of years so in general their magical knowledge should be exceptional in most aspects. Although to be fair it appears that most of their knowledge seems to be advanced in general, so they should have a wide variety of topics to pick from.

Unlike the Empire they also don't have a centralized College, so their magical texts should just cost gold instead of utilizing the favor mechanic. They also have an extensive trade relationship with Ulthuan, so getting Elvish texts should be even easier than it is in Marienburg.

You know, given what Johann just said about the social barriers to full body gilding, Karak Eight Peaks would be a great place for him to live indefinitely. There are no desperate peasants there, and for a dwarf, if the bizarre manling wizard is made of gold that's just one more random wtf amongst many wtfs.

If Johann is good enough to do it, I'd be more than happy for Mathilde to support him completing his ascension here, as it would essentially tie him to K8P until he's a wizard lord.

Or, if it would work, he might be very happy with a persistent item of doppelgänger into un-gilded Johann. There's defiantly the potential for a fruitful alliance here.

Random suggestion, but with Wolf as an example with Mathilde, I wouldn't be surprised if Johann starts looking into familiars, particularly as we have a library on the subject. Then there might be a robot/golem for Wolf to have a rivalry with.

A last thing, we should probably ask Johann, at some point, whether he wants to spend his own College Favour on creating a Chamon tower, with Mathilde organising construction, on the proviso that he has to share

[X] [SPIDER] They are military assets and thus the responsibility of Dreng.
(OOC: Dwarfs will build up rapid trust through mutual combat against Skaven.)

[X] [KRAGG] Hit Hard
(OOC: Strength 10 cannonball rune? Yes please!)

[X] Tower of Utter Neutrality - with rune and material and a great deal of care, make your Tower completely magically neutral. Large bonus to studying anything magical, small bonus to studying everything else from higher Magesight contrast. 250gc, 5 Dwarf favours.
(OOC: I am a firm Snek Juice advocate, and finally we can get going on that.)

[X] [LIBRARY] Plan Redshirt
[X] [LIBRARY] Snakes And Swords
[X] [RUNE] No purchase.
[X] [ENCHANTMENT] No purchase.
[X] [SHOPPING] Go to Zhufbar look for a nice rifle.
[X] [SHOPPING] A Marksdwarf Pistol.
(OOC: The lists look pretty goof, rifle is always a good long-range weapon to have in a pinch, and upgrading our Pistol (or getting another one) is always a good idea. @BoneyM, will our Marksdwarf pistol come with mod options (rune options, sights?, etc), or it's solely roll dependent on what we might get on it?)

Speaking of foreign magical traditions it would be I terestingto see if we could get anything from Cathy since we're on the Silk Road.
They're pretty much the most advanced humans in the setting other than the Empire which beats them in industrialization and that's about it.

Well, Bretonnia arguably has much more advanced magic and divine blessings. Along with being a century or more ahead in naval technology.

Dwarves have issues with Gold Fever. At least humans are less likely to have access to weapons capable of damaging his body.

I'm not so sure about that if we're talking a out it in relation to Cathy who have armies of golems and summoned the Maw from space to try to destroy the ogres.

Gold fever is a thing, but so are dwarf holds dripping in golds. It's unclaimed gold that causes them problems.

It's also a rare mental illness usually only seen amongst dwarf miners.

[X] [SPIDER] They are the very definition of 'miscellaneous weirdness' and thus the responsibility of the Court Wizard.

@BoneyM Have we ever been given WOG on whether Thorek or another runesmith will rune guns? We know Kragg will not touch them, but someone newer if less experienced perhaps?

I feel like you handled his diplomacy 18 kinda poorly considering most of this thread thought he was a jerk
I don't agree people's perception was colored by Mathilde biases, most wizard's aren't that friendly so she found him suspicious and didn't trust him because of his high diplomacy.

There was also him hiding things which while sort of understandable still doesn't leave the best impression.
