Mathilde is tired and messed up, miscasts are dangerous, Kragg is meddling DOING ENTIRELY PREDICTABLE RUNIC THINGS with the Winds of Magic. Let's have a nap.

[X] This wealth is the future of Karak Eight Peaks. Stay here with the Hoard.

So Mathilde's taking a nap when the Dwarfs bleed their ass off trying to win this war?

The warzone's not a good time to be lazy, friend.

We are one of the few a dawi would trust with hoard.

inb4 dwarves are more ok with temples of Ranald among umgi than humans are

i mean, they seem to be more respecting of Mathilde than humans
scared and wary, but they appear to respect a skilled craftswoman when they see one
OTOH the "thief" aspect of Ranald is really against dwarven sensibilities
If we do tell what happened, I kinda hope we could get that chamber dedicated to Ranald.

Mathilde still has to make a report on what's going on , hopefully it would she'd light on what the orks are doing either hunting Mathilde down or hunting heretics.

Still what are the risks of a miscasts compared to a horde overrunning the defenders near the citadel and hundreds of people dying?

Dwarves are way more fellow to her than vast majority of humans, especially prejudiced stirlanders, at this point.

I keep seeing this sentiment, and I don't get it. Is it because dwarves are expected to be anti-wizard and xenophobic so getting treated politely because we are a massive paragon counts as a huge thing? Because in terms of prejudice, there's a strong undercurrent of 'good, but will never be as good as a dwarf' running under all our interactions with them.

Dwarves are Bros, but let's not kid ourselves that we'd get more social acceptance in a dwarf area than a human one.

[] The enemy reaction is greater than expected. Make your way to join the imminent battle outside.
-[]Carefully.

Let's see who we can keep alive.

Edit: changed my mind-

Minimizing the risk of miscasting is always a good idea.

The risk of a miscast is that we actually explode, or go insane, or daemons start manifesting?

This isn't a vote for sitting on our laurels, it's about not doing things that would make us blow up after we just served as the middlewoman for a Divine swindling of potentially world shaking proportions.

If we roll badly, it'd be worse than if we did nothing, which guarding the hoard isn't.

I was going to go with the original plan, but you know what; all of you are right. Sometimes it's best to cash out when you're ahead of the game rather than risk a bust that loses it all.

I think that's enough gambling for one day.

Besides, I'm going reiterate, our job isn't to murder everything. Our job is to kill/destroy/steal/etc specific things so it's easier for other people to do the murdering. Decapitating enemy leadership and interrupting a divine ritual is more than enough contribution for the moment.

[X] Keep to the original plan. Find the invasion force and join them as they fight their way through Karag Nar.
-[X]Keep Aethyric Armour up to let you fight, but otherwise be conservative with your spells. You're tired and your soul was wrung like a bell. Stay safe, as you can.

Mostly, I think it would help if the Dwarves had some kind of report, so they knew what the hell was going on.

Look, who says we have to cast anything? We got the greatsword right? And some heals if things ever got desperate. It's not like magic is the only tool in our arsenal.
We're utterly exhausted physically, and the only thing keeping us on our feet is the side effect of aethyric armor. By definition, we do have to keep casting it the entire time we're on the battlefield or else collapse uselessly.

Our arsenal is spent.

Like hell is this laziness. For one, "Hurry up and wait" is entirely apt and this hoard needs guarding (which we are uniquely suited for), and for another being able to take a break and recharge is a vital skill for any soldier on a battlefield. Exhausted soldier in a fight is a dead soldier (and possibly his buddies too, or a civilian being shot by mistake), resulting in one less guy on your side for the rest of the campaign.

And we are a wizard. We explode into daemons when we mess up. Not to mention that we are a very valuable asset that this expedition might not be able to afford to lose.

Mathilde is an irreplaceable asset to Mathilde!

Ugh. Hubris is a coward's words.

Besides, where exactly was it mentioned in the update that Mathilde was exhausted anyway? Exhausted to the point of having a malus, I mean. Absolutely none! For all we know, she might just got into a run and still got a few more laps to go in her!

Because the mechanics are a bit non-intuitive, I will point out that Mathilde was rolling for spells she normally doesn't need to. A note to this effect has been added to the update.
