[X] [SPIDER] They are the very definition of 'miscellaneous weirdness' and thus the responsibility of the Court Wizard.
[X] [KRAGG] Hit When They're Not Looking
[X] Tower of Utter Neutrality - with rune and material and a great deal of care, make your Tower completely magically neutral. Large bonus to studying anything magical, small bonus to studying everything else from higher Magesight contrast. 250gc, 5 Dwarf favours.

So I think we can conclude that Clan Mors has somehow gone traitorous, and Clan Eshin might be the third enemy they face. We need to figure out a way to detect Clan Eshin, though.
I'm doubtful on that particular score, since the Clan Eshin Assassin was watching the guard post with us and that post was facing out while we were inside their lines by my reading.

Nor is Eshin really one to hold territory, or present itself in a way you can make a defensive line against them. Like, its possible, but I'm expecting a fourth Clan, I'm really hoping not Pestilens or its Greenskins or Gribblies.

Updated the Library plan, adding this.
If you are going to be chasing elf books, then elf books on Grey Magic should be on the list. Grey Magic is the most important topic for our library, easily eclipsing powerstones. In fact, looking at our library list I would consider Ulgu, Daemons, Enchantment, Divine Magic, Skaven, and Greenskins all to be more important topics than Powerstones, because they all relate to important topics which are of more immediate relevance. Perhaps Aethyr and High Magic, too; the elves are the premier source on all kinds of magical topics. While "there is a similarity to be drawn between daemon blood and this other kind of solid magic" is an argument to be made for powerstones, daemons is a much more obvious and direct connection to the research roll for the snake; is there some other reason that you want powerstones instead?

Aside from that, if we're dropping gold on swording bonuses we might as well go for the full +5 from Extensive/Esoteric Imperial. It's a nonmagical topic so it doesn't cost us any favor and the later points are no more expensive than the earlier ones in this case.

But before getting further into this...
@BoneyM, do we have any significant ability to source elf books? Is this a "throw it on the list, you'll get a roll for it" or a "don't even bother" circumstance?

Also, we should totally build the superweapon in a few turns. Partly because it is Awesome!, but also because it's likely only to be used as a defensive weapon to aid in further reclamation actions, so being able to present it as an option sooner is better.

Of course...should we be able to research some way to aim the shadow of the mountain, oh who knows what we might be able to do! I really do love a good superweapon.

If I recall correctly we can spend cost-actions on Tower Building if we want to get it all done next turn, so we should keep that in mind if our workload is particularly light. These things are really awesome, and a tower that gives us free actions is a must-have.
Yeah, we can take multiple build actions in a turn if we're willing to pay action costs for the ones after the first. What we can't do is build in two directions at once; we can go up or down but not both, if I understood @BoneyM's rules about it correctly.

I don't have the first idea about the rest but I know I want to keep in touch with the cute spoders.

Does anybody seriously want to build downwards while there's still stuff to make for our towers? Basement rooms don't get bonuses like 'This Mountain is now a fully armed and operational Battlestation'.

I feel like you handled his diplomacy 18 kinda poorly considering most of this thread thought he was a jerk

Based entirely on the secrets he was keeping, rather than any dislike for him as a person. I can't do a diceroll for the thread to determine how much they'll like someone.

None whatsoever.

The other way around. You can build up and you can build down but you can't try to build multiple levels of towers or underground rooms at once.

As Boney has said we can get access to Asur books if we can extend the EIC to Marienburg, one can assume we cannot.

Gilded: Johann's skin from the neck down is made of gold, as are some of his internal organs
Can he use any metal and gold is the best? Just curious if, say, gromil could be used.

Pummeler: Johann has a natural talent for brawling.
Everybody was kung fu fighting...
My new picture of Johann, just with less muscles and more gold:

Who doesn't want to be a punch-wizard? You get to hit people with your fists and sling spells!

Also, we should probably get some spells learned next turn. We want our A-game with the Eshin assassins around.

I know it will never happen, and would probably result in a grudge if we tried to make it happen, but imagine:

Ranger Spider Cavalry.

Show those grobi how it's done right.
Dwarfs like feet on ground.
Halflings might work better but they also hadn't proven themselves inedible yet, and the spiders hadn't been taught social conditioning(if I eat X, Y might kill me)
So looking at this. We want to avoid mixmatching anything and causing problems.

So I would suggest two different towers.
Tower 1: First Floor, Utter Neutrality and Second Floor, Tower Of Oh Dear.

Tower Two: First Floor, Serenity. Second Floor, Dusk and Dawn. Third Floor, Burning Shadow.

To explain. We don't want to mixing the floors that go 'EMERGENCY CONTAINMENT' and 'STERILE LAB DO NOT ENTER' with the floors that require major spell casting being done. Tower 1 would be our 'Lab Tower' where do all the most important and dangerous research, while Tower 2 would be our 'Working Tower' where we defend the hold with Burning Shadow, do papers with Serenity, or conduct rituals, enchantments, spell learning, spell making, or power stone creation with Dawn and Dusk. More so, Dawn and Dusk making the tower a tuning fork with Ulgu should provide a nice bonus to the Tower Of Burning Shadow.

I'd divide it as such:
-Utter Neutrality is where we want Max and any subordinates examining stuff on our order. We can let them use it for personal projects.

-Oh Dear is where we want our subordinates doing more risky experiments and spell learning. If Johann wants to test fire a Jezzail he should do it in here.

-Serenity should be above Utter Neutrality. It makes a good academic working room, Max will be coming through regularly.

-Dusk and Dawn + Burning Shadow is a natural fit. We might want to fit a watchtower with enchanted optics on top as well to know when best to engage the Burning Shadow.

So I'm seeing two towers:
-Tower 1 - Shared for our subordinates use or really where we use them.
-Tower 2 - Grey Wizards only.
You could but I'm not going to give a flat bonus to the library bonuses and nothing else is leaping out at me.
I figure a proper library could make it easier to share access with others without encumbering but we hadn't really had any library policy yet.
Hmm, what about bonuses to protecting the collection from damage or loss?

Also what about an observation point?
Wilhelmina's already helped herself to Zhufbar's selection. She replaced her pistols with revolvers, but she's still got four of them.
Wilhelmina knows enough dakka is a lie.
Potential assignment. I think it's likely a good purchase and there's a strong possibility but it's still only one possibility of many. Belegar may instead assign Mathilde to investigate Greenskins, hunt down Codrin, research Skaven tech, Deal with runesmiths, vampire proof the place, or any number of other tasks.
Still, we got Panoramia's magic mushrooms too, and where theres greenskins theres fungi.

Wouldn't hurt.
Her skill is also what's making this a growing opperation, and she's going to be there for a decade yet I bet. Time enough.
As we learned from Abelhelm.
Change can be very sudden

No, that was Maximilian that had the falling-out with the Dwarves. Johann insinuated himself with the artillery early on and mostly flew under the radar.

[X] [KRAGG] Hit When They're Not Looking

Remember that Kragg used a non-canon rune for the Dhar stuff. I really want to see what the sneaky rune does. Also, this is describing how we wanted to hit people. The whole concept of Mathilde as a fighter has either been magic (that's helped by the belt), or us stabbing (cutting, strangling, we're not picky) people from hiding. It's what we do, and we seem to enjoy it. It's also safer than going '1v1 me, punk' to every massive Orc we meet. Finally, hitting someone straight up is Sigmar-like. Are we not followers of Ranald?

Vote 'Hit When They're Not Looking' and no matter how mighty their strongholds, no matter how deep their tunnels, Mankind's enemies will always fear the words: 'Surprise, Bitch!'

[X] [SPIDER] They are the very definition of 'miscellaneous weirdness' and thus the responsibility of the Court Wizard.

[X] Tower of the Burning Shadow - to your sorrow, Burning Shadows cannot be cast on a mountain. To your delight, there's a way around that. What do you mean we can't have all of the towers at once?
