Hey folks, Ostland may have had an Emperor/Empress. They just weren't notable.

Notice that the The Uncertain Times and Era of Three Emperors just says "Many" for where those heads of state were located.

We just got the highlights, not the full list.

Sigismund IV was also responsible for roadwardens, it failed to save him from the greenskin problem of his day, but it did give a answer to the imperial bandit problem (did not solve the problem, gave a answer to the problem), did help somewhat in the greenskin whaagh aftermath and stands as a long lasting institution that all the provinces accept since around-ish 1707 IC.

And awwww, torroar didn't include the emperors involved in The Battle of Four Armies.
Vampire Wars wiki page said:
Konrad was so unwaveringly vicious that, confronted with his wrath, the three claimants to the Imperial throne put aside their differences and combined forces against him on two separate occasions. The first time was at the Battle of Four Armies, an inconclusive clash fought outside Middenheim in 2100. This battle was most notable for the infamous scene of treachery where Ludwig's son and successor, Lutwik, and Ottilia IV of Talabecland treacherously ordered the assassination of each other during the fray - after all, a battlefield is the ideal place for a blade in the back. In the chaos that followed their mutual destruction, the nobles of the Empire desperately sought to unite under a single leader. Helmut of Marienburg was the prime candidate.[1f]

A conclave of the Elector Counts assembled at Averheim to decide the matter. Even as support for him was gathering in the council hall, Helmut began to act erratically, struck dumb and vacant at a critical time. Helmut's skin began to peel away and one of his eyes dropped out, much to the horror of the assembled counts. Even Helmut's son, Helmar, refused his father's claim to the throne once it was discovered that Helmut was a Zombie under Konrad's control! Discovered, Konrad's Necromancers fled with their Zombie Emperor-to-be. Enraged that his devious plan had failed, Konrad slaughtered his way from Averheim to the Howling Hills, putting to the torch every town and village he came across.

It's one of the funniest bits of imperial history.

Edit: There's three Gunthars listed but the numbers have "II" repeat for Gunthar.

Mandred Skavenslayer in this continuity was named Mandred I, and not named Mandred II?

Well that there fault for being dead.
I personally blame Clan Pestilens, since the last known time of Lichtenberg being part of the Empire (900, when the Empire was at the height of expansion) was only a couple centuries before they unleashed The Black Plague on the Empire. No clue if torroar has different thoughts, though.

There's also West Mark (founded in the modern territories of Bretonnia during Sigismund the conqueror's day, might have been folded into Middenland at some point, or simply lost), Sylvania, the Moot, and Grauesland (founded after the first Parravon War within the Grey Mountains between modern Bretonnia and the Empire, on the territory of modern Parravon). For provinces that never got a emperor from their province. Then again, West Mark, Lichtenburg and Grauesland might have a majority of settlers from the empire, not new groups added to the empire as equals placed on top. The empire can be oddly tribal at the strangest of times.

Which is what makes Freddy so amazing as well. In-quest, he's likely the first Elector Count of Ostland who has a strong chance of getting elected Emperor in the event of Magnus' passing, were he to stand for it.
I doubt Freddy has a realistic chance of becoming Emperor. With at least 3 electors hating his guts (Middenland, Talabecland and the Moot) and man's own crap diplomacy he is just not a good candidate. Little Magnus on the other hand....

Eh, the whole Political scene is up in the air.

Most of the Elector Counts marched to face the Waaagh. Who knows how many will survive that apocalyptic battle?

Could see a whole new generation of Elector Counts after this as all the heirs get promoted prematurely.

pretty much freddy only becomes emperor in a everyone is dead situation including little magnus he is 58 that means his possible reign will be shorter then magnus (the pious) 30 years at most and would be mostly spent putting out fires(inculding bringing back ECs that rebelled because they don't like him) in the aforementioned worst case scenario really freddy becoming big E is not good thing as that means things are well and truly buggered so hard that he has to step up

frankly IC I don't think fred would want it anyway hes been through so much the man needs a holiday

This is actually a bit of weirdness.

Because Emperor Wilhelm the Wise is the one who creates the official Imperial Road Warden Service, which absorbed the Roadwardens into the army and put down a lot of standards and sort to stop abuses and the like. It's also acknowledged that Roadwardens as a concept already existed, coming to be funded by the Elector Counts personally in the earlier days of the Empire. Sigismund IV largely appears to have just granted the Roadwardens greater authority during the Gorbad issue, he didn't actually found them, after lots of letters about issues in Stirland specifically.

So...eh. Roadwardens already a thing, in one fashion or another. Their authority and legal powers are also noted to wax and wane depending on the Emperor at the time. Generally, the more lax or corrupt, the less power they have, and vice versa.

Ugh. I was really hoping that the insert table function would be more like my Excel sheet. But for the life of me I can't get it to unscrunch. It looks even worse on mobile. Dang. I've tried adding spaces, underlines, fonts, stared at the BB editor for a bit and moved on, tried forming brand new tables...

It's still at least somewhat legible, right? Otherwise I'm going to have to, I don't know, take a screenshot and put that on Imgur or something?

I think it is fine? It's the best we can get here, and it's not that hard to adapt to either.

You also have two "Wilhelm II" with no "Wilhelm I". Not a big thing, and the final number should probably be Wilhelm III, but you can go with the easy fix of removing a "I", and stick with a total of Wilhelm II. Hm, maybe it should be a total of Wilhelm II.

From what I can tell, it's an issue of the zoom function in my browser (Brave).

When I backed my text zoom down to 100%, everything was well formatted. It's likely the same problem on mobile devices. There's not much you can do about that, and overall, the columns and rows were clear, so the information was still accessible, even is it took a little extra focus to read some words on higher text zoom levels.

Now I really wonder how the Empire survived nearly 1200 years of internal division. Maybe the Sigmarites provinces held together because of religion (since your God founded the Empire, it'd be near heretic to stop believing in the concept/idea of the Empire), but then the majority Ulrican and Taalites region, I wonder why they stuck around, still claiming to be part of the Empire... Maybe because if their claimant to the Imperial throne won, they would have been the top dog in a reunited Empire?

I didn't had any issues to read the content, I'd say it's fine

Ostermark didn't break out into the League of Ostermark as its own province independent of Talabecland until, what, the 1900s? Something like that IIRC

How did they got a Runefang if they become an independent province long after the founding of the Empire?

According to the wiki for the empire (The informational on Wulfenburg city by QM talks about this too). Sometime during the 5th (401-500) to 10th (901-1000) century IC, during the drive to the frontiers era, Talabecland absorbed Ostermark. And Ostermark wouldn't be independent until sometime around the late 19th century aftermath. Where the comet that shattered Mordheim resulted in a political restructure for Ostermark (central government go bye-bye, need new one). Quest canon stamps Ostermark's League of Ostermark independence/creation on 1900-1905 IC. That's roughly about 1000-1500 years under Talabecland. About 439-444 years not part of talabecland as of 2344 IC.

The Runefangs were explicitly and initially intended for the Chieftains who supported Sigmar, including the Ostagoths. It's just that later, during the Drive to the Frontiers, Talabecland decided that Ostermark was part of their frontier, and conquered them turning them into their East March.

And then, uh...

Historically Another Ostland/Talabecland Friction Point said:
The County of Sylvania gained its independence from Stirland in the chaotic aftermath of the Night of the Restless Dead in 1681 IC, while the towns of Ostermark rebelled against Talabecland with the help of the Ostland Grand Princes, forming the League of Ostermark in 1905 IC.

So for a while there, just because they wanted to, Talabecland became
