Are we really going to not complete the AV book for the sake of 1 AP? Liminal Realms are cool! It's been a while, but I remember from before the break that this action was effectively going to be how to make creating one with AV safer, to prevent exactly the sort of thing that occurred when we tried to make an AV powerstone from happening again. It would be downright irresponsible not to do that research and to release the book without that information.

We're so close to slam-dunking the greatest book of our career perfectly! Don't trip up at the end!

[] Plan Codifying and Swords
I'd vote for this.

-[] Waystone: Leyline Prototype (River) (Sarvoi, Cadaeth, Baba Niedzwenka, Tochter, Aksel, Zlata)
I love that one, but I'd put Elrisse on it instead of Aksel. She's the Nehekharan specialist after all, and it's them who probably used a river as leyline. You could put Aksel on the spirit tributary and add Zlata on it, given that she knows the language used for the ritual.

More money is not useful for us
More money is always good, you never know when you might need it.

Completing the AV book will also require Morbing, and since that will happen at turn 43 at the earliest (since our Room of Utter Calamity is out of commission until then) we have two more turns in which we can do the liminal realm study before we start writing the book.

Oh sure, that's not a problem. But people are talking about just skipping the action entirely, which I'd be very Not Okay with.

Yeah there is always people like that. I remember arguing rather whemently because some people didn't want to codify RoW because it was useless(!) somehow since nobody else could cast as often as Mathilde.

IT was actually how I came up with the idea of RoW bridge. and I am very proud of that lol. Since enchanted spells don't go wrong. I mean a battle altar that is carried by the army and allowed it to move fast would be another use of it.

@Boney's been on a roll lately. Love the updates. Thank you for all the hard work ❤️

Unfortunately I won't be able to participate in the discussion. Just landed in London and I'm gonna be busy acclimating for a bit. Hope I can at least join in the voting phase.

You say '1 AP' like that isn't an immensely valuable thing. Name the last turn where we didn't fight over every last 'spare' AP.

More money is always good, you never know when you might need it.
Not once in this quest have we been in the position of needing more money than we have to do something we needed to do. Multiple times during this quest we have been in the position of having too much money and needing a legal loophole to dump it through.

when we try to map Badlands
According to Thorek - whose hold borders the Badlands - there probably isn't much to map:
"Are there places where the Waystone network has been completely eliminated?" Sarvoi asks.

One possibility occurs immediately. "Sylvania, I suspect," you say. "The Von Carsteins and their pretenders knew to target Waystones, and the nexus for most of them would have been Mordheim."

"The Badlands," Thorek says shortly.
Even if there does turn out to be something there, we know for a fact that it doesn't connect to the Empire's network because the place it would connect through is the Border Princes, and there are no leylines going out from the Border Princes towards the Badlands. Maybe we'll end up mapping that region anyway, but I think it's a very low priority so it's not a good argument for getting cash in a hurry.

No one's saying AP isn't valuable, but the idea that we'd do a shoddy job of something that we've already invested a great deal of time into and have been actively looking forward to is absurd. Doubly so when the thing we'd be cutting corners on is the "how to not get in close contact with Chaos" bit. AV's an extremely hard to get substance, but if anyone ever does get it, this'll be the reference they use.

I suspect that Boney deliberately doesn't bother dangling options that are out of our price range in front of us. More money means we get to see those options in the first place. Also, this very turn we chose to only do a partial purchase of Bretonnian books because we were worried about funding.

I doubt we'll do it this turn, but I am 100% all for doing the Ithilmar purchase, for reasons I argued about before and during the break. The arguments against it militarily-speaking just don't hold water, and publicity-wise I'd argue that highlighting the Eonir as very rich trading partners outweighs highlighting their existence to people who are already aware of and annoyed by them.

I want to do Kislev, because I think that we can persuade Boris to lay out cash to hire southern mercs to protect the areas it's being done in.

Sell the empire on the idea of having the mercs 'prepositioned' for the next everchosen at Kislev's expense, and out of the hands of ulrican factions.
Problem with that is that Boris isn't Tsar yet.

He probably doesn't control the purse strings.

Shade Walkers make really good assassins, they just mostly target Druchi. I'm pretty sure the White Tower could commandeer one if they felt it would be the best way to keep humans and misguided colonials from blowing up the world. To be clear this is a worst case scenario, I do not expet this to happen, I just think that it could.
I'm pretty sure Boney has previously said outright that Shadow Warriors aren't assassins, and the High Elves don't have assassins.

Alith Anar could probably assassinate someone, but the Phoenix King doesn't exactly have him on speed dial.

Also, Shadow Warriors are very, very bad at not being obvious that they killed somebody.

We can't really do the Liminal Realm research this turn, that should be done in the Calamity room which is very much not an option right now because of the AV powerstone incident. It'll be two turns before we can use that room safely again, and we do not want to fuck with Liminal Realms outside of it.

A few posts below you'll see that I was talking about people wanting to skip the action entirely, not complaining about not doing it this turn.

[] EGRIMM: Attempt a Windherder enchantment with Egrimm (?????????)
It'd be fun to make something that creates a brilliant light and *also* casts burning shadows on all the shadows it creates. Lots of candidates for 'spell that produces light' in Hysh after all. But if Gazul has ruined us for other shadowy death combos that's understandable.

As for plans... good to see codifying is popular. Double sword admittedly is really tempting just to finally finish it. I agree with what some other people have said, we should wait for a Father turn to do the damsel action. We have plenty of other things to handle.

Honestly, doing it in the same room feels like a poor decision. Don't want to strain the walls of reality *too* much after all. Just because the room is usable again doesn't mean we want to punch a hole in the walls again. I'm pretty sure Boney has said Mathilde would be willing to just go do it out where nobody could get hurt by it, but it's admittedly been a while since the discussion after the incident.

I would like to propose that we only do one of the main Waystone research actions this turn and create two tributaries. One in the empire and one in Kislev. This seems to me like a really good way to earn goodwill and prevent negative perception.
Imo positive outside attention will do more for the project in the long run than being a step or two further ahead with the theory right now.

We can't actually create tributaries in Kislev this turn, we can share the knowledge of how to create tributaries.

Has anyone tried much to reach out to Games Workshop and ask if they want to take a look at this quest? If I was a marketing executive there, then something of this quality would be VERY INTERESTING, indeed.

Does anyone have more information, or do we have specific preference from Boney etc. that such a thing must not be allowed?

As long as you don't profit off their work, they don't care. They'd be interested in poaching Boney if he was an animator to make his work exclusive to Warhammer+, but as far as I know they don't care about writers. You can just ask the former writers in GW how much they got paid for an example.

I feel like asking GW to look at the quest would be a fast way to get copyright allegations, the quest getting deleted to avoid legal disputes and then shoddy knockoffs of characters in the quest popping up.

Only thing Games Workshop is interested about fan works is stopping them so please don't do anything like that.

Infact "What if Emperor Had Text to Speech Device" over on youtube which was similiarly popular died that way. Now since this is nonprofit it might not share same fate but why tempt Murphy.

tilts head in confusion

What sort of benefits are you imagining for this quest/Boney/the playerbsase from such a thing?
----
Anyway, to those that are feeling the EIC charcoal more than the EIC Nordland networking option this turn, it is a case of 'Charcoal option is better this turn because stronger trade links' or is more 'EIC Nordland expansion is not a fantastic idea in its own right'?

'cuz while I think creating of trade links is best done asap, I admit I would really like an EIC presence in Nordland.

Please do not get my favourite quest killed. Thank you.
