Hecks to the yeah! Gunna pick up the DLC too. Wars in Heaven e'erday!

*Cough* I'm keeping my eye on the Trek Mod too. I need more than Romulan species portraits to sate my need for Trek. I mean the quest does it well

But sometimes you just have to Romulan! Am I right or what?

*looks around expectantly, hand raised for high five*
That reminds me, our latest encounter reminded me of one of the thinks that the Rhiannsu saw as they traveld to there new home and wasn't there also something similar to the fleshplague in that?

It's sadly been a while since I read those novels. I should probably read read them. *embarrassed Romulan chuckle*

I think they were hit with a thing that was double evil spess tetanus after settling Romulus?

I'll be honest DS9 was my favorite Star Trek. I liked that there was a plot carrying across each season and the whole series
Same here, though I loved TNG once it got it's feet under it.

Though if any franchise could have an episode where we sit down and reach a diplomatic understanding with The Thing, it's this one!

All of this has happened before, and all of it will happen again.

Now wouldn't that be a fucking Twist. We're running around worrying about Romulans and instead the GM has thrown Species 8472 at us OOTF.

Eh, I'm only a casual trek fan, though this quest is making me want to rewatch TNG(I grew up watching that on TV :p )

Someone should probably watch Enterprise, given how much stuff we're drawing from it!

No?

No takers?

Godspeed. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. I will dedicate a ship to you ( the lesbian kind. Not the hunk of metal kind. > : V )

Are we planning on the Excelsior to be another explorator? Because if so we're going to need to use political power to boost our Exploration Corps personnel because otherwise we won't have enough to crew it and the one that's completing in 06.
The Excelsior being started this turn won't be Explorer, it'll be mainstream. Target is 5 by 2311, so the Second Explorer Excelsior gets started in 2306 to finish in 2310. All crew will be ready.

@OneirosTheWriter how long does it take to research a new ship design? I know the answer might be uncertain, which is why you don't list it when you list the options, but can you tell us approximately?

It makes a big difference to our fleet planning decisions if (for example) the Renaissance class will take two years versus five years versus ten years. I know the process also involves building a prototype ship at some point as well.

Okay, vote is closed now, pretty clear runaway winner. Looks like another Excelsior is being laid down.

Ship designs are highly variable. There are a number of savings factors allowed in the ship worksheet, that represent improvements made by a longer development process. The more you use those factors in order to fit more into your ship, the more extra techs get added to your Ship Design research project.

So the longer you work on a design, the more efficient and productive a design you get. At a minimum, if you use no bonuses, you can request the research project in Q2, assign a team in Q3, and commence the prototype build in Q1.

Prototype ships take 50% more time and resources.

@OneirosTheWriter , have you made any progress on your thoughts regarding Starbases? Related questions:
-Will the currently available Technologies effect their capabilities?
-Will it be a similar process for a new Starbase as for a Ship?
-Will there be a Starbase Design Research Topic?
-What sort of firepower do our Current Starbase Is have?
-Do Starbases give a bonus for detecting Fleet Movements adjacent/into their Sector?

Would they be new tech areas like Ulith III Biophage was and get doubled by the appropriate design team (escort design, cruiser design and explorer design)?

Also guys I have been in an omake mood and actually got two out that I am happy with. The one I was most comfortable with was basically an extract from a history book so if anyone has any prompts for me that I can do in a book/report/analysis extract mode let me know. I will be busy tomorrow but should have time later this week. Now that I have gotten going on them I kind of want to continue but I am having difficulty determining a prompt for here.

Lone Range doctrine, here we come.

It sounds like building a Protoype is actually the majority of the the effort. In which case, should we take it that another requirement is that we have an open berth in our shipyards big enough to build the prototype and that berth is occupied for while said ship is built?

Mmm, maybe an analysis of the way the distribution of Starfleet Infrastructure outside of Sector 001 (Sol & 40 Eridani specifically) resulted in increased unity within the Federation? Which in turn gave Admiral Vitalia Yukiko Kahurangi the Political Clout to make larger moves in the upcoming years?

Oh that might work, that is similar to the most recent one I wrote(historical analysis), and not having to do conversation is easier for me. Yeah, I think I will try to work on it during the week and get it up by Thursday depending on what free time I have.

Edit: Do we have the races of the pervious head of Starfleet and the previous explorer corp Admiral?
I have 1 retired Vulcan and 1 retired Andorian, 5 current human 2 current Vulcan , 1 I belive is Andorian (intelligence) and unsure on the Tactical admiral. I am tying that into the omake so I want to make sure I have it correct.

Yes, a Ship Design project akin to the Ulith III project is generated. The number of techs depend on what you're trying to do with the project. You assign tech teams based on type of ship
Can I have the race of Admirals that both we and Chen replaced, also the race of the Intelligence and Tactical Admirals as I think I have the rest figured out (Seruk is Vulcan I believe, Yamada and Donald are Human)

Edit: Also the name of the previous commander of Starfleet and gender too

Incidentally, we have begun using "Challorn Protocol". in our FATE Star Trek game, to refer to Starfleet going full Blackwatch on something.

Proposed Plan for the Upcoming Snakepit:
72 Political Will to spend
Set up new mining/research colony at Biroth - 10 pp (unknown; but estimate based on the other mining colonies)
Request new Medical Tech Team - 40 pp (But only if we can get McCoy to lead it)
Request Academy Expansion - 20 pp

That Medical Tech Team will be very expensive, but if someone is throwing around bioweapons we clearly need to up our game for the Ulith III Biophage research. I genuinely think it would be worth it, because with McCoy running it we could likely get results as early as next year.

Interesting idea I had... But is there any research related to the creation of large scale warp fields? I'm interested in the possibility of adding a measure of mobility to some starbases. Nothing internal mind you, just developing a warp tug if you will to tow them to a new place if needed. Likely top speed of warp 4 or 5. Would also be handy for retrieving large scale artifacts.

Hmm. Perhaps expand the idea to an engineering ship? High powered tractors, industrial scale replicators, deployable scaffolding for onsite ship repairs, large number of shuttles, and multiple oversized reactors to power it all. Slow speed and lacks weapons, but strong shields.

Where can I find the design doc again?

They were able to slowly drag DS9 to the Wormhole in the DS9 pilot, at sublight speeds. But that was almost a century from now, and a small-ish Cardassian station, not one of the monsters the feds use.

Dedicated Engineering ship would be nice though

And O'Brien had to pull some impressive Technobabble to do it! :D
