We also need to keep in mind the bond; anything Freddy feels is going to go back through the bond to Natasha; the bond can be constricted, but not closed. It's much better for Freddy to not distract Natasha while she's working.

A good point. Even if it'll be conveyed why it's happening, that doesn't mean it won't be distracting. Even the most consummate professionals can be distracted if you try hard enough.

Freddy isn't going to stop here, so the torture training would have some payoff even after he escapes and likely has to go through Norscan.

Still, it's good to see that the divide between "upper" and "lower" Druchii is thoroughly entrenched.

@torroar like...As a rough estimate, how badly did the Underdweller Clan Leadership get fucked here? Because I'm not sure if this was circling the wagons and the other Druchii backing off out of disgust, or if some surviving leader among the Underdwellers pulled in favors to get the other Druchii to back off

Either way it's a hell of a blow if the interruption caused by it delayed a consolidation project, but the fact that the aftermath played out the way it did belies an organized force running damage control

That either implies a rival, or some other societal Pillar coming into play, and whichever it was could inform our position going forward

Yeah, cause while they have trained to deal with that earlier, human torture methods and pain at least, that was in a safe environment.

I'm sold, best to focus on bomb building and maybe passing on fake info for our host to use.

Depending on how things go, it might genuinely be a better idea to just gank the Deep Dweller Clan leadership further. Even if the "surface" Druchii lacked a unifying figure to let them bulldoze into the caverns to figure out what happened, that means that there was a rallying figure or point of leverage that got them to swallow their pride and back off without further posturing.

Something is about to be dredged up to the surface of affairs on the Ark, and eliminating it would be a huge prize for plunging the place into true chaos. Especially if it fucks over the remaining Fleetmasters and provides an opening for them to escape.

Edit: God, hitting an entire freshwater cistern is pretty bad because that's actually a pretty sizable amount of the Arks freshwater reserves being wiped out in the damage.

If another one goes that'll mean it's just the primary aquifers that remain to supply the entire population, meaning rationing. At that point there's no way the Deep Dweller Clans would give up their own Freshwater supplies to feed the rest of the Ark

That's a big deal right there

A possible strategy occurs to me. If we can destabilize Voidreaper's nascent regime enough, after a certain point Hultressa just straight up admitting she hasn't been really spending time interrogating Freddy (or at least claiming she's not sharing what she's learned) could be a power-play itself.

"Really Alyssa? You think I've been wasting time interrogating my prisoner in order to help prop up your doomed rule? After you aided and abetted the humans in invading this Arc and killing our leadership? Don't deny it. There are plenty of witnesses to you fighting your mother alongside Dwarves of all things. You and your tag-a-longs are going to be strung-up not as failures, but traitors the moment we disembark in Naggaroth. I, and anyone else with a lick of sense, have been properly spending our time gathering proof we are still loyal and useful to our Lord."

Hultressa is probably not the only "hidden power player" in the Arks political scene.

We can definitely assume that the families controlling the Arenas are fairly large deals, and every day that they remain closed is a concession forced upon them under the circumstances

Surface Druchii just had to eat the humiliation of backing down from the Deep Dweller Clans. The Cult of Khaine still hasn't finished re-establishing itself.

Hrrrmmm...

And the Fleetmaster and most of his leadership cadre are likely dead as well.

That would mean whoever the controlling interest on the Deep Dweller Clans is they're likely not tied to any of those existing power structures or else that interaction wouldve gone completely differently as theres no way that a personality like Voidreapers would prioritize the literal garbage of Druchii society over the flashier shit especially when the flashier shit are her primary concern and threat at this time.

All told the only power structure relatively intact and with the capital to flex and will to intercede on the Deep Dwellers behalf is a force that can capitalize on the changed circumstances. Military is a surface Druchii affair and thus would destabilize things further, plus it's not unified anyways.

Cults definitively lacking a unifying figure with that kind of pull in the first place or else theyd already have integrated the Fortresses' refugees into it's own power structure.

That means it's a relatively private enterprise, and the only power structure that didnt get hard fucked in the Sakalken campaign.

Meaning that whomever interceded on the Deep Dwellers behalf must fit the criteria of:

  • Not being weakened by the events of Sakalken
  • Being critical enough that they can ostensibly have the pull to get disparate opportunistic Druchii to back off literally peacefully
  • Be in a position where they can extract advantage from the Deep Dwellers remaining unmolested, meaning they're either already on top of a power structure that had the Deep Dweller Clans integrated, or are in a position to bring them into said power structure due to pre-existing relationships
  • Not be so ingrained into the Deep Dwellers existing hierarchy that they would have been present for the riot and highly successful mass assassination that just got pulled off

Which just leaves the Fleetmasters - as the ones who bring in supplies from the wider ocean for the Deep Dwellers to take advantage of, including Slaves from their raids - or the entities in charge of the distribution of food through the Ark itself.

And we know that the Fleetmaster faction are, pardon the pun, already dead in the water courtesy of the events leading up to the Kessel Run.

Meaning that the likely culprit for giving the Deep Dweller Clans room to breathe is someone intimately connected to the agricultural industry aboard the ship.

That's a big fucking fish.

I will be honest I want to get immunity to some druchi poisons and stuff both to show that yes we trust you a tiny bit and to show the endurance of a man who outdrank Bugman himself.

Also, if you know yourself and the enemy you don't need to fear a result of a thousand battles. And our knowledge of ourselves is a bit iffy, so getting to know the enemy more is a good thing.

If I'm right and the interceding power is the one that controls the food distribution of the Ark, we genuinely may be better off just doubling down on the bombs.

A singular strike to the Pyramid Farms could be super decisive as a tipping point to throwing the Ark into chaos. Especially if Natasha and Roland can manage to force the specific individual to act in such a way as to reveal themselves to where Hultressa can identify them, enabling a more targeted explosive whoopsie-daisie.

Like, legit. If we can figure out who's base of power is the one that acts as a force of stability on the "civilian" side of things, then knocking out that pillar will throw the entire Ark into a furball as individual Druchii move to try and secure control of the food for themselves. And if done quickly enough, Voidreaper won't have the pull necessary to act as a stabilizing force herself.

This is a genuinely big deal for accelerating the timetable to enable an escape. No joke

Edit: If we bait said individual into the open, and whomever killed that one Arena Family scion kills them for us, then that's a massive plus. Sometimes you're stuck acting as the hunting dog and rustling out some birds from the brush for someone else to nab. But hey, so long as it works am I right?

Edit2:

To put things another way, if we manage to throw the entire Ark into chaos over infighting over the control of their food supply, while Voidreaper still has yet to fully consolidate her grip on the Ark, then there's not going to be a need to try and mess around with the Colosseums or whatever to incite a slave revolt.

With the fracturing of the Arks military forces, the families in control of those arenas will likely just use their slaves as impromptu armies themselves, and pit them against one another for their own benefit. Which while ostensibly worse for the gladiators themselves, is objectively better for Frederick and Hultressa and the rest since that kind of multi-faction squabble is the perfect kind of distraction for them to accomplish their necessary tasks.

Freddy is a noteworthy individual on the Black Ark, whatever ends up happening Freddy cannot leave the room because druchii will notice him. On the other hand if Hultressa can show there's some work done on Freddy, we could have Freddy moved to different locations as a trophy of Hultressa's if we go through the torture. Which would be helpful if we get a better opportunity at something in the future, or we could keep Freddy locked up on the Ark until there's enough madness and mayhem onboard to allow him some freedom of movement.

yeah no fresh water may force them to either find a dock or make landing too resupply our opportunity to escape may come quicker then expected

You do not fear pain and preparation, not when it could aid you against whatever the Druchii might potentially try to do to you.

We've spent several turns making bombs, and if the Druchii hit us in their funky esoteric ways in such a way that Gwendolyn, the defending Terrors, Hultressa's own wards and protections, and Frederick's own martial ability can't help us, the bombs aren't helping us.

Hultressa's training, being a powerful sorceress adept in the way sorceresses think, however, may.

We also need to keep in mind the bond; anything Freddy feels is going to go back through the bond to Natasha; the bond can be constricted, but not closed. It's much better for Freddy to not distract Natasha while she's working.

I remember there being chapters where Frederick and Natasha had specifically trained to minimize getting distracted, especially by pain, through the bond. In addition, we also had Natasha and the others lay low rather than target the next Aquafarm, if i recall.

No, the majority voted to strike the next target and Go Big, not extraction.

We don't necessarily have to worry about that if we keep producing bombs to move up the time table.

Once we identify whomever is backing the Deep Dweller Clans we can bomb their center of power and hurl the Ark into chaos, like unironically. Not all the hydroponic farm pyramids are controlled by the same entity.

But that doesn't mean that one individual can't control more than one of them. Plus, we'll need bombs to blow open sealed doors and other potential obstacles for the rescue operations.

We need more explosives, as fast as possible to keep ahead of everything potentially going to shit.

People we are facing Druchii in combat at some point. Get that pain resistance training. Also we don't actually get bomb making supplies regularly enough to make bombs all the time. We can actually do both and do them well.

What is your definition of "that"? The conversation moved, you didn't quote, and I'm struggling to recognize which topic specifically you are talking about.

??? You guys are clearly concerned about a failstate whereby Frederick has to be prepared to be exposed to those torture methods, right?

But the timetable's vastly accelerated towards instability. We probably have a timetable of like days before everything goes to hell. One or two more big moves will expose a fault line in the Ark's political climate, and then we can just bomb a farm and it'll all fall apart.

The primary issue is managing to identify which farm to hit, or multiple such farms.

Yea, we prob should accept even if it cuts into our bomb production time. It's one of the few areas we're lacking which is knowledge of warding and its effect.

(An ever crazier idea, if Hultressa skills in healing is to be trusted, is probably offering some of parts of Freddy or something that she's making a flayed banner or what not If they require proof.

She can just say some excuse like she's taking her sweet time afterwards in making an exclusive, limited edition, Flayed Freddy Banner or something. Prob can buy more time at that.)

The counter there is on the viability that Freddy cannot leave the room when everything goes into the failstate because of Freddy being recognizable from looking at his face. If, Freddy obtains a chance to escape and he cannot leave because a druchii recognizes him due to his healthy face, that's a issue. Leaves a trail, or means a fight that could have been avoided, or a fight that takes time from escaping, or worse Freddy gets made and doesn't know he got made so when he escapes he ends up facing a small army.

[X] Refuse: Now is not the time for you to be suffering more than you already are. You can focus more on bomb production instead.

Mostly to not distract the wife and more bombs fast.

If a dark elf is crazy/brave enough to come here the MC will be a bit screwed anyway (plus first elfdaughter is a better physical stat).

Xxxxx

What she needs (I think) is 'extracting" information that either don't help but would please those dark heart witches or information that would hurt the current leader (if that is possible).

My favorite one would be that the reason the 3 heirs destroyed their planes on Avalon was...

...They got drunk and went to a wild ride. Probably boosted by the god of sea.

(Now I just trying to throw more fire)

Said being that had a human priest that caused a ridiculous amount of damage. And helped destroy their fleet.

... if she wants do add salt. The how the humans got the unprecedented victory. That was also a human priest of that God. That 'surfed' (I sure he is faster than rl humans) while hurt in a sea full of monsters.

...peharps inform them that the were no high elf priest in the battle? They all 'hide in their tower'? That could be take in more than one way. But probably hurt the pride that a tower guarded by ?shadow hunters? Decided to NOT fight them.

I will stop here. Today my sleep was truly horrible (in the sense that I got none) so I apologize here if my brain was not working as it should.

we could just let hultressa take false info from us it could only come back to bite her in arse if for some reason the black arc tells some other dark elfs and they follow it up before we escape(which they won't as they won't want to admit their failure unless they get something to make up for it) or we could feed them info about target that is very weak when it is not and full of the things they need slaves water loot ect to encourage the black arc to land at escape point we would prefer

The Cult of Khaine, the potentially surviving dragonrider, a druchii with too much free time. Freddy is popular on this Black Ark. In a failstate of the Ark, there would be opportunists seeking to kill Freddy for a prestige boost. Direct combat? Surely the one who used intrigue to commit the kill is the superior, everyone knows that the best killers are ones who never drew a blade.

Intrigue is a druchii specialty, the idea of delivering a false location might affect some druchii, but it could be too obvious too. Particularly for reclusive Hultressa.
