I hope we can pick up a few new spells this time. Are we plan voting or mass voting this time, post moratorium?

Settle in, your majesty, it's gonna be like this the whole time!
I want to know who the replacement Anton will be. Or if there even needs to be one - If Anton keeps rolling like Anton, he could make guest appearances. Probably pop by for a visit with his new wife, the freshly divorced Everqueen, and a few legions of elves who are looking to make up for the War of the Beard thing by pacifying K8P for the Dawi. Or something else utterly absurd.

Hey, @BoneyM , how good are Johann's sneaking skills, and if they are subpar could we demand that he learn how to sneak from us before we let him go poke at the ratties?

So here's my tentative plan. No voting for four hours!

The overall plan for the We is to have them displace Clan Mors so that the We occupt the lower levels of the Citadel, between us and everything further on. This gives them a solid defensive position at their back (the Citadel) where they can retreat to in times of massive attack, but doesn't let them sneak into anyone's bed and helps eliminate the potential for Clan Mors as a menace. To that end, having Johann investigate Clan Mors (to help lead the clear-out) while Maximillian teaches them Riekspiel. This puts Johann's skaven-investigating skills to good use. Going to go ahead and spend college favor to get a translation item. And finally, shore all this up by investigating the third source of pressure on Clan Mors. Naturally, since this is most dangerous going to use the Coin on it.

The EIC action is a precautionary measure, but I'm willing to blow the action to prevent a Grudge down the line.

I am in favor of an open Temple to Ranald; a gambling hall and bar hopefully, and I don't want to wait on it any longer.

Finally, we've been waiting forever on the Snake Blood. Time for research!

Now, I know some want to train the Greatsword, but we're at 1/3 on Advanced training and it'll be 3 turns before we get our sword. That means we can spend this Turn cozying up to Gunnar to get in his good books and then ask for training next turn.

[] Turn 20 Down with Clan Mors
-[ ] [Max] Current Task: Have Maximillian teach the We written Reikspiel.
-[ ] [Johann] Allow him to spend all his time investigating Clan Mors.
-[ ] [EIC] Instil corporate policy: always be scrupulously honest when dealing with Dwarves.
-[ ] Request the translation item yourself (does not cost an action; converts 3 College Favour to Dwarf Favour).
-[ ] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
-[ ] You have acquired the possession of the Temple where Ranald mugged Mork. Set up a shrine and spread knowledge of it throughout Karag Nar.
-[ ] Travel through the Underway into Karag Yar, to investigate the third source of pressure on Clan Mors.
--[] Ranald's Coin - The Gambler on this one.
-[ ] Investigate the constantly-dripping blood of the Wisdom's Asp. Current accumulation: 12 gallons.
-[ ] [PENT] Have additional rooms excavated underneath your Penthouse: -50gc for 2 rooms.
-[ ] [SOC] Spend time assisting with a fellow councillor's task: Help Gunnar with Tomb Construction
-[ ] [COIN] The Gambler: Investigate Pressure on Clan Mors

[ ] Teach the We written Khazalid.
[ ] Teach the We written Reikspiel.
[ ] Teach the We Dwarven semaphore.
Hmm, as tempting as pushing this off on max is and calling the written reikspiel good enough is, i feel like if we're going for a military alliance we should go for the dwarven semaphore option, especially since 1. we already know that mathilde is good at talking with the spiders, and having a misunderstanding encoded into their understanding of reikspiel would be potentially disastrous and 2. belegar seems a little skeptical that this feasible, so having multiple communication methods, especially a dwarven military one, seems important to me

EIC must be taught dwarven ways of making business, or a massively profitable success with even greater potential will turn into a disaster.

...Truth to be told, EIC section is an actionslot vampire, with a bunch of potentially time sensitive stuff.

If we are investigating the spiders, I'd rather investigate potential usage of their webs first. If we are planning on letting spiders stay and farm their venom, webs and whatever else should they prove their worth against skavens, they probably better be near industrial/trade sector.

SneckJuice action burns at my soul, even if I feel that there is a bunch of more important stuff to be done.

"Dispel skaven warmachines" action could be potentially hilarious, but maybe not now, when we are in a full time crunch mode.

While this turn's EIC pick is something of a no-brainer, I think it deserves to be pointed out that K8P is still going to want guns in the future, and buying from humans was explicitly considered.

Hiring out Dwarven expertise to upgrade the product to something they'd be happy buying is likely to pay dividends.

On the other hand, having taught the EIC the proper way to work with Dwarves, we might want them taking over the supply lines asap - because otherwise whoever gets in first is, uh, not likely to be as careful in their dealings.

It still seems a bit odd, since that greatsword captain would certainly have been an expert in using a regular one handed sword as well. Even if there was no better choice or option at the time, it seems strange that we've just stuck with it since then, instead of finding a weapon/instructor better suited to us.
It is extremely odd. But ultimately, we make it work. When you're invisible/illusioned, the fact your sword is big and obvious doesn't matter. When your strength is increased by magic, it's impressive weight is irrelevant.

Ultimately the only problem it has that isn't easily overcome at this point is that it needs room to swing, which is much more of a problem in K8P than it was when facing the undead.

[ ] Plan Preliminary
[ ] [MAXIMILIAN] Current Task: Teach the We written Reikspiel.
[ ] [JOHANN] Allow him to spend all his time investigating Clan Skryre.
[ ] Spend time assisting with a fellow councillor's task: specify who and how.
-[ ] Assist Gunnar with burial rites for Humans
[ ] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
[ ] Deliver King Belegar's request to the College for a translation item (does not cost an action).
[ ] You have acquired the possession of the Temple where Ranald mugged Mork. Set up a shrine and spread knowledge of it throughout Karag Nar.
[ ] Investigate the constantly-dripping blood of the Wisdom's Asp. Current accumulation: 12 gallons.
[ ] [EIC] Instil corporate policy: always be scrupulously honest when dealing with Dwarves.
[ ] Wolf is now fully grown, and is a very large dog or a regular-sized wolf. Train him. (increases his intelligence, may deepen Familiar bond)
[ ] The Gambler: specify an action this will apply to.
-[ ] Investigate the constantly-dripping blood of the Wisdom's Asp. Current accumulation: 12 gallons.
[ ] [TOWER] Have a tower built atop Karag Nar: -100gc for 1 room, bonus to room's purpose.
-Dwarven Magically Grounded Lab (5 favors)

So this is a very preliminary plan I threw together on my lunch break. Feel free to point out if I got anything wrong!

Thoughts on your plans:

Journeymen:

MAXIMILLIAN: Yep, communication IS the first step we need to take. Teaching the We written Reikspiel is probably a matter of urgency.
JOHANN: Why Clan Skyre? Why not Clan Mors, who are currently beneath the citadel, especially when you have this:

[ ] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.

By allowing Johann to investigate clan Mors under the Citadel, while we ourselves are helping the We establish their new nest under the Citadel, we should be able to synergize both actions and keep an eye on Johann's activities easier. Also, I get the feeling that Clan Mors is one of the potential next targets in the Karak Eight Peak reconquest since the Under-Citadel is still a source of vulnerability.

EIC

[ ] [EIC] Instil corporate policy: always be scrupulously honest when dealing with Dwarves.

This is an urgent must. No questions about that.

Personal Actions

These are five actions right?

[ ] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
[ ] Deliver King Belegar's request to the College for a translation item (does not cost an action).

Two necessary actions related to our job. No objections here, and the sooner we can get the spiders under the Citadel, the sooner we have a buffer and early warning system between us and Clan Mors.

[ ] You have acquired the possession of the Temple where Ranald mugged Mork. Set up a shrine and spread knowledge of it throughout Karag Nar.

This is probably semi-urgent, so we should get this out of the way and fulfill our obligations to Ranald.

[ ] Spend time assisting with a fellow councillor's task: specify who and how.
-[ ] Assist Gunnar with burial rites for Humans

If Ranald is our Father, and Shallya is our mother, does that make Morr the Grandfather? We did add extensive write text to our library right? Giving Gunnar access to our Morite book collection might be a good idea, and I'm all for building bridges with Gunnar.

[ ] Investigate the constantly-dripping blood of the Wisdom's Asp. Current accumulation: 12 gallons.

A perfect test run for the capabilities of our infrastructure right now, and a task the thread has waited a long time to do.

Yup, all five personal actions seems sensible to me.

Personal Relations

[ ] Wolf is now fully grown, and is a very large dog or a regular-sized wolf. Train him. (increases his intelligence, may deepen Familiar bond)

It's about time, and I agree with the calls that we've neglected Wolf long enough. If he is a gift from Ranald after all, it wouldn't do to not pay some extra attention to this gift.

Penthouse

[ ] [TOWER] Have a tower built atop Karag Nar: -100gc for 1 room, bonus to room's purpose.
-Dwarven Magically Grounded Lab (5 favors)

There are some who might want the secure library up first, so you'd have to make case for why we need the lab first. I'd say if the books aren't coming in immediately, we probably should start with the lab.

Conclusion: I really like this plan: my only quibble is why Johann should target Clan Skyre first. What is your reasoning?

The overall plan for the We is to have them displace Clan Mors so that the We occupt the lower levels of the Citadel, between us and everything further on. What "skaven-investigating skills"?

Also, putting the We BETWEEN us and the enemy defeats the purpose of Mathilde's proposal.

So we could just point them at one or the other and call it a day, but if we guaranteed a safe defensive position, the Skaven would not be able to find the nest and would suffer effectively permanent attrition."
That's just gonna result in them being attacked and wiped out. I'm not gonna shed tears, but you may as well just send them off, not waste actions.

Yes, the elite troops of the Empire use greatswords, but they use them in open battle, typically in fields in wide open spaces.

They may not be "anywhere near as unwieldy as some people think", but that still leaves them as unwieldy weapons. While you can halfsword and do other stuff with them, there are still good reasons why they aren't used by rangers, light infantry, organised criminals, and others.

They are simply a poor choice of weapon for someone in our field. The fact that they may be used by elite soldiers of the empire under very different circumstances simply doesn't change the fact they just aren't good weapons for someone like us.
It still seems a bit odd, since that greatsword captain would certainly have been an expert in using a regular one handed sword as well. Even if there was no better choice or option at the time, it seems strange that we've just stuck with it since then, instead of finding a weapon/instructor better suited to us.
I totally agree that its weird and awkward. I wanted to learn to use a dagger or something like that. But sadly I seem to be in the minority there.

Soo, can we throw a bunch of dwarven favour at a magically neutral reearch lab tower this turn?

It looks like justbthe thing for snakejuice

So. my thoughts:
Max:
[ ] Current Task: Teach the We written Reikspiel.
I want to have two attempts at teaching spiders to communicate - Max's Reikspiel and our own semaphor
Johann:
[ ] Current Task: Have Johann investigate the properties of the spiders' webs.
Johann has a lot of material science-related spells
EIC:
[ ] Instill corporate policy: always be scrupulously honest when dealing with Dwarves.
That's basically a prerequisite to any dealings with dwarves

Personal:
[FREE][ ] Deliver King Belegar's request to the College for a translation item (does not cost an action).
No reason not to do it.
[1][ ] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
Central position, easiest to raid Skaven in any direction
[2][ ] Teach the We Dwarven semaphore.
Good and safe communication method - Skaven and Greenskins are unlikely to know it and thus will be unable to subvert We.
[3][ ] Ask an acquaintance to train you in a skill: specify who and what.
-[ ] Gunnars, greatsword
I don't know if we are close eonough, though. @BoneyM, does Gunnars count as an acquaintance for this? Will he count as an acquaintance if we help him this turn?
[4][ ] You have acquired the possession of the Temple where Ranald mugged Mork. Set up a shrine and spread knowledge of it throughout Karag Nar.
We delayed this long enough

Penthouse:
[FREE][ ] Have a tower built atop Karag Nar: -100gc for 1 room, bonus to room's purpose.
-[] Laboratory
We need personal lab for Juice research, we only made a lab for Journeymen thus far

Personal Relations:
[FREE][ ] Spend time assisting with a fellow councillor's task: specify who and how.
-[] Gunnars, Morrite Lore
Let's be friends and sword-buddies

Coin:
Gambler, on "establish nest" action

I am not married to Gunnars action expenditure, his social can be ditched for Wolf and his training for scouting/research/whatever.

With all the talk on runes and magic, runesmiths and wizards, it's a shame that the Colleges and Runsmiths Guild won't establish formal cooperation. They could learn much together and create incredible things.

I think it's about time we spend some time with Wolf.

Journeyman Maximilian de Gaynesford, Gold Wizard
[ ] Allow him to spend all his time on his metalworking studies.
[ ] Current Task: Have Maximilian investigate the properties of the spiders' webs.
[ ] Current Task: Teach the We written Reikspiel.
Having been reasonably successful on the venom I'm tempted to let Max work on his own studies this turn. But then again, I also don't want to establish a sort of one off one on pattern.

Magister Johann, Gold Wizard
[ ] Current Task: Teach the We written Reikspiel.
Before we turn Johann loose on his own projects I want us to see how he actually performs on a job. Then next turn let him go after Skaven, maybe at the same time as we do some more scouting?

The Eastern Imperial Company
[ ] Instil corporate policy: long-term financial good of the Empire.
[ ] Instil corporate policy: always be scrupulously honest when dealing with Dwarves.
While I understand why the dwarven policy might be tempting, seeing as we're just now expanding into K8P, I think the Empire one is actually more important seeing as the vast majority of the company are still located there.

Current Task: Investigate the Chiselwards spiders.
[ ] Teach the We written Khazalid.
[ ] Teach the We Dwarven semaphore.
[ ] Deliver King Belegar's request to the College for a translation item (does not cost an action).
[ ] Request the translation item yourself (does not cost an action; converts 3 College Favour to Dwarf Favour).
[ ] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
[ ] Help the We establish their new nest below Karag Lhune.
[ ] Help the We establish their new nest below Karag Nar.

I'd like to actually do two actions here, one to teach the We either Khazalid or Dwarven semaphore. Khazalid would be a backup in case teaching them Reikspiel fails, but I think Dwarven semaphore is better overall as it covers ranged, and importantly relatively silent, communication. Very good for setting up future ambushes on skaven. Then I'd like to help establish their new nest, not sure where though. Anyone have any arguments for the various locations, Citadel seems best from a pure strategic standpoint but it would also seem to put the We in the most danger; which might see them simply bugging out for greener pastures if things get dicey for them.

[ ] Have a tower built atop Karag Nar: -100gc for 1 room, bonus to room's purpose.
Setting up the Lab.

Personal Relations: each turn, you get ONE free choice in this category. Additional selections cost actions.
[ ] Wolf is now fully grown, and is a very large dog or a regular-sized wolf. Train him. (increases his intelligence, may deepen Familiar bond)
Who's a good boy? You are! Yes, you are!

Tentatively, my plan would be:

[] Plan Talk to me Baby (Spider)
-[][JOHANN] Current Task: Have Johann investigate the properties of the spiders' webs.
-[][MAX] Current Task: Teach the We written Reikspiel.
-[][EIC] Instil corporate policy: long-term financial good of the Empire.
-[] Teach the We Dwarven semaphore.
-[] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
-[] Request the translation item yourself (does not cost an action; converts 3 College Favour to Dwarf Favour).
-[] You have acquired the possession of the Temple where Ranald mugged Mork. Set up a shrine and spread knowledge of it throughout Karag Nar.
-[] Investigate the constantly-dripping blood of the Wisdom's Asp. Current accumulation: 12 gallons.
-[] Have a tower built atop Karag Nar: -100gc for 1 room, bonus to room's purpose.
-[] Wolf is now fully grown, and is a very large dog or a regular-sized wolf. Train him. (increases his intelligence, may deepen Familiar bond)

Edit: as pointed out by @LockedMind Johann has Breach the Unknown which would be better sutied to figuring out the webs. Additionally Max has Law of Logic which gives him better odds for teaching Reikspiel, so those two are now switched.

Not sure yet on Coin face or placement.

Now I have this image of him accidentally making it something other than a sword despite setting out fully aware its meant to be a sword.
A sword yes, I know a sword shape. But it could certainly be improved, by adding just a bit extra mass at the end, to make it easier to get through armor. And of course, a skilled user will make use of the length and strike only with the end, for maximum range advantage, so the handle can be expanded upwards. Wait. Isn't this now an axe?

The We should definitely go under the citadel, that way they can attack any enemy without "overhunting" them.
I would also like to devote an action to study their silk, hoping for improved robes and a new specialty good for trade.
Obviously want the blood, and it would probably be better to take care of the shrine now, make it public so we know when the criminal element begins to form.

Guys, you who vote for the Citadel seem to be missing the point of putting them in a defensible area. The Under-Citadel is most definitely not that.

Blacksmiths, not Runesmiths. It's not Thorek.
As an aside now it looks that researching Wisdom's Asp Blood is likely to win this turn, how do we arrange votes so we can utilize this option?
Or have an expert collaborate on an enchantment project with her?
Would need to be arranged personally with the expert, but your rep would get you an introduction and their ear.
As getting a Runelord like Thorek involved, even if it's just his undoubtedly incredible knowledge overall of materials that dwarves have used in the past could be very beneficial given the descriptions of how runecrafted items have been made in the books. Pessimistically even a little advice from someone like him could be valuable, and optimistically help investigating it or determining what it is even more so particularly if he brings some of his own specialized equipment.
