Tempted by the idea of having the colleges found/fund and recruit members for a big knightly order we would command. It's selfish in the sense that it's ours while still being something that we can point at problems we like to solve (nexus reclamation, hell war, etc). We could even make it Ranaldian themed! My only hesitation is that we already run the EIC spy network, WEB-MAT, and a gigantic library so adding another organization we have to manage could get old.

Still think it'd be a lot of fun to sick a knightly order on our enemies though.

In political terms, I think we can go for broad political support for Mandred as next Emperor. I'm not personally attracted but it would be a cool move.

Mathilde: "Can you give me a moment, i got so exited about seeing all your faces when you open the boxes that i forgot to think about the other part."
Algard: "Yeah, that sounds about right."

We should get a sub or two so we can go on an extended vacation with Panoramia. Elftrip, Brettonia, Marienburg, Kislev, maybe Araby to really flex the silks...

Mathilde has always been able to take a vacation, she just doesn't because it's not in her nature/the interests of the thread.

There's a difference between "they would love" (though even that is not a given, a lot of wizards, I imagine, would not want to rock the boat that much) and "they would start persuading people in power tomorrow in a coordinated manner".

If they could do that they would. It is hard to describe how much the Colleges would benefit from a wizard emperor, and how much some of the other movers and shakers of the Empire would hate the precedent.

Once Eike starts her journey, it would be fun to go on a vacation with Panoramia. Maybe check out Ind and Cathay? We live at one end of the silk road, and it would be neat to see what's on the other end.

Could we get a cataclysm spells enchanted into our robes? I don't even know if that's a thing that is possible, or a wise idea. But like if we're going for broke on the robes idea, getting a cataclysm level spell enchanted into your gear seems like the pinnacle. It's also something we definitely couldn't get without a college boon like this.

Also, would an airship be an airship or a blimp?

Cataclysm spells are the sort of stuff you would need orb of sorcery for to cast without storm of magic, so no.

You'd need to specify a spell before we could even begin talking about how possible it would be, but if it is possible, it'd be very unlikely to be permanent and would probably have a long or inconvenient recharge cycle.

Also, would an airship be an airship or a blimp?

Either would be possible.

We can make our own robes once silk becomes available in quality we are happy with.
Dragons are sapient creatures and take a loong time to grow up. (would be interesting, but we are not ready for motherhood)

Flying ship (not a blimp, a ship enchanted to fly) or a tower might be fun.

[] collage/battle wizard support for the reclamation of lost nexuses.

Unleashing the battle wizards on Sylvania completely changed the face of that campaign. Imagine doing the same on the forests of shadows and gloom. The big reason we haven't touched those yet is because we need an army, and, well, there's an army right here.

Persuade the Emperor into making another proclamation unleashing the battle wizards upon the forest of shadows, and chaos won't know what hit it.

... A flying tower would also be cool.

Okay, I got it. I got it. Here's the request that could use all eight college. Windherding. Proper windherding with the backing of all the winds of magic, not just whomever Mathilda can scrape together in a given six months.

A large, audacious wind herding project to create something of magic that only all eight winds working together can create. And I'm going to tell you what it is.

You know the staff of the Supreme Patriarch? The one that gives an insane power boost?

[ ] Windherding project to recreate as much as possible the Staff of the Supreme Parriarch

Maybe the copy won't be as good as the original, but think of it. We did the Orbs, we did I the Liminal Realm. This is the last great symbol of the Colleges that human hands have not been able to recreate. Until now.

And people can't claim there's an invisible deadline if we've got the colleges providing proper fill-ins.

The problem isn't people claiming anything I think, it's the idea that we would be spending multiple full APs on an extended social action, though I guess if you could convince the thread to burn a one of a kind boon on this it stands to reason that the plan including that would also win a majority. I do not think the voters are there for either though.

fuck it.
[] Having done it and done it well was its own reward.
-[] Or, as Algard once said, the reward was we got to quite literally slit open reality's underside and meddle with the steaming guts that spill forth.

My personal fantasy of ripping off a layer of cloth to reveal the entire set in front of a gaping audience didn't occur, Mathilde sure went for a deliberately casual understated approach, but hey it isn't everyday the greatest wizards in the Empire collectively boggle at your accomplishments. Hoping to feel more of the ripples in subsequent turns as the wider College scene reacts to the Book and the Orbs. We go to our next Waystones meeting and all the Empire are staring at us and the others are confused.

Not sure if anyone knows the time-frame of the investigations, but holy shit if Algard processes that this motherfucker has been sitting on Aethyric Vitae for almost two decades on top of everything else she has done. Because I've been iffy about that previously, even if it's perfectly kosher in this particular academic culture, I wonder if a continual stream of papers being widely released so others could play with it would've been better in other ways.

As for rewards, I'd need to see one helluva Collective Prize to consider voting for it, because a lot of what I've seen don't hold much interest. Like a skyship seems like a total waste that doesn't provide anything I want at all when we already have a Home that I love, we have a sick gyrocarriage and hired a wizard buddy to pilot it. What do you get for the girl who has everything?
The reputation effect of the Orbs, Liminal Realm, AV and Book is going to be huge. Mathilde has shaken the foundations of the Colleges.

If Algard learned how long Mathilde sat on this he'd likely assume it just took her that long to learn about it and it was a side project she didn't expect a lot of results out of.

If it was a collective boon the effects would be huge.

Fun scene. I like how all the wizards were instantly distracted with pondering their orbs.
The instant transition to nerd mode was great.

Windherding enchantments is an art very much in its infancy. If you want what is made to be worth anywhere near what you're paying for it, stick with a single College per enchantment.
Windherding if progressed further could be something Mathilde could teach to others and use as a way to make a reputation for herself as well.

That would be an insanely ambitious Windherding Enchantment project that would make Windherding into a proper acknowledge art.

With all the daring projects Mathilde has been doing all this time, spinning the rep gains and favors into support for more daring projects, I'm very much in the mood for an utterly personal, self-indulgent reward. Something that would benefit Mathilde first and foremost, and be about Mathilde, rather than about whatever she's doing at the moment. A proper flying base would be perfect in this regard. Possibly with persistent fog clinging on to it and obscuring its features... the coolness factor alone!
