I would like to point out a detail about our gunpowder based weapons... our gunpowder from what I have seen is crap, by this I mean unreliable and dirty. We should try to improve it, an also improve our cleaning methods so our guns fouling is a major issue. An additional thing breech loading swivil gun's were apparently made as early as 1366, they weren't great or anything and couldn't take down a wall, but they were usable on land and would probably work well against infantry.

The gunpowder is probably as good as its going to get given the current Tech Levels of the Empire.
I wonder when we're gunna hear from the Eternity Stairs compound, it's been a few decades in game right?
They are Elves so never is probably a good answer.
Honestly I gave up hope on ever hearing from them.
Pretty much this.

I wonder when we're gunna hear from the Eternity Stairs compound, it's been a few decades in game right?
Hrmm, I know you all did it after all options related to them were done except for Alexandra + Aurelion + Fulcrum(which the thread never went for), cleansing the dragon and such. *goes back to look*

Ah! We started that little thing on turn 16 in the year 2319 IC, it is currently 2336 IC. So seventeen years. Which is honestly a pretty small time scale for this kind of thing.

Call back next century. So long as the rent comes on time, they don't accidentally summon a army of Daemons or cause an explosion that can be heard from Wulfenburg I'm willing to pretend that they don't exist.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense, seventeen years of an elf is probably the equivalent to a year for a human. Considering Tyrion and Teclis are alive now and they're still alive by the End Times, two decades is barely anything.

Yeah, another really long lived elf, who is actually considered long lived by the Elves is the dude who has been chanting at the center of the Vortex since the Great Cataclysm, Caledor Dragontamer. He's been doing it since -4421 IC, or about seven thousand years.

1/5 of our total income is coming from their rent. They could have abandoned the project and turned the place into a vacation retreat for all I care.

I think it has better odds of success when doing it in forging items, I mean that is basically what dwarfs do after all.

Even if it can't mix a cannon made by magics from Bright or Gold College will likely be much more killy than a purely mundane creation.
There exists a Rune lore. Similar to how there is a Hag lore in Kislev which lends itself fairly well to the brewing of potions.

Runes which are segregated into Weapons Runes, Armour Runes, Engineering Runes, Runic Standards and Runic Talismans.
Cannons would fall under Engineering Runes by the reckoning of the Runelords, not the weapons, armour and talismans that the Collegiate wizards would be more familiar with.

Also, Rune Lore is knowledge taught to the Dwarves by their Ancestor Gods and designed to bind magic into objects whereas Collegiate magic is very much a secular approach to magic that focuses on the Winds themselves instead of the Words and Symbols that generate a particular effect.
So where a Runelord could understand the Runes and scrutinize the object for imperfections in its entirety, a two-wind enchantment would require perfect coordination between two wizards who are largely ignorant of how the other wizard's magic works, don't understand how the two winds interact with one another(and can't make any adjustments to the other person's work due to the risk of contamination) and would somehow have to wield soul-changing energies in just the right way while not having the full picture of how the end result is supposed to be.

This.

As long as the rent is paid on time and and they can suppress the accidentally summoned daemon armies, everything is just fine.
If nothing else? At least it's no longer a giant cesspit of Dhar.

DIRECTIONS TO WHERE ALL THE OMAKES ARE
This is an omake I have been wanting to do for a while, but I kept getting writers block. This is the first time I've ever really done an omake, so if you guys are going to criticize me can you please limit it to constructive criticism?

To the omake list!

Which, as we all know, is on the front page, in the threadmarked omakes post [CATEGORY THREADMARKS, NOT CATEGORY INFORMATIONAL], on the front page, which is where the omakes are, on the front page, in their list. Which is on the front page, and threadmarked as the omake list. In a spoiler. At the top of said post on the front page, which says omake list, which is threadmarked as the omake list, in the spoiler, on the front page. With said post being threadmarked with the words omake on said threadmark, which is, of course, in the threadmark list, right at the beginning, with the omakes. As has been declared repeatedly by me, the GM, and in the tags at the top of every page on every part of this entire thread, which declares where the omakes are by way of the threadmarks which has the word omakes in it. And other players who also check the front page and know and have said, as is the truth, that the omakes are on the front page, in the threadmark for their page. Which has the exact words "Omake List In Spoiler At Top" and can be found by searching literally just for the word omake on the front page in the fourth post for the entire thread on the and in the threadmarks. Because that is where the omakes are. On the front page. In link form. Which is, as we can see, the omake list. On the front page. In the threadmark that also includes bonus list and mercenaries, but most especially the entire omake list. The omake list which has all of the omakes. On the front page. In the fourth post which is threadmarked with the word omakes. After all, these are the omakes. On the front page. Which is where they've always been. Which is where I've said they've been. Multiple times. Because that's where they are, in the omake list, which is on the front page, that I've threadmarked on the front page as the fourth post in the THREADMARK descriptor category for threadmarks, and that's where they are, on the front page. Where I've put the omakes. Which is where they go. On the front page. In the omake list that I made and curate which is on the front page. The front page's fourth post and its omakes. Fourth post in the entire thread, really, for those omakes, those omakes which go on the front page with links to them throughout the thread after being on the front page. The front page being where the omakes go, of course, throughout the thread being linked back into the front page, which is where I link them from. The front page which is where the omakes are, and will be, and have always been. In the omake list. Which literally says omake list. Not only just on the front page, but in the threadmarks, no matter where you are in the thread, no matter the page, you can see the omakes by clicking on the threadmark with the word omake in it at the very top in the fourth of all threadmarks. Which is on the front page. The omakes, that is, being on the front page. In a spoiler, sure, but that's because there's just so many omakes! Some written by me, plenty others by other people in the thread, all linked to the front page! Which is the page with the omakes, that is, the front page, and the omakes on said front page. Multiple times in thread, in fact, I've said where those omakes go. That destination location being the front page, as I've said, before. Across this entire thread, multiple times. The topic of what I was saying was that the omakes were on the front page, of course. After all, that's where they are, always have been! The omakes, that is. Being on the front page. Sure, in a spoiler, but that's where they are, those omakes.

It won't catch on. I mean someone just asked about the Eternity Stairs again. At this point I think a tenth of the comments on this thread are about things they could find on the first page or updates on topics that do not have updates and will continue to not have updates.

But I admire your attempt regardless.

Why did you feel the need to burn my eyes out with that wall of text Torroar? Now my eyes hurt and I still don't know what you were talking about.

That's a perfect copypasta do dunk at anyone who asks "Where the Omakes Are"

The only reason I asked about the Eternity Stairs is because we haven't heard anything about for quite a while now and I was curious. What's wrong with that?

I'd say sticky a warning not to ask but that wouldn't stop them.

We're lucky torroar is as beneficent as he is. A normal GM would've slapped us as a thread by now.

A fair idea but one must remember that there is a reason that breach loading never really took off until the 19th century: a significantly increased chance of breach failure and the whole thing exploding.

Breechloading puts a relatively fragile joint/moving part RIGHT where the exploding happens. Muzzleloaded cannons have enough trouble not bursting from a stuck ball or overcharged powder that adding an opening section there is asking for it. And then the opening portion needs to open and seal tightly under stressful conditions.

To make it practical:
-Better machining. Better fitted means greater ability to get a seamless fit. Even a small gap means hot explody gasses rushing out, weakening the shot and cooking your crew alive.
-Better metallurgy. You could of course, reduce the power of the cannon to make a joint that won't blast open, but having stronger metal solves that too.
-Better powder. You need gunpowder that's consistent in composition and combustion, and you need it not to produce crap and gunk that might leave the mechanism stuck.

I think it has better odds of success when doing it in forging items, I mean that is basically what dwarfs do after all.

Even if it can't mix a cannon made by magics from Bright or Gold College will likely be much more killy than a purely mundane creation.
If I recall correctly, other quests by this QM have had different humans working on their own individual winds of magic, working together to do things, has worked out before. Now, that doesn't guarantee anything at all about this quest. But it suggests it might be worth looking into at least. Though, interestingly enough, apparently it is possible in cannon for a human to wield up to 3 different winds of magic. Limited to the Prophetesses of the Lady though. With the Damsels only managing 2 of them. Its likely we'll never be able to get a single human to do that, since the servants of the Lady only seem able to manage it due to their connection to Her. Still though, might be able to work together to do stuff.

I'd say sticky a warning not to ask but that wouldn't stop them.

We're lucky torroar is as beneficent as he is. A normal GM would've slapped us as a thread by now.

That wouldn't change a thing at all, after all it's mostly the new guys that come into the thread that ask this question

I think the best @torroar could do at this point for this issue is to go back to the chapter where we give the SoE to the High Elves and write in explicit and bold letters that the research will take at least several decades if not centuries and that news in that regards will tumble out of this quests until things change

That way any new reader will be discouraged to ask about an update about it, because GM has stated that only when things change an update will be made in their regard

Otherwise torroar could always just take a more distant approach about these things like most GM's do and simple let the thread answer these questions instead of getting overly aggrieved over questions like that

Anyway change of topic
Guys I would like to discuss several things

1. Urgdug and the Ironhorn banner
Honestly I see it dangerously wasted on Urgdug, since he always has high moral, so far has not been greatly hindered by either magic (despite fighting deamons and vampires) or ranged attacks, nor does he stay with the army in the worst cases since he is usually in the thick of the enemies with Frederick

As such I would like to change the Banner carrier to one of Urgdug's bastards, I tried to search the Thread after the one that got named way back, but haven't found him yet, however with torroar using the banner in the last update I feel the need to at bring it up

What do you guys think ?

2. Electors meet
Given that we have learned that the beastmen are orginazing, where we know that the Omen is involved and given that we and Gunthar are currently holding the majority of the middle mountains, which if I remember correctly are sacred to the beastmen, I say we meet him and talk about what can be done should it be invaded
maybe joint exercises or maybe some strategic forts along the border or something like that
Maybe even get big Logan to moderate between us, to 100% avoid things getting to heated

3. @Marlin a question for you, was Ortrud always the chancellor of Ostermark or is this new ?

As such I would like to change the Banner carrier to one of Urgdug's bastards, I tried to search the Thread after the one that got named way back, but haven't found him yet, however with torroar using the banner in the last update I feel the need to at bring it up
He showed up early in the KU chapters. The one where Ostland charges a bunch of wolf-riders. "Gazz-Gazz's boys".
