[x] Player Name: "Vitalia Yukiko Kahurangi"

Non-western names, trek sometimes has a problem of overwhelmingly western names. Also, It sounds nice!

I would prefer them not to be named.

Unless they do something special, or something akin to that - Like being the sole survivor of a battle, or something.

Perhapse they should be named by users as we use them, just leave them open for write ins

Okay, that makes sense to me. I'll leave it like that then. Gives people some freedom to move.

That reminds me.

@OneirosTheWriter Is the vote counted by plan or by line?
The name is one line, the Captain assignments is another line .

Edit:
@OneirosTheWriter How much political will are we gaining a turn now? Since that seems to be what we need to get changes done I am trying to see how big the -5 penalty is from the cowboy captain

You gain 25pt per year (4 turns).

I literally hit "Random Name' on a a generator until I found one that sounded nice, and was female and non-western.
As far as I know "Yukiko" is purely personal name that isn't used as family one.
Vitalia... I don't know for Italy or Lithuania, but in Russia only male form is used but this one isn't.

It's not Jamitov Hymem level, but still... mmm... not the most optimal choice.

I think Vitalia was Ukrainian actually.

Of course cultural continuity between the modern day and the trek era is limited due to all the wars and what not. Theoretically it could have been chosen by her parents because it sounded nice and loosely represented her ancestry. Or she could just be a person with two first names.

Heck, /I/ chose it because it sounded nice and loosely represented an ancestry I wanted to have represented.

Name is a Korean male. Figure that's non-Western enough, while also avoiding the fairly typical stand-bys of Russian/Slavic, or Japanese or Chinese.

Roman actually. Came here (Russia, Ukraine and Belarus) through Byzantine. Unlike some other paired names (like Alexander/Alexandra) out of Vitaliy/Vitaliya pair in modern days only male one is commonly used and female one is not.

So does Gundam UC... which always get flack for absurd names that don't make sense.

Then what about Yukiko as family name?

Hey, I am perfectly open to other suggestions.

EDIT: LOL, I fucked up, I forgot to check the "Lastname" box in the generator, and it /literally gave me two first names/

Edit2 : I'll be changing my vote to "Vitalia Yukiko Kahurangi" which is a Maori name

Edit 3: And as I said, I don't really care about specifics as long as it's a female name from a non-Anglo/Western European background.

Thanks for bugging me about the name by the way, I'd have felt bad If I did end up voting for what was essentially a nonsense name.

Dang, I was just about to suggest Isabella Turani, to cover two under-represented regions in Trek: South America and the Middle East.

Anyways, I note poor John Harriman must have been booted out of the Captain's seat of the Enterprise...

You kill Kirk ONE time...
Actually, it fits almost perfectly that he had a seven season run and then stepped down, date-wise.
