You were about to lose the Enterprise to combat when it hit a bug and I lost the log. When I re-ran it, the Enterprise pulled out the flukiest RNG rolls you can imagine.
:o

If the Enterprise could have been destroyed, what more, the other Excelsiors, let alone the smaller ships?

Cardassians OP please nerf. :V

If the Enterprise needed fluky RNG rolls that means she was outnumbered. Better get that Way of the Elephant.

... wow that sounds interesting and a bit terrifying. Does change my research priorities to move tiger team to way of the elephant right away
I kinda doubt it's worth it.

The issue is that the combat system is completely binary; either the enemy takes damage, or we do. If we're sufficiently outclassed in terms of combat power, then having 1 more Shield point just means that the enemy has to spend one more round hitting us, but doesn't change anything about the outcome of the fight.

Obviously Kirk cheated the simulation for us. :p
Well, Kirk won an unwinnable simulation by hacking the computer.

Blue Kirk winning an unwinnable battle by hacking a program through the fourth wall makes perfect sense to me. :D

"Captain ka'Sharren, this is also Captain ka'Sharren. Yes, I know what you're thinking, being you. 'Fucking time travel.' But you need to listen closely..." :D

First tier of way of the Elephant would increase the Enterprise's chances against 2 Jaldun from 53.5% to 66.2%. Against a Jaldun and 2 Takaaki it would increase chances from 15.3% to 25.3%.

So chances are we're about to go fully hot with the Cardassians, unfortunately there is no way we can have a new explorer class vessel design ready for war with them in any kind of remotely relevant time frame, even if we come out with a design which utilises no fudge factors it's not possible.

Way of the Elephant also increases your Fleet Combat when outnumbered,+5% for the first level, which, I think since the system isn't clearly explained anywhere I can find, makes the enemy taking damage more likely and by extension us taking damage less likely.

Both, essentially: Hit chance for you is your fleet combat/total combat of both fleets, if you don't hit that means the other fleet hits you.
