Yes, it would be idiotic if they expected the Cardassians to find out they have the Kadak-Tor (I don't think they'd trust us to protect them either). If they have done their homework they might think they have a good enough chance of successfully framing someone else for the risk of that happening to be acceptable though.

We'd cancel their event for this quarter and it looks a lot like it won't end in war right now. Also the Miracht being there might provoke the Sydaxians.

Even if the chance of war is just, say, 10%, I would very much like to be well prepared. Sarificing a single event seems a small price to pay.
As for provoking the Sydraxians, we already have the 1. Fleet close to Sydraxian space. Adding a single ship shouldn't make much difference.

Did you forget that the Sydaxians are out for blood specifically from the Miracht? Posting a whole fleet there is insignificant compared to posting the Miracht there as for as provoking them goes.

I'm very worried about defeat in detail if hostilities do break out with the Cardassians. In the best case scenario with the popular plans, Enterprise/S'harien + 5th Fleet vs groups C/D without the Kadek-Tor we have a 79%chance of winning, but the Kadek-Tor joining in reduces that to 25% even without taking the cloak into account (not sure how much use it would be in a situation where there are other targets to fire at anyway, probably not all that much). 5th Fleet+Outpost vs groups C/D has only a 2.5% chance, and everything else is worse. I wish we had Wolfpack Doctrine with the bonus to declining battle.

I do hope that people can kinda see how war phases would work, though? Try to balance keeping your fleet together with also having to protect your outposts, infrastructure, and the civilian shipping that keeps the Federation moving. The trade off for keeping your fleet together is that you are weeks away from responding to other sectors, and can lose huge amounts of infrastructure and shipping, even if you can completely dominate the space immediately around you.

I still have no idea how this "Base Plan" pile of dung works. If people with vote counter programs are going to demand that the rest of us use it, some sort of permanently linked explainer would be useful. Wasn't separating votes what the whole "FLEET" and "NEWS" and other secondary tags supposed to do? If someone votes for X FLEET NIX's Latest Plan why in the world would the vote tracker also count that as voting for his NEWS vote?

Plans are greedy unless preceeded by "base". A plan swallows up everything in that post, even votes that belong to other tasks. At least sometimes. It's not very reliable or easy to test, but this use case is what base plans are for anyway. Here is the usage guide.

Maybe we should stop entitling votes as "plans" then. This is the only quest on the site where I've seen people demanding we use "Base Plan" and other quests seem to have no problem tracking votes on different topics.
