Tightening the bonds between Eonir and the Empire before Nordland starts troublle is time sensitive yes.Is it particularly urgent? It's important, but I don't think it's time-sensitive.

Do we actually need the Road? Based on the calculations @mathymancer made, and the fact that Eike already found a route that is profitable, I'm not sure that there is any need for the Fog Road.
The charcoal trade is already reaching Laurelorn. It's not profitable for the EIC, but for the purpose of building economic links, it's already there.Tightening the bonds between Eonir and the Empire before Nordland starts troublle is time sensitive yes.
It would make fair more sense to assign Eike to extract more information from the ratmen prisoner we already have. She might actually be able to get the advanced languages out of him.Two problems with the idea:
- We did it with the aid of an actual god via his no-kidding divine artifact of lying
- We also found one who could speak Khazalid, hers likely would not be so at the very least she would have to learn Queekish

I meant Middenland traders. We can do our trades but Middenlander traders are waiting the road which Eonir didn't want to build so we are about to provide. No cuz that is just silly.A Silly idea just popped into my head: could we send Eike along with a We Patrol to find some Greenskins or such? An errant patrol of Orks or Gobolins with Spider support seems a reasonable risk level.

So I think it's just a shooting gallery without opportunity for her to do much more than practice her Pistols skill, alas.Following this takes you underneath Karagril to the Karak's final actively hostile frontier: the entrance to the Underway to Karak Drazh. Though the greenskins would be quite capable of learning that charging into a solid wall of ballistas, grapecannon and handguns won't get them anywhere, they've instead elected to use it as a sort of population control, and on a regular basis the losers of the Red Fang tribe's internal politics are forced to charge down the underground gauntlet. It's quite clever if you follow the internal logic of the greenskins: their fungal ecology means there'll be a constant stream of new Goblins and Orcs whether there's room for them or not, so by forcing their rivals to charge down the gauntlet at regular intervals the tribe becomes no weaker, the position of the winning individuals becomes stronger, and the Dwarves are forced to pay a constant tax in ammunition, gunpowder, and attention. Unbeknownst to them, the predations of the We alter the economics of the situation, as once Karag Nar's weavers figure out how to convert the We's silk into bolts and garments, the presence of neighbouring greenskins will more than pay for the defences that must be arrayed against them.
Getting information on what Nordland's likely to do next is as important as forging a new economic link for Middenland. They're both attacking the problem, just from different angles. The infiltration option has the side-benefit of being useful for testing and improving Eike's currently-unknown intrigue as well, though.I meant Middenland traders. RoW is not just for our own use after all.

...actually, hold on a second. Maybe we could ask King Kazador to include her on a patrol? We introduced her to the Dwarves of Karak Azul back when she came to K8P and she made a good impression, IIRC. And that boy's Throng are experts at Greenskin-hunting. And Kazador likes us and loves killing Greenskins, so even though we have no right to dictate that she join Rangers in their scouting, he will probably be down with "hey, my Apprentice needs to get better at hunting Greenskins and I decided to take her to the expert." It would also give her Khazalid practice.
Boney, when you have a chance, would something like that be an OK Eike Study action?
Something we can take Eike along with is Scouting training. Ask some dwarven rangers for the training, take Eike along with us, and have her meet some orcs and/or goblins under controlled conditions. Edit: We knew a ranger from Belegar's council, right?
In addition to what others said about making trade with Middenland in particular possible, charcoal isn't the only thing the Eonir may want to trade for. Thorek wants to sell them ingots, and a road from Middenheim will make that a lot easier.Do we actually need the Road? "You'd ship ore by road?"
"What Dwarf worth their beard would export ore to Elves? No, ingots. It's easy enough to get them from Karak Kadrin and the Young Holds to Middenheim, but there's no overland route that would service.
A Silly idea just popped into my head: could we send Eike along with a We Patrol to find some Greenskins or such? An errant patrol of Orks or Gobolins with Spider support seems a reasonable risk level.
I for one think it's silly not to want to have Eike ride a giant spider into battle. What kind of negligent master would we be to deny her such a thing?
We have a few years. It makes the most sense to assign Eike to actions where we think she will be useful.A Silly idea just popped into my head: could we send Eike along with a We Patrol to find some Greenskins or such? I also had an idea (and boney approved it) to go scouting for beastmen with Eike to train scouting, find out her intrigue score and blood her.Something we can take Eike along with is Scouting training. Ask some dwarven rangers for the training, take Eike along with us, and have her meet some orcs and/or goblins under controlled conditions. Edit: We knew a ranger from Belegar's council, right?
Edit 2: Looks like I got this a minute too late... Anyways, my idea here was to take Eike along on a "[ ] Receive training" action, basically, which isn't quite the same as Pickle's suggestion above.
I do not think we want the Shayllan's first combat action to be against humans, which seems likely with Marianburg and possible with Stirland.
These are all fair points, but at the same time she has never killed anyone, given what we know of her faith it is probably worth making sure the first person she does kill is not some random bandit working for coin, it's not as though it costs us anything to be careful here, as you said yourself there are always beastmen.
I'm not against Eike fighting non human enemies first in an attempt to get combat jitters out of her before hitting her with human opponentsAs boney has pointed out (to me as it happens, I had the same thought) the Colleges are more accommodating of faith than that, seeing as it is the thing that helps them not fall to Chaos and the like. If Eike wants to never directly take a human life the College can find work for her where she does not have to do that*.
*or at least where she is unlikely to.
I still think that the best way to train Mathilde's scouting is to do some actions that are likely to require scouting, such as the Forest of Shadows nexus action and the Iron Orcs investigation. So Mathilde should get that last skill point in Scouting as soon as a Father turn is possible, which should happen *checks notes* at turn 44 at the earliest. So yeah, any day now!
Woa, that's an awesome idea. Utilizing our connections, knowledge and reach to find a task that would challenge our apprentice in all the right ways sounds like exactly our job as her master. Killing greenskins, check. Working together with non-humans, check. Being sneaky, check. (The need to make no sounds will probably make this a good break from the stress of this turn, while introducing entirely another kind - it's good to vary stressors sometimes!)...actually, hold on a second. Anyway, talking about Eike @Boney would it be possible to bring Eike along to the Elfication when we do it?
Which I would think is still beneficial for her as that is a mixture of various cultures plus the closest the high elves most people get.She could bring her along and may or may not be able to talk her way into Eike being counted as carry-on baggage, and if she failed she'd have to leave her in the Foreign Quarter at Lothern.
