Or that the Eyes repaired themselves, or that something else changed. Just because it's obvious to us, doesn't mean it's obvious to the characters. Especially ones without any knowledge of how magic actually works, like Belegar. I'm not saying Belegar is definitely going to come to a different conclusion, I'm saying it's neither impossible, nor out of character for him to come to an incorrect one.
When shown reasonable proof that Karaz-a-Karak was taking energy (after the Dum expedition), he took the out that paints Thorgrim in a good light
"Or there's more to it than Karaz-a-Karak benefitting at the expense of the other Dwarfholds," you finish.

Belegar scowls as he processes that. "I'll have to give this matter more thought," he finally concedes.
This strengthens that conclusion, imo.

I think Belegar would rather he be in the wrong, than Thorgrim.

Sure. I'm just saying that Belegar could still draw an incorrect conclusion about the Eyes, and never make the link to the Waystones.

Well, holy crap. That was an intriguing update to wake up to. Really cool to get an update that shows a bit of what the Dawi are doing this way, and... yeah, heh, this might be decades or a generation ahead into the future -- at least, the part where they go in and start resettling it and stuff; the clearing out of enemy forces from the pass itself is gonna be starting earlier than that -- so we'll see if we'll be free to able to join another expedition when it leaves years from now...

Also, again, it's cool to have an update that shows Thorgrim doing things. The update where he gets the news of Karak Eight Peaks reclamation, and the alarm-klaxons go silent, still remains one of the biggest "Holy shit..." ones so far.

For the Media threadmark, looking at the the page numbers of where posts are...

College Rolodex
Book Accessibility

Those two are still in the wrong place. They're in the older parts when they should be in the more recent area.

Also, I actually found a Threadmark entry that got placed a little bit too far ahead instead:
Loremaster Weber in diplomatic negotiations with the We, 2482 (Colourized)

This one should be placed a couple entries back. It's in between "An Objective Analysis" and "Waaaghltzing Mathilde", but it should be back between "College-Approved Manuel of Queekish" and "The We's Stealth School" instead.

You're joking, but timing a speech like that is really hard.
Oh, for an Umgi, certainly. But an experienced Dawi orator will have practiced and mastered the precise craft of speaking every single word correctly, and will know exactly how long it takes to do so.

Seriously though, the throne probably has some sort of switch or something to turn them on, not a big mystery.

he just used the ctrl+M hotkey to bring up the minimap

I thought the throne (and thus its functions) was connected with the high king telepathically or something?

How else could he play RTS when in full view of others

Mount Silverspear is a waystone, in theory at least. This does give us an in with the grand finale of the dwarven efforts.

Hmmm, I wonder it retaking Waystones could be an ancillary goal of the project.

Bring in all those factions together for the research and use our in with all the rulers to coordinate assaults on lost waystones with Elites and troops (depending on distance) of the Empire, Karaz Ankor, Laurelorn, Kislev, Bretonnia, etc.

As was so often the case in recent years, Belegar's mind drifts to the question of Karaz-a-Karak. Ever since his ever-reliable Loremaster had uncovered the matter of the siphoned energy, he had wondered what purpose Karaz-a-Karak had been putting it to. Was this part of the answer? Was it somehow needed to reopen sealed portions of the Karak? Was the High King planning to take a page from his own book and start trying to lure in settlers from other Holds? It was hard enough to convince a Clan to uproot themselves to build a new life from scratch already, it would only become more so if Everpeak itself started pursuing the very same goal. Perhaps he should have brought Mathilde along on this, so that her keen senses could have assayed whatever it was the High King was up to in these long-abandoned halls.
Inside the mind of a dwarf is an honest place.
He's surrounded by his brother-kings and sister-queens, yet the one person his mind automatically seeks council is woman of peasant born who have proven herself time and time again in his eyes. And that matters the most to him

Lets hope we manage to crack this project before they decide to assault the orc haven, so we can lend a hand.

Edit: awesome, the dwarf got a renaissance version of CC TV network or satelite imagery

Mount silverspear would not be the best choice for that. The only way to project power is the Silver road, from KaK.
It's far away from everything, and isolated.

Karak Varn and Ungor would be easier to reach with massed numbers, due to their closeness to the other polities.

Oh gods, if this retaking is deemed "of higher importance", then we might have lost our chance to grab runesmiths as they will all be busy for the next few decades.
It would just mean we might have to deal with Thorgrim directly.
If we go "I, Mathilde, the one who helped bring back two waystone network pieces and savior of dwarfkind, am working to bring more waystones back. But I need a runesmith."

There is a chance he will practically throw one at us.

What was it that was said?
The dwarvish word meaning 'Dwarf-like' translates as 'looks promising but has yet to truly prove itself'. And the word meaning 'manling-like' translates as 'shoddy work'.

So I wonder, what the dwarvish word Belegar uses for 'Mathilde-like' in his own thoughts translates as.

Do you struggle to remember the members of the Colleges of Magic in Divided Loyalties, and wish there was a resource that listed them all and who they are? Then you're in luck, because I spent way too much time on this. Please tell me if I missed anyone or made any mistakes.
Could you add a bolded underlined title for Apprentices and Former?
I know it's silly, but something about there only being the spoiler tab itself ... bugs me. (Honestly, even 'bug' is a strong word.)

Well that is a thing. We will have to find a way to involve Mathilde in the Karak reclamation. Since seeing how a waystone is reactivated will be of help to the project.

And while there's many a time that Sigmar's heirs have fallen short of the example their ancestor set, I would call a liar any Dawi who would claim that we have not failed the example set by our own forebears.
SHIIIT he has just publicly admitted their failure as well as his own personal failure. This is a MAJOR event. On one hand, this is a bit of shame for the entire race, on the other, he could use this to negate some rather nasty blowback against the empire in a 'yes you failed to uphold your end of a bargain but we failed our part so we are even' way.

I think Belegar would rather he be in the wrong, than Thorgrim.

Mathilde said it herself to the Chamberlain of the Seal:

"Not quite. They don't think like we do. A human is very good at convincing himself that he's in the right. A Dwarf will obsessively dwell on them being in the wrong. I suspect they find it literally impossible not to. So an Elector that is upset at the Emperor will convince himself why it's okay for him to divide Sigmar's Empire, but a Dwarven King upset at the High King will brood endlessly on how they are failing Grungni's Karaz Ankor. So instead of rebellion, you have a growing silence, until the King succumbs to despair and relations are normalized with the heir's ascension." You think of Belegar and suppress a wince.

If Belegar can convince himself that this is the reason Thorgrim has been siphoning his Hold's energy then I expect he would feel quite some relief, though now I'm a little worried that he will simply switch to feeling shame that his lack of trust in his High King was him failing Grungni's Karaz Ankor in its own way, if only for a time :/

Thorgrim was great despite having a massive constant headache for 180 years.

Hit them hard enough and they'll break... but put them under pressure and you get diamonds.

Existential dread was not enough to break Thorgrim. He had hope before being crowned, and is strong enough to still have it after this.

I think he'll need a new deed name by the time he's done.
