It's still intresthing how "humig work" is being shifted to "Human work" in the minds of the dwarfs, one is hapf assed measures that will break in a decade or so while the other is more about the bare minimum of skill necessary do a task as fast as possible. But is still a viable piece of work when you are short for time.
 
In any case, this would be an excellent time for the greenskins to use their giant spiders to climb to the top of the gate. The vertical ascent should be nothing to them, and they can leave behind nearly-unbreakable ropes to help with the process of turning the ladders and siege towers into a proper scaffolding.

Because the really dangerous thing about this Waaagh is not just the sheer size, but the ability to pull out every weapon in the greenskin arsenal, all at once.

Ahh, but those same spiders and their riders/minders/pets are focused on a religious war in the forests of the Old World. You can bet they'd have used them for their climbing assault otherwise.

Keep in mind that the battle proper, beginning after the greenskins made it all the way through the minefield and other traps and avalanches and such, has lasted less than a week. Less than half that, I think?
 
Odds are good the siege might last longer than it takes for Freddy and company to get home, if we manage escaping of course.
 
Freddy was 18 at the begging of the quest if im not mistaken so this mean he should be 58 now.

He was born at 2286.
Anna and Alissa where born at 2306- and should be 38 right now.
Wile Magnus, Arthur and Oskar where born at 2309 and should be 35, well except for Oskar because well Zacharias.

If you are referring to Magnus von Bildhofen, the Emperor, he was of similar age to Frederick when he killed Asavar Kul the Everchosen of Chaos. Frederick was struggling with dealing with a minor Chaos Champion near Salkalten a few months after Magnus fought Asavar, with Magnus being perhaps one or two years older than Frederick. Additionally, Magnus was your average Nulner foppish minor noble before he received his grand self-revelation about the state of the Empire and subsequently took up the torch of redemption and unification, compared to drunken blacksmith aggressive exiled noble Frederick who bashed the occasional beastman or goblin or bandit as part of the town militia.

I choose to take the particularly wizened fellow in the artwork standing in the snow as an in-universe bit of stylization, given that he's also next to a Tzarina who would not necessarily have been that given that Tzar Alexis was the one fighting and dying against Asavar Kul.

Magnus is likely swimming in all kinds of holy juices and magic keeping him healthy and strong, so age likely won't be an issue for awhile.

Though we do know the job keeps him stressed and tired most of the time, but he does have his outlets like his griffin whom he loves. :D

I'm curious what else the Pious does for fun when not working for good of the Empire as a whole.

I know its not gonna happen its too dangerous and I don't even know who would be able to do it without disturbing the ballance of the empire, but I wish he found a partner. Doesn't have to even be romantic but someone who he can talk too and relax with. I mean that isn't named Sigmar.

A pretty significant one, especially because the elves are not just some kind of service you can just ring up. Also, somewhat insulting to just try and drop one on him out of nowhere.

I understand the compassion behind it, but also consider that he doesn't have access to a few Jade Magisters like the PC dynasty does. Magnus von Bildhofen gets close access to the actual full on Jade Matriarch, aka the unquestionably most powerful Jade Wizard in all of the Empire. Foremost students of all humanity in Ghyran by Teclis. And her own staff. And the greatest Imperial Wizard of his generation, Volans, who utilizes the lore of Light, which has its own remarkable healing and purification abilities, and all his staff. And the Grand Theogonist of the Cult of Sigmar, who's power is also incredible and good at purification and healing. And a powerful high priestess of Shallya. And the alchemical wonders of the Gold College, as well as the other colleges. And has attending to him on occasion the local heads of the Cults of Taal and Rhya of Wissenland. And has had more interactions with Teclis than Frederick has.

Put another way, canonically he made it to 2369 perfectly fine, and that was quite possibly canonically without the same amount of interaction with the above sources without Frederick leading the charge on taking in such aid openly.

Canon Magnus the Pious died at 89. There's also going to be a certain expectation that Magnus the Pious will not be using magic to extend his lifespan. If extending the life of Magnus the Pious was desired, Magnus the Pious could go for the dragon-blood elixers of Cathay.

From what we do know of our quest Magnus the Pious, Magnus the Pious is a extreme workaholic because he is a pious believer in reunifyinhg the Empire of Man. We should have entered a time period where Magnus could take his eyes off the Empire for a decade and more to play to his strengths of creating diplomatic ties between the empire of Man and the World Powers in the Old World. The World just... changes fast sometimes.

The griffon hatchling is the one vice Magnus allowed himself to indulge in, and that griffon has utility beyond being a pet. Surveillance, war, prestige, symbology.

I'm going to guess that as the unquestionably greatest emperor in the Empire's history since Sigmar himself Magnus is trying to follow Sigmar's own example by deliberately avoiding having children so as to not create a dynasty that could be used to try to monopolize the Imperial throne.

Yeah, partly thanks to our actions and the actions of others, as mentioned earlier in the thread, the Empire has in some circles embraced magic faster than it was in state of canon. Something Magnus has certainly taken advantage of on many levels, his health included.

Of course, but you can't deny having him as a pet has likely done wonders for Magnus' general good mood.
 
TLDR: assume that big Magnus have Freddy's perks on steroids as a baseline.
Freddy may or may not have a diferent kind of rep with dwarves or elves but that is due the absurd circumstances that let him provide absurd services for the elder races.

I'm actually pretty sure I straight up read that somewhere? Maybe in an infobook, a wiki entry, or something...or I could be misremembering, but yeah. Sigmar definitely had children, his bloodline exists, but it was diffused outwards a lot. But Magnus, if he ever had children, they were kept secret, possibly not even told of their father, seconded to temples or something.

Overall, he definitely wanted to create a non-monopolizing dynasty situation as Sigmar did, at least IIRC.

I'm not sure about this but IIRC Sigmar is depicted in one of the novels having a romance with someone during one of the novels about his adventures without it being stated outright that that said romance lead to conception.

If memory serves Gaius Marius ran with that in his famous Imperial Knight quest by having it so that Sigmar had a child that way and that the resulting bloodline was of great metaphysical importance due to a prophecy of how when the End of Times will come Sigmar will incarnate himself via an emperor of his blood, presumably referring to Karl Franz's ascension upon being killed during EoT.

That was before he became Emperor. Before Nagash and Morkar. Before he'd become too venerated.

She was in all aspects the love of his youth…and she was killed by Gerreon-turned-Azazel.

However, he did spend a night with the ruler of one of the tribes of man in exchange for her allegiance.

Luthor Huss was just a determined twelve year old when he showed up at that temple in the northern Empire manned by a single aged priest. Volans who became the First Supreme Patriarch mastered his magic well without falling to temptation despite being able to equally see all Eight Winds so well, and Gelt who showed up already able to transmute lead to gold and the like at an age younger the Volans even as a wizard, were both just people as well that managed to become what they were without being descended from Sigmar's loins.

So on and so forth.

I imagine any descendant of Sigmar, might just be a complete nobody. Not like the Children of Ulric, where that is a divine coming down to have descendants. More like a human such as Myrmiddia, or Sigmar, having descendants, and those descendants being human.

If anyone might be related to Sigmar, it would possibly be Freddy, Ortrud, and Stephan due to how long the Northern bloodlines have endured as one continuous royal house. Well, maybe not Stephan, and Ortrud, but Freddy's line might have picked up a few blood descended from Sigmar folks during the existence of the empire. Maybe the Fuerbachs too?
