Which is why we should increase Imperial Authority(ask the emperor) and not interfere by ourselves in addition to putting down any [Large military conflicts] that occur so it'd downscale to duelling and backstabbery instead of open warfare.

Basically appeal to the martial nature and say "don't hide behind your men" or appeal to the love everybody has for Magnus and say "have faith in the emperor" and seek to establish judical procedures to tone down the amount of civil wars caused for stupid reasons.

Seriously, the only people who profit from nobility waging war on each other are mercenaries and vagrants, succession by conquest gives legitimacy to bandits. We want to (slowly) move away from that so we can focus on external threats. Better for the unity and stability of the realm that way.

Like those daemon worshipping arseholes.

Conflict will stay, but to use the capitalist metaphor, we'd be shifting from Laizzes-faire capitalism to welfare capitalism, much better for the commoners/workers.

The Four would make this impossible. Everything that happens in WHF happens because it amuses the Chaos Gods. If they stopped messing around the world could end at any moment. If the Empire looks like it is getting to stable and thus boring Chaos will make sure to reverse the trend.

We should play the cards we are dealt rather than chasing impossibilities.

...So we should not even try because the setting is too grimderp for anything nice to happen in the long term.

Right, this is true when games worskshop is at the helm. Torroar is a better writer than that though, and doesn't rely on constantly shitting on anything positive to maintain an interesting story. I think maybe your considering this too close to canon's impossible to improve stupidity.

I wonder if Finreir is going to be taking off that invisibility spell he's been working on for so long for this fight. It would explain all the attention he's been not getting:p

The thing is this is Warhammer Fantasy while we can lead our family to greatness and improve the lives of our subjects the world is still doomed and too much order in the Empire as a whole seems like something a certain God of Hope would put a stop to before too long and we have no hope of contending with him. What I'm saying is we should keep our ambitions below a certain threshold.

No its not, because games worshop isn't in charge of this story, so we don't have to pretend that improvement is impossible. The only reason I read torroar quests is because by all indication he threw the whole bullshit 'chaos is invincible and unstoppable and gets whatever it wants in the end always no exceptions' junk out the door.

Because thats what makes canon warhammer such a boring ass grimderp fest, and I trust toroar to ignore the bits of canon that support that viewpoint.

@torroar

If we are the bull, what animal would represent Hochland, the weasel?

Dunno. They all have different 'Symbols'

Ostland = Bull
Mootland = Rooster/Fighting Cockerel (One of their merc groups is Lumpin Croop's Fighting Cocks)
Hochland = Imperial Cross
Reikland = Eagle symbolizing Myrmidia
Wissenland = Lion
Middenland = Wolf, obviously
Nordland = Eagle clutching a Warship
Talabecland = Crowned red eagle
Ostermark = Crowned red Manticore
Stirland = I think its a skeleton (bad choice what with Sylvania eh?)
Averland = Golden Sun
Westerland = I have no idea

Remember how he viewed the suggestions of invading Norsca in ADSIM? I think that while he gives more leeway than GW he still strives to hold to the central theme of the setting which is basically "The cultists are right."

If the four have that much power we might as well give up and worship them.

It will only become that hopeless if we get a fanbase that likes "Dark and edgy" stuff and a supplier that is motivated by greed.

This is a quest.

Sit back, have fun, trust the GM to not resort to copious amounts of grimderp if it looks like we get close to achieving a good end.

Alright, I'll ask outright. Torroar, in your interpretation of the setting can chaos just swipe aside any effort anyone makes anytime it wants, with complete impunity?

No, I mean, I've never heard that name once in this quest.

When Teclis arrived at the Empire to provide aid against the Storm of Chaos he came with two other Elven archmages one named Yrtle and another named Finreir. Yrtle died during the war and is buried at Ostermark while Finreir is the co founder of the colleges of magic alongside Teclis. Also seems to have 'beaten' Manfred Von Carstein during the Vampire wars.

From the book Liber Necris which is written by Manfred himself:

"I marched my army down the Reik to Marienburg intending to lay siege to the port city but found my plan thwarted by the army of Marienburg and a company of Asur who had recently established a trading colony there."

"Among this elder race was the famous Archmage Finreir whose truly awesome power turned the battle against my force at the crucial moment. I resolved to settle down to a lengthy siege until my scouts revealed that an army from Altdorf was coming fast behind me"

Presumably both he and Teclis will be fighting in the coming battle.
