Should we consider abandoning Felis and concentrate on OSA, Licori, Bolians AND dreamers? I have a feeling that pushing for both tailwards and spinwards is not the best course of action

I think I missed something. Why is the Horizon Tag on the OSA section crossed out? Its not completed yet is it? I know OOC why we have to get the Bajorans out of Cardassians influence but why are we focusing our automatic diplo pushes on them IC?

Removing the Horizon tag for the OSA especially when it is so close to completion is kind of a gutpunch. Even more so when we were promised that the 300 tag would be the last Horizon influence this kind of just invalidates the whole tag system.

This whole thing seems like one more delaying action.

I am surprised and, frankly, disappointed in our GMs, that there was a hidden HoH relationship score that was, as far as I am aware, never hinted at.

The mechanics changes are for the better though I believe.

As for some sort of compromise with the HoH, we can let go of Bolians, no problem. Losing OSA would be painful because of how close we are, and because stuff like Beya Wars would almost certainly not survive in the HoH, but we could do without them. Losing the Felis would require that we get the Shanpurr to expand corewards, but more importantly cause... issues between the ISC and HoH.

We need the Licory though, or our connection to Ked Paddah and beyond will be dangerously thin.

One thing to keep in mind, Beyond is no longer a tug of war, where for one to progress one has to lose. Which makes it a race now instead.

Come to think of it, since nations can have multiple allies, does that mean that the HoH will keep on trying even after we ally them?

I dearly hope not.

Yeah, this really grates. We would have finished the OSA tag this quarter if the goalposts hadn't been shifted for the second time. Now we're stuck racing the HoH all the way to membership, when we were explicitly promised that wouldn't happen. Ugh.

New ships detected. I've seen Sunrise refit proposals on the wiki but not modified Lizards. Do we have stats?

They have the same stats... they just added cloaked devices.

(ROMULAN INTENSIFIES)

That's a joke.... but it could be true.

EDIT: Actually, I'll go all the way.

PREDICTION

Massive Romulan-Licori deal. In return for the Arcadian Empire swearing vassalage to the Romulan Star Empire as a sub-kingdom, the Licori have been provided with cloaking technology. You lose, Federation/HoH!

Guys, what is surprising that the Horizon has a relation with the races they are diplomancing? And what is surprising that our diplomats didn't get shown a score card?

It's not surprising, but it is a violation of the explicit promise that there was an endgame and we wouldn't have to race the HoH all the way to membership. I get it; sometimes GMs have to break promises when things just don't work out mechanically/narratively. But it does burn a little.

Wouldn't it be more reasonable to convert the progress on 'Horizon Influence' into decreasing Horizon relationship or increased Federation Relations or progress on something?

The Horizon Influence tag progress didn't just go "poof". It had an effect on the final Harmony relations score.
Doesn't seem like it had much of an effect. The Licori and Bolians are a bit hard to judge so lets compare the two races we've primarily been fighting over; the OSA and Felis:
League of Independent Felis Colonies 100/300
-[Horizon Influence 154/300]

Outer Space Alliance: 210/300
-[Horizon Influence: 282/300]
So the OSA have almost double the progress on their Influence Tag (+128) but if we look at their respective relations with Harmony:
OSA: Harmony relations now 185/300
Felis: Harmony relations now 200/300
The OSA is only 15pts behind the Felis. A 128pt difference, or about 32 ship-quarters, resulting in a 15pt difference tells me either there was no effect or it was so small it might as well not exist.

At least for me, it's infuriating because I thought the fact we were positive on the influence bar meant we were ahead. When it went negative briefly with the Felis I figured that meant they were ahead, and then we pulled back. Now to find out we were in fact well behind in many cases is extremely frustrating because it came out of nowhere. Plus as I've said previously, this is the second time you've changed the threshold for when the Horizon gives up, right before we were about to reach it with one faction. So yeah, I'm not a fan.

I guess the Harmony was just outplaying us at every turn and we didn't realize it. Which makes sense because they've always been devoting more forces there.
