...You know, it's been so long that I actually forgot Barak Varr was still coming. Sorry, my mistake.

Forget all I said except making the Druuchi bleed, that still very much applies.
Taking Salkaten will be a bloody slog even if we lose. Ostland has another army, and the Arks have driven themselves hundreds of meters into solid rock which will take a while to undo. Barak Varr is coming. The Dawi will catch two grounded and depleted Black Arks.

...y'know, one observation.

We ain't seen the Slayers yet.
Well yeah, they are at sea with rest of fleet waiting for chance to strike well since can't face black ark directly.
In case it wasn't clear from the update, Anna ruthlessly spent the lives of your mercenary troops to preserve the actual state troops and such.
How ruthless we talking here? We have a percentage of merc causalities or something? I know no hard numbers due to chaos of fighting, just curious.

Home Fighting Cocks are alright since they are best in ranged support and are my favorite mercs.

This is very important. Even if we're forced to retreat, the Army of the Forest is still completely intact; if we manage to pull back with at least a good chunk of our forces, we'd still have a force greater than the one present in Salkalten at the beginning of this battle; and while we wouldn't have its great fortifications, the Druchii have also suffered a lot of casualties, incluiding some of their best elites, and will likely lose more. And if they move too inland, they will have to let some of their troops to guard the Arks. That's not even counting the Dwarf fleet.

Yeah, but you think Long Drong hasn't got some Jack Sparrow grade shenanigans up his sleeve?

My guy.

My dude.

That's just how Sorceresses do. Ghrond is one of the most northern of Druchii settlements, and they run around with metal pasties and panties. That's just their thing. Look at this one at 2:59

Yeah, though I was considering it given how Freddy was present (and helped to cause) Morathi to loose her grip on Ariel. We know she reacted to that OOC.

Of course that probably means at most that she supported this mission in some manner, since she is if nothing else an incredibly petty person, although I imagine she also likely doesn't care too much about Fred.

Still...I do worry that we've probably made an enemy of Caledor for life. And possibly a few generations after.

Now they can't avenge their pride :p

On the flipside?

Maximum flex next time we see Kharanos.

Great update! Distressing that arguably the most important part of the battle was going poorly, but Anna ablating our losses into the mercenaries is a grimly decent outcome.

Yeah that is the upside.

Shame we probably can't make anything useful out of a black dragon, probably filled with Dhar and ickyness.

Well that's probably going to tank our rep with mercenaries forever. Even if there's the expectation they might be more expendable (which I'm not sure of) and this was going to be a bloody battle, historically at least mercenaries don't like people who expect them to die. Bad for business.

and how do you know that
Guessing, but they might think ninja'd
Part of the bastard's fluff, he crossed swords with Tyrion and Prince Eldyr about a half-year after Finuval Plain in Nagarythe, during the search for an artifact. He killed the latter brutally.
I can't find anything to corroborate this, but Eldyr was killed by executioners, and it might have been expanded to him specifically.

hey hey hey we will instead have a influx of slayer merc contracts .

or orcs....

Oh, that was worth every bit of the wait! I knew we'd be just fine with Maranith, he went down like a bitch hahaha! I think this is the first time I've ever read someone violently castrate a dragon, but damn, if any dragon deserved it it was a Drucchi's black dragon. Honestly we're in a pretty good place for battle right now. The Flagellants won't be wasted on their chaff anymore, and we didn't necessarily lose anything that can't be replaced, besides the mercenaries. It hurts now of course, but when we win this battle (and I'm gonna say when unless something horribly catastrophic occurs) we won't be in too terrible a position if we ignore the Beasttide OOC horror. Also, I can't say I'd trust the word of any Drucchi except Malekith when they're claiming they murdered someone we love, unless they have their head/peeled off face, as those savages are wont to do.

Lexicanum, his entry specifically. https://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Tullaris

More than six months after the Battle of Finuval Plain he led a force to Nagarythe in search of the Chalice of Khaine, lost thousands of years before. At first all went well, but the Shadow Warriors began to take an increasing toll of his followers. A army led Prince Eldyr and Prince Tyrion fell upon them and although Tullaris brutally slew Eldyr, Khaine himself spoke to him and commanded that he leave his followers to his fate. Even as they were slaughtered by Tyrion, he slipped away into the mists, shielded by his god and headed for home.

Torroar tappin' dat DEEP lore right now. Love it when it's something clever like this! Absolutely fucking brilliant, @torroar !

@torroar can we have one of our casters recharge Light of Summer?
It doesn't really work that way dude, the Light of Summer just rolls and if it rolls well enough Freddy heals. Fatal wound healing needs time to recover but it recharges itself if given enough time.

I mean, this is WHF world, pretty sure most mercs expect clients to use them to avoid their own actual troop causalities when possible.

Also, all things considered Freddy has been a great employer for most of them, keeping them on contracts for years with constant pay and mostly just doing patrol work. This is a first real huge battle since the Blood Fane where merc companies have actually totally died in process.

Maybe, kinda hard to say considering fighting two black arks is suicide to begin with and you have to have survivors to tell tales.

For the Artillery Choice I'd support a Focus on killing as many Druchii as possible.

The Druchii are better then are troops in glorious melee combat and are the least replaceable part of their army.
