Well, maybe they'll screw up and lose a few more ships to the nebula but damn if that doesn't hurt having Enterprise flub her first captain's log.

A poor start by Enterprise.

Section 0 is pleased ....

Mostly good otherwise, though could have been one bad roll from losing Ambassador!

I mean.
Judging by the track record, we are going to lose diplomatic war, don't we? Neither Amby nor other ships nor Zhang's diplomatic boni help.

Is there any reason to keep TF Beyond around?

We have not had the TF results yet, and while the Horizon leader was off countering Enterprise personally, the anti-Horizon TF was just massively reinforced ...

Love the Maiden of Dawn logs, really hope we see the AI again and imagine the potential information it gather in its journey, sure the
duotronic databanks are half destroyed
but there got to be information on the crew's personal computers or even physical format like books or foreign tech they collected if the people on board are the best Orion explorers with weird quirks.

I went back to double check.

HPSDV Playwright is the lead ship of the Horizon's anti-Federation Task Force, an older model Fleet Tender.

Which means that their best P score is has taken itself out of the running to oppose our anti-Horizon Task Force. The TF has a real chance of doing some good this quarter! They just have to beat 4 Scientist class cruisers ....

Real talk: do we even want the Felis? Their government is annoying to deal with and their culture is like a worse version of members we already have. Their position sucks, too. The way I see it, every diplomatic effort spent on the Felis is effort that could be better spent on the Bolians, Laio, and OSA.

Edit: for god's sake, they aren't even our first cats

All shall become one with the Federation. All.

The Felis are only useful for their geographical location. As things currently stand we have only two routes for corewards expansion:
1) Corewards of the GBZ; threading the needle between Dylaarian and ISC space.

2) Corewards-spinwards through Felis space; threading the needle between ISC and Horizon space.

Felis space was more important in the past since we weren't sure we'd have a corewards pass through the GBZ but now that we have it they are of lesser importance.

I think Horizon is reading our mail, they are being capable of countering our efforts, they are being too good at it, so it stands to reason they have assets within our territory or some other method of intel acquisition.

THe whole thing with Ambasador Lux, makes me think that we have some serious leaks or exploits that others are taking advantage of

We need to get Linderley's counterintel bonus back!

Diplomatic training at Starfleet Academy is of the highest standards. It takes years of dedicated study, intensive lectures, and dozens of simulated excercises to produce officers of such skill and finess.

The HPSDV Playwright, under the command of the Horizonian Intendant Karyn nas Azhlee,

Rival EC-equivalent captain, right here. I'm torn between having Starfleet Inteligence try to determine her romantic leanings, and being afraid she'll seduce one of our captains first.

We find the weirdest research colonies, don't we?

We lost Linderlay due to a series of Counterintel failures.

While he was providing a Counterintel bonii. It stands to reason that the situation has worsened without him - And facing up against more espionage-specialized opponents. Like the Horizon, what's with their super-smooth responses coupled with what must be impressive detection systems. The Horizon operates an extensive surveillance society - They must be good at this.

I hope we can keep Maiden of Dawn from shutting down completely. An AI like her is unique since she is probably the only AI that we know about right now. Just think about what she could tell us about in regards to what she has seen in the interim. She will also need some serious psychological help to deal with her issues if we can save her from dying completely. Hey maybe if she survives that long she can bee the eager older sister to Lore and Data someday as well as a Grandmother to Data's daughter whose name I forget since its been a while since I watched that particular episode. Oh and by Grandmother I mean Spoil her rotten to Data's dismay.

It just occurred to me that we on Sufficient Velocity and Spacebattles are a lot more accommodating of the potential for AI-human relations than most ordinary joes on the street are if I can casually talk about an AI of all beings getting therepy. It also reminds me of the On the Shoulders of Giants Fic by Warringer which had a similar point made there.

Here's hoping the Romulans or Breen arrange an accident for Intendant Karyn nas Azhlee should she goes poking in their sphere of influence.
