I think the Kislev network kind of has to be expanding the winds (and the Dhar?) in some way, because magic is added from the poles to the system and unlike other networks it isn't sending that magic forward.

Natural Wind flow in that part of the world is from the northern polar gate to the south and possibly east to west, towards the Great Vortex.

Seeing that parts of the Kislev ice loop involve west-to-east transit and south to north, it is possible that some of the extra energy coming into the system is burned up in those parts of the cycle.

If I have my notes right, I believe Walther Kupfer could be classified as a master saboteur, Kurtis Krammovitch as a master of espionage, Lady Magister Grey as a master of stealth and magic combat, Melkoth as a master of Battle Magic, Wilhelmine Bucht as a master of dismantling economic malpractice, and Algard as a master enchanter.

In case we want to take lessons from any of them. Reiner Starke might be the most mysterious of them because his skillset and achievements were kept secret. He's probably very good at security.

Zip Code means widespread destruction, since Zip Code typically refers to settlements and areas you send post to, so levelling an entire zip code means basically destroying something with an area of town or such.
Thanks🙂 i thought zip code was the level attributed to something, and Grey levelling that made no sense😅

[X] Locals
I've been reading Patrons of the Empire 2 (a short WFRP 4 brochure about potential questgivers for the characters) and found an interesting Grey College character in there: Wilhelm von Vaulk. He was a talented Battle Wizard with an investigative bend. He was often attached to various units of the Empire army and on one of those occasions he identified the pass they were going to go through as an ambush site, but the officer in charge still ordered to march through it. In the resulting battle Wilhelm had to fight against several Orc shamans. He won, but became a Null as a result (which is a new trait for WFRP but probably well-known to 40k fans) and paralyzed from the waist down. Now he teaches theory of magic, warfare and history at the University of Altdorf and seeks the means to reverse his condition.

I wonder whether or not he exists in DL and whether or not his fate was different here - maybe Mathilde's Waagh works changed the result of his fateful confrontation? It was couple of decades ago in the WFRP, but DL also is couple of decades ago relative to main Warhammer timeline.

Maybe the Fire Spire missing its top two floors is also messing things up, so the Dhar built up over the last two hundred years isn't dissipating as quickly as it should.
I don't imagine the network has anything to do with the Fire Spire.

The Fire Spire was put up… at some indeterminate point but almost certainly centuries after the Ice Witches converted the local network, and the people who worked out of the Fire Spire certainly weren't working with the Ice Witches in general.

I've just caught up on all the discussion and while its been raised before that picking Cython gains us its own knowledge base, as well as working as a lure for other libraries (Verena due to its protectiveness, Light College due to it being a Hysh Dragon, ect) what hasn't been mentioned yet is its effects on knowledge being traded from the east.

If anything is going to get Cathay interested, then it's going to be a library run by an Emperor Dragon which unlocks a further source of materials that would be new to Mathilde. Of particular benefit would be information on the Cathayan Alchemists and its Duality magic system given how divergent it is from Teclisean magic which would be incredibly helpful for the Waystone project and in general.

I think it's mentioned somewhere that renegade Ice Witches did join the Fire Spire, and all the traditionalist Ice Witches stayed in Kislev City, so it's likely that the Fire Spire could have been hooked up to the waystone network.

At the very least, Praag is a cursed city despite being on the waystone network, so something weird is happening there.

This post I made might be what you mean:
This is everything about the Fire Spire from Realm of the Ice Queen Page 76, which is the only source that has the Fire Spire:

"This imposing, narrow spire is still the tallest structure in Praag, despite losing its top two stories in the War. It was built as a magical college by Z'ra Rudolf II, who was fascinated by the magical arts and wished to gather all sorcerers to the city, be they ice witches, hags, or the strange wizards of the Empire. Traditionalist Ice Witches and Hags looked on in horror as, soon enough, the heights of the tower were bursting with Aethyric flames, arcs of frost-fire, and alchemical explosions, causing the townsfolk to dub it the "Fire Spire." However, the witches' vocal disapproval was soon proven wise for, during the Great War, the tower acted as a lightning rod to Chaos sorcerers and was forever twisted by Dark Magic. Now, the Fire Spire stands as a testament to the witches' warnings, for none who enter its haunted chambers return; but, even so, the promise of lost magical wonders continues to tempt desperate treasure hunters. The Fire Spire still attracts both natural and unnatural phenomena, and being near it during a storm is a very bad idea.

Although its inhabitants played a large part in defending the city during the Great War, the damage from the exploding spire and the remaining Chaos taint are forever associated with magic and its practitioners in a very negative way. Ironically, this prejudice—coupled with the large Ungol population and the risks of spellcasting (see sidebar)—means there are almost no ice witches in Praag. Hags are welcome, but none step onto its tainted soil unless they absolutely have to, leaving Praag almost entirely empty of spell casters (apart from travelling Empire wizards seeking some lost lore). But the hags know that the city is not defenceless: they can sense that some deep power, perhaps the Ancient Widow Herself, watches over the city from below, though why and to what extent remains unknown."

Anything else is Boney original.

In terms of Forests, I have to mention that Kislev has far less forests than the Empire and they don't seem as notable as the Empire's Forest monsters. Another factor to keep in mind is that the Hag Witches stayed in their lane during the Great War. Their power is attached to their environment, and many of them linger in forests, so the forests are kept safe because the Hag Witches were unaffected by the Great War.
It's essentially all that's available in official canon sources.

As Codex posted, there are almost no Ice Witches in Pragg, which is different from none at all.

And if the wizards of the Fire Spire had done something to mess with their network, I think the Ice Witches would have made every effort to undo it.

This piques my curiosity. Does Adela count as part of the Pilots' Guild or not? I'm not sure the Guild has any procedures whatsoever for inducting a non-Guild Member to recieve the official training and qualifications to become a Pilot, since this is a bit of an unprecedented situation. I would suspect her to swear many of the same Oaths either way, but I imagine her Guild status would be a tricky bit of legaliese.
Ninjaed by actual explanation, but my head-crackon was that as someone who blows up grobi and goraki at a high risk of personal immolation, all Bright wizards are honorary members of the guild who just need to fill out the appropriate paperwork.

Let's ask our buddy Morghur for a little tour around Karag Dum. What could go wrong?
We do have the Deceiver. And Polyglot. 'I am actually a beastman that escaped the Witch Hunters who shaved me and filed off my horns before they could burn me' has a non zero chance of working with some prep.

There's only so far stealth can take you when you're levelling a Chaos Dwarf zip code.
You get further with a stinger missile and a cardboard box than just a cardboard box.

After having slept, I come back to retracting my approval vote for Cython, but I feel better for having done so with what I view to be better reasoning.

I don't think Cython would be doing any betraying or dishonesty and stuff, and I think it'd be very good at the job if it puts its mind to it, but I do think there is a much greater chance of conflicts of interest occurring(where Cython's priorities for a hoard of knowledge might be different from our priorities in making it an ideal library), and that's something I don't really want to risk the success of the Library on.

[X] The We
[X] Cult of Verena

So I come back to prioritizing the We, who I want to see more of and have the potential to be hilariously effective and highly trustworthy librarians that will only keep getting better with time. I feel the We would maximize the usability and stability of the Library in the long term.

I've found the arguments for the Locals option to be compelling as well, I can see the appeal in the way it integrates the Library into the Karak's identity and follows up on the general multiculturalism of K8P, but it doesn't quite beat the We for me.

I think a trouble here is basically that when we presented the Library concept to Belegar, the "spider library" and "dragon library" and "K8P multiculturalism-extension" library factions were united in wanting a library that didn't have species restrictions in hiring, and when that vote won people made expectations for themselves based on what the vote meant to them - and now it turns out there will inevitably have to be some people whose expectations cannot be met.
